No way. Rance around without an opponent all game.

Saw a few guys kick across goal and handball in the backline too. 1975 called and wanted you to give their strategy book back.

The bloke controls the entire territory, and as a consequence multiple opponents do not kick numerous goals. Go and watch one day. It's why Talia, McGovern and Tarrant are also wonderful modern defenders.

Rance is the ultimate modern defender, although he might not score heavily in your AFL fantasy league in which you undoubtedly place so much stock.

Fyfe
Sloane
Grey
Danger
Selwood
Martin
Bont
Mitchell
Gaff
Rockliff

And probably at least ten more I'd take before him
If you think there are 20 mids ahead of him on this years form then you are either trolling or haven't watched any melbourne games. Has been better than almost half that you named there

In a team no one tags or over plans for

Sorry mate he doesn't do much for me if I'm honest I don't get the hype

Much prefer Viney or Petracca

There's potentially 4 lions (Rocky, Zorko, Martin & Beams) who could be a chance at AA yet we are 1-4. Thats too many from a team that far down the ladder
Not really. Our midfield is our strong point and we've been largely competitive this season thus far, so wouldn't be surprised to have at least three in serious consideration.

Agree with a lot of what you say but we pick AA on form and Dahlhaus has been better than Danger after the first 5 games, the other are ahead probably.
Lol, no he hasn't. People assume Dangerfield has been average because he hasn't been as good as last year. He's still been exceptional, just playing a different role with more contested work and less penetration from stoppages.

I guess that's why he has been in the coaches votes for 4 out of 5 games

A very genuine question: how many of Oliver's games have you watched?

Because there are lots of midfielders getting great numbers and most of them tend to kick it more often than Oliver.

With one game to go in round five there are 14 players averaging 30 or more touches and 24 players averaging more than 28 touches. Tonnes of competition.
I'm fine with Oliver's kick/handball ratio tbh. I'd much rather Oliver in tight, handball it to a player in a better position spreading from the stoppage instead of a blind kick where there's more of a chance it won't be effective. Oliver's a good kick, but his hands in tight are very effective and generally he gives it to someone in a better position. When Oliver is in a lot of space that's when he will generally kick it more. I think it's a really minor issue regarding how often he needs to kick it.

Geelong have won all games but haven't played the top teams yet. Dangerfield is no doubt good but I know Geelong, I live in Geelong, I watch the cats, half my family barracks for Geelong. Robbo just asked in the paper the other day who is the Doggies 2nd best player? And came back with Dahl! The second best player in the Premiership team who is even better this year. How much more does this guy have to do? Geelong people are often more 'blinkered' in their opinions than the other Victorian teams that are in Melbourne.

I would have Oliver on par with Tom Mitchell. A lot of disposals but mostly handballs and much lower score involvements than the better midfielders this season. Oliver is averaging 4 score involvements a game, that is pretty average. In fact in comparison I was very harsh on Mitchell who averages 7 and plays in a team that has scored far less than Melbourne this season.

Still exceptional for a second year player but this is the All Australian Team, the top few players for each position.

How is this relevant to the current AA team?

Not at all. There have been better midfielders than Dahlhaus this year, he's unlucky that's all.

Despite our poor form this season, I think we have two players currently in the team:

Ruck: Brodie Grundy - averaging 19.75 touches, 5 marks, 38.5 hit-outs, 4.25 clearances and 8.5 contested possessions each game
Back pocket or CHB: Jeremy Howe - averaging 21 touches, 8 marks, 3 contested marks, 4.25 R50's and 6.25 1%'s each game.

Adams, Treloar, Pendlebury all sitting in contention specifically the latter two but all probably miss out at the moment.

You post like I did when I was in year nine doing mock drafts, ranking players I'd never watched.

He did nothing in the first half though. Only started to play well once Watts went into the ruck.

Rance is the most overrated player in the competition.

He is one of the top few key defenders no doubt, but the hyperbole is out of control.

It's funny that you bring up AFL Fantasy. The way people carry on about Rance you'd think every game he took 10 intercept marks, had 20 spoils, kept a key forward goalless and had 25 touches himself.

That's an interesting argument, given you're advocating for Dahlhaus over Dangerfield. Geelong did, for example, smash Fremantle at Subiaco. How did Dahlhaus' mob do?

I'm yet to see a single real argument from you as to why Dahlhaus would be picked ahead of Dangerfield or any of the other popular midfield picks. You've basically limited your argument to a contention that Dahlhaus is underrated in the Bulldogs' pecking order. Which, of course, has practically nothing to do with making the All Australian team.

Oh boo hoo someone doesnt think Oliver is that great.

I've watched him he so ok but I'd prefer Viney or Petracca

Perhaps try and understand not everyone thinks Oliver is the next Star and that's ok or continue to act like a jealous grade 9er who thinks they know everything

You want a single argument, Dahlhaus half forward flank, Danger one of many to be considered for centre square.

Great argument

The swans smashed Dnagers mob last September how did the dogs go?

Dahl is under rated so he won't get the same recognition Danger does. I know who turns the ball over more and it ain't Dahl

I would say he so good, rather than he so ok.
