Now that the salaries are into the 2025 cap, anyone have an update on Sheed. Last I recall he was having a last ditch surgery. I sense it is long odds he gets to an AFL level of fitness again.

We could wait until the midseason draft but I suspect we will have others on the LTI list by then. Not being pessimistic, but it is a collision sport.

Can you have train on players if there's no spots left on your list?

Also would let's wait until we see the full train on list because Knobel is still a string bean with limited mobility so it's no certainty that he'd offer anything to the list beyond the nothing he'd offer next year.
We have a spot so yes. Had we taken Knobel then there would be little point outside of a Sheed medical retirement. We have no ruck depth, taking Knobel means Barnett trains at a KPD.

Livingstone looks a better spare ruck option that Barnett. Jack Williams may surprise us all and become our preferred No 1 ruck over the summer.

The three clear winners from the hand they had were us, Port and Saints.

Eagles, Saints - Those two hit the mark for me.

Brisbane - Winning a flag and getting two of the better players in the draft class was annoying.

Richmond - That North Melbourne trade probably pushed them to an A rating on that alone.

Well your Blue Baggers are partly to blame for not keeping the Lions honest and bidding.

Norf are such a sorry excuse for a club they are afraid to put anyone off. That mean the Lions now have a handful of F3 and F4 picks to take into next year.

Hmm not knowing his height without checking I think he's a tad short to be first choice ruck considering who he'd be up against each week.

I will get more interested when the media take a more holistic view of draft and trade.

I do not think the Tigers deserve an A let alone an A+ for their draft.

I think they cashed in brilliantly in their four trades and FA.

Yeah, it's funny when they're given an A+ when they got all these top picks, like bravo, you drafted everyone you were expected to take, here's a medal for your courageous effort. Would've been like us getting an A+ last year for taking Harley

Agree I think the Tuggers did ok but IMO they have taken some risks.

I thought Faull was the fourth or fifth best KPF, they did then however double back and get Armstrong who was one of them.
Hotton comes with risk -knee.
Trainor comes with risk - already had 6 concussions.
Sims ....seriously ???????? ahead of The Whitlocks and Shanahan.

Lalor and Smillie two very good gets.

I think in five years time the much praised Richmond 2024 first round haul, start looking a bit like their 2004 haul.

Pick 1 Brett Deledio
Pick 4 Richard Tambling
pick 12 Danny Meyers
Pick16 Adam Pattison
Pick 20 Dean Polo

Where as I hope our haul looks like what the Hawks did that same year.

Pick 2 Jarryd Roughead
Pick 5 Lance Franklin
Pick 7 Jordan Lewis
Pick 21 Tom Murphy

Alas ................ hindsight is a wonderful thing.

We also have no KPD depth, which is why we’re inviting players like Brock and Van Es to try out for the final spot during the SSP.

Any junior watchers know what the ruck stocks are like next year? No ruck forwards please

Short answer and not intending to be a smart arse ........ BUT .......way, way too early to even speculate.

If we’re looking to improve our ruck stocks at the end of the year I’d be getting in Mitch Edwards’ ear. Geelong just added a couple more project rucks, it’ll be getting pretty crowded over there.
Errr…. You’re ok to take Mitch Edwards but don’t want to take Knobel because him and/or his manager have had a big sookie wookie?

Ok…

Of course Knobel was saying he didnt want to come to us, he was probably told by Freo to play it cool and not speak to other clubs so he slides through. If we did draft him I bet he would have been fine after 10min as he didnt need to move and would jump up to being a chance of playing far quicker. He would have changed his mind very quickly and been a happy camper if he is close to getting games (after being no 4 at Freo). Hell, he may even come around to Gold Coast, they took a punt because he has the size and talent. We didnt even though we had much more in our favour. We were just short sighted, didnt have the balls and were nice guys - true to form.
