Exactly, FOS and Draper, the 2 favourites here for that pick 3 could both turn out to be just "good" players, and Lindsay(assuming we get him) could turn out to be another Zach Merrett, with baker being top 3 in the B&F for the next 4 years.
Clarke was a recruiting manager before, im sure he has some idea of the draft crop and what he was sacrificing by dropping 3 for 12+Baker
It's possible, sure. But let's not kid ourselves this guy knows what he's doing. It will be complete luck if it turns out a win. This is the clown who recruited Hopper and Taranto and set Richmond back. "yeah, but I empathise with Richmond and Bakes. I grew up with a picket fence around a back yard. He's an exception player worth a top 5 pick". Bro came out of it looking like Kamala.

The list manager recruits players from other clubs, a recruiting manager looks at the draft.

Clarke was a recruiting manager at Richmond, he didnt get Taranto or Hopper over

Freddy is a absolute must for us next year, his ability to bring others into the game and use so well.
Seriously going to be a star made for finals type of player genuinely exciting

I thought his kicking from either foot was absolutely elite in the Futures curtain raiser on Grand Final day. Looks a real talent and I’d love to get him into the club for 2026.

So it looks like we're not signing any dfas

On SM-S916B using BigFooty.com mobile app

DFA signing period closed last Friday so you’re correct that we’re not signing any

We can still sign players during the SSP period post draft though - McQualter said yesterday we intend to leave a spot open for one such signing when answering a question about Burgiel being at training. Indicated we’d be looking at other players as train on options

Not sure this is true but heard speculation Don Sheed may retire

Said did not think he could get through another preseason

I don't think it could be true or we would of heard something by now with the draft around the corner
It has 100% been a possibility. Didn’t think it would be this late though. Posted this two weeks ago in response to Wooshaaaa:

The club has up until pre draft list lodgement if he was going to be medically retired and open up a list spot. He had surgery quite recently so it’s unlikely (but possible) a case could be made for him to be medically retired before the draft. If he doesn’t respond well over summer and we need an extra list spot it may be revisited before the SSP or MSD.

Sheed was always a possibility to retire post draft depending on the success or otherwise of his latest surgery

We weren’t in a position to delist/retire him before the October 31 deadline as it would have caused 2024 salary cap complications

If he’s still struggling after surgery or is coming to terms with the reality of going through another preseason only to end up primarily playing WAFL (Sheed is the antithesis of the type of player the new game plan requires) then retiring would be a genuine option

He’d certainly be looking at what Gaff went through this year and may well decide a negotiated settlement is preferable

Makes sense for the club as we are already planning on having train on players to round out our list post draft so adding an extra SSP option to replace Sheed won’t require a significant change of strategy

Would be very sad for a club hero to leave like that without the send off game he deserves. He really lived the dream every kid has of kicking the goal that wins a Grand Final, and that can never be taken away.

On a more practical note, would have liked it to be earlier, might have been able to find a spot to give Culley one more year to see if he'd recover enough from his knee. As it is it would certainly give Burgiel a better shot at getting his spot back on the list.
