For the 2s

I think there’s a good chance he could be bought out and delisted this year.

Hope I’m wrong.
Well, yeah. He won't be starting in the 1s next season.

But there's talent there, it's just whether he/we can extract it.

Hotton flight risk AND a current ACL

Geez

I'm not opposed given his talent puts him in that first tier of 6 or 7 players.

At some stage we have to take a risk given we've moved out of the "guaranteed" players into the more speculative types.

The potential payoff is probably greater than almost anyone else at 12, it's just whether the knee fully recovers.

My gut feel is that Travaglia is 100% gone by our pick, as is Allan. Lindsay 50/50. I think Reid will be available.
Yeah Twomey suggesting this too, Saints likely take Travaglia or trade the pick, but anyone trading up is chasing Travaglia. Seems convinced Allan is gone before our pick. Feel like it’s Lindsay vs Hotton, small chance of Shanahan or Berry.

Has us taking Taj Hotton in preference to Murphy Reid and Joe Berry. Lindsay, Allan and Travaglia all gone by our pick although Richmond are considering Berry or Reid rather than Lindsay

Other points of interest re West Coast - whilst there’s suggestions we might try to trade into the first round, rival clubs believe it’s unlikely as we (and Fremantle) want to retain draft capital for Warner

There’s no mention of who we might be looking at with our second pick but the likes of Moraes, Gross, Davis, Ough and Clarke are still on the board. As is Trainor

They are also expecting that Champion will not be bid on

I mean, they got the boardism slightly wrong (getting Hotton - a top 5 talent - would be a great result), but it does read like they have been spending some time on here 🤣

What are the chances of Hotton returning with the same speed he had before his injury?
With only one shot in the first round, the risk is too great.
If we were Richmond with all their first round picks perhaps I'd be willing to take the punt.
His recovery hasn’t been smooth. ACL affects stability and lateral movement rather than speed. I think he’ll be taken by Richmond at 18. Absolute no thanks for us at 12 for mine. Would rather trade down with GWS who apparently have some interest in him. 12, 26 for 15, 21, 37 I’d do provided TT and Lindsay were gone.

No mention of either Hotton or Reid with our pick but rather saying we’re interested in Lindsay and Travaglia and also linking us to Shanahan

Quite a grab bag of names with our later picks

Eagles fans can rest easy that they are going to get a quality talent with the pick they received from Carlton in their much scrutinised trade – but it appears unlikely to be Bo Allan. The top prospect from WA has strong interest from St Kilda, Melbourne and Richmond who hold multiple picks before West Coast and it would be a surprise to see him get to the Eagles’ pick 12. It means versatile Vic Country playmakers Xavier Lindsay and Tobie Travaglia – whose girlfriend is the sister of Eagles player Tom Cole’s wife – could be available, with the Eagles linked to both.
Bendigo Pioneers key forward Jobe Shanahan is a big contender with the Eagles putting in late work on the marking forward, who has impacted at VFL level this season. Small forward Joe Berry is another who can address a glaring need.
At their second pick, the Eagles are fans of Dandenong Stingrays forward-midfielder Cooper Hynes and GWV Rebels small forward Ollie Hannaford. After losing Tom Barrass, they have expressed interest in competitive key defender Noah Mraz – who may be off the board by their second selection – and are eyeing off South Fremantle defender Tom Bell as a later pick. All-Australian Clancy Dennis is another WA key back with appeal at the back-end, while they are among the clubs who could place a bid on St Kilda NGA defender Lenny Hofmann.
The Eagles have done their homework on Geelong Falcons midfielder Xavier Ivisic and are among local footy smokey Sam Toner’s suitors. They have nominated NGA speedster Malakai Champion, who finished second in the agility test and fifth the 20m sprint at the combine, and could receive a late bid or slide to the rookie draft. West Coast have also showed a continued interest throughout the year in raw Sudanese ruckman Ajang Kuol mun, 22, who won the vertical jump test at the state combine.
I mentioned to a few on here throughout the year, we had a strong interest in Lenny Hofmann (saints NGA). He's Brighton grammar under Simon McPhee, so reckon we'll bid on him late.

I like Xavier Ivisic, doesn't get talked about enough on here. Just shows the depth of the draft.

Seems some interest in Shanahan which I like given we don't have pick 3 for an elite mid anymore.

2025 draft, take mids, mids and more mids with all our picks (until we do something stoopid again).

All the rumours should still be taken with a huge grain of salt, could easily be feigning interest in certain players to force someone else to trade up to take them. However Cals the one to listen to too

Also question for the board, if we do take Ajang Kuol mun and don't take Knobel, does that mean we're still "too nice" or we rated someone else more?

It will be some player we didn't even think of. Then everyone will whinge it was the worst draft ever and complain for the next 10 years how we didn't pick player x. Even though that player never goes on to do anything special. And repeat next year.

Ginbey himself has written himself off as a midfielder and that's from his own mouth. Mini has him training as a defender.

Doesn't have the smarts/craft and who cares because more than happy with him back there, looks way more natural.
I took that as a short term write off, nothing wrong with staring in defence and transitioning to the midfield over time.

Don’t see why he couldn’t at worst become a version of Rowbottom in there, if that’s where he was required.
