the draft starts at 3.45 WST for those interested.
Ah yes the coverage of the draft, my favorite part of Televised AFL content for the year. (apologies this probably belongs in the other thread)

'Selected with Pick 43, Liam Fawcett for Richmond'

Foxfooty analysts: Yea Liam Fawcett, great pickup at 43, looks like a bit of a hybrid cross between Patrick Dangerfield and Dustin Martin, great explosive speed and can break a tackle. Will be great for Richmond

"and in the half hour we have to wait for pick 44, let's run through the entire 2016 draft"

**** me. Why didn't we trade a Future pick to get ahead of Richmond at 43? We could have used Liam!

Executed the entire off season terribly, hard to believe that even my worst nightmare was somehow better than what we did, lol.

Still in disbelief we’re going into this loaded draft with just picks 12 and 26, it’s inexcusable.

To think that not so long ago I was angry at the possibility of trading 14 for Baker and 21.

At least at this point, things have already been so laughable that I'm in full **** it mode for pick 12. Hotton ACL worry? Don't care, draft him. Reid massive flight risk? Don't care draft him. Take two talls, whatever.

I remember most of us collectively melting when Ralph suggested 3 for Baker and 6 was a possibility

Boy do I wish that’s how it eventuated now haha.

Neither of their answers filled me with much confidence TBH.

They both 100% tick all the boxes as a typical Sandringham Vic metro flog that wants to stay in Vic... That's just a pattern.

Stiff shit. National comp boiz. We got ya for 3 years. 3 years of playtime.
Is three years for all R1 selections or just the top 10?

Twomey having us with Bowman is hopefully a throw at the stumps he has heard a club may go early. Since we are the final pick in his top 30, I am hoping there is no significance to him linking with us.

When we have small to medium forwards to burn and about to add Champion this year, Walley and Evans next year, Bowman makes no sense. With Charlie Banfield in 2025 draft as a wing/hff and Murphy linked to us who is a mid/fwd, I am hoping like hell this is a red herring link.

Especially reading the improvment areas - he does not accumulate it much and he lacks 4 quarter consistence. But by crikey, he can take a great hanger.

I am pretty comfortable with picks 12 and 26 - there will be very good options at both slots.

What I do not want is for Clarke Kent (well done Monocle) to try to recovery from his stuff up and to buy back into the pointy end. Happy to give away from later future picks to get a couple of picks in the 40 and 50 range.

We have to accepted this year's draft will only be OK, but that we have a great hand in 2025 (in addition to 3 club tied prospects). It is probably not a bad thing to allow Mini to get a full look at the list and to give players a chance who may not have been platinum members of the Credit in the Bank team. It will also give him a year to see who can play his game plan. We also get to see if Hewett is over his foot issue, whether Ginbey can follow the Yeo trajectory, whether Hutchinson can play midfield more than the 1 half he was given, etc

We need midfielders and this year is pretty good - Lindsay or Murphy would normally be top 10 in most years while we are contemplating them at 15 (was 12) shows the first level of depth. Having midfield options like Oliver, Gross, Moraes, etc at 26 is another level of he depth as they would be late teens in other years. This year I expect we will take a KPD at some stage - it could be at 12, 26 or later.

Anyone wanting us to pick Trainor - please read up on his multiple concussions and ask yourself if he the sort that we need. A partner to LEdwards (edit) Venables and Sheppard in the forthcoming legal action.

**** me that would have been 100% better than what occurred even if we had to throw some later picks in. Would have been able to still get a gun mid.

Hope we go Hynes at 15
Get in before Bulldogs
Hotton knee sounds bad should be running by now
Murphy is treakle slow i dont think his evasion at afl level will be enough to overcome that defiency so projects as a bust to me
I respect the hell out of the fact you always have your own opinion and you stand by it.

However, we really need a clean user. If it can't be Sid the Kid (which, it can't), might as well throw our eggs in Reid Mk 3. It's not as if he's a Matt Priddis 1.4l engine level slow.

I was all in on Draper but watching more highlights he makes terrible decisions when disposing by hand.He seems to move at a million miles an hour and rush his handballs.
Don’t watch how he gets the ball; watch how he gets rid of the ball.

Draper will play 200+ games and make 3+ AA teams. He's going to be a gun. Very upset we aren't getting him, would have been a perfect compliment to Reid.

I can't even work out why people are saying he's slow. Certainly doesn't look like it from his clips.

Rookieme say hes "not blessed with explosive speed" but that doesnt mean slow

And then there's this...

"A midfielder-forward who has speed to burn, which allows him to burst away from congestion and use the ball with precision. Reads the game exceptionally well, is a prolific ball winner and creative and innovative when in congestion." - Kevin Sheehan.

Opinions are like bumholes, as they say
