I just can't comprehend why we would, but twomey sure as hell wouldn't bring it up if there wasn't merit to it.

On SM-A155F using BigFooty.com mobile app
Cal clearly has limited intel into what the Eagles are doing. Never linked us with anyone with our 2nd pick and just threw in the Norwood young bloke as that pick as he thinks he will go around 25.

He would have a fair idea of who we have interviewed, when and how many times from players and managers. I reckon that’s all he is going off with guessing our first pick.

In no world could we go a key forward if all those other players are still on the board. Reid/TT/Lindsay/Bo ect are gone this is a nightmare scenario and could happen, then we might have to if the trade value isn’t there to trade back but that should be there and nab Hynes + someone else

Would anyone do this trade with Essendon

Trade our F2 and F3 for 28 and 31 before a Kako bid which has already been raised

Assume a Kako bid comes before our pick

Trade pick 12 for the 2xF1 picks Essendon hold (theirs and Melbourne’s)

Gives us 26,28,31 in this draft

But we go into 2025 holding 4x R1 picks - ours, Essendon, Melbourne and Hawthorn. We’d also have R2 and R3 picks attached to Hawthorn

Essendon will lose 28 and 31 matching a Kako bid and are on record as wanting to get back into R1 of the draft after a bid

We get a look at 3 decent picks in this draft and hold what could well be 4 picks in the top 12-14 of next year.
Not wedded to any of the picks at 15, so yes I'd trade out. 2x F1st would get it done

The club has to sort out the WAFL debacle, I can’t see the league side succeeding until the players in the 2’s are playing in a competitive team. Unfortunately the players we draft are likely to head straight to a WAFL team getting humbled each week, that’s not the right way to build them up.
Hopefully Pyke is working feverishly behind the scenes to address that, let’s not spend time worrying about the blow up eagle head, let’s fix the footy department, so the players drafted want to stay.

I don't remember being this uninterested in the draft for a long time, what a shitshow
I'm just interested to see if the club can botch this any further. Nothing at all will surprise me tomorrow though as I'm expecting the worst. Sad really.

Hopefully we can regain some respect and take Lindsay or Reid if they last that long.

Also hoping we don't try and trade back into the late 1st round and burn next year's picks.

We have pick 2?
We won't have pick 1 as that's Richmond's. They're going to bottom out in 3 years.

You honestly believe that we're going to improve that much where we'll finish above the Roos, Crows or Dees?

Crows and Dees had a percentage over 30% better than ours.

Buck up pal, get excited.

Pick 3 will get us a great player. FOS, Draper, Smilie, Jager, there's so much talent at the top end of this draft we really can't lose!

LIst rebuild is on the way back buoys!.

Wrote it, then had to delete ffs. Just love how people are chasing an instant sugar hit rather than building a competitive list.
I understand why they did it. The club's new leadership's had enough of 60/70/80 point blowouts so they brought in a few blokes that can hopefully stop the bleeding if shit goes south quickly, but God damn, we've lost so much for so long the first chance we get to partner number 9 with another highly touted youngster we trade it away when there were other avenues available to have kept the pick...it's just really f*cking annoying

I got no desire to follow the draft tomorrow so I'll see who we pick up when we announce it on Twitter or Instagram. I just don't care.

Spare you this thought:

If we pick up a gem with pick 12, then Clarke will be seen as a genius and be with us for next decade who can do no wrong.

We will also split everything from now on and continue to over pay. But that doesn’t matter if pick 12 ends up all Australian.

If we do get a gem with 12 which will become 15, then we will have defied the 40 year average that the kid plays 83 games instead of 138. Not to mention the quality of those games. Clarke is not and will never be a genius, he’ll be the guy that got lucky after a stupid decision.

We can only hope that stupid decision is not compounded tomorrow, but it sounds like he’s doing his best to do just that.

The Shanahan rumours remind me of the Chesser rumours the day before that draft too. If we take a forward first pick this draft either we expect all the top end mids will be gone by our first pick, or we expect Oscar to leave via F/A and are accepting of the band 1 he'll bring and will hit next years draft with picks 2, 3, Hawks first to take best mids available.
