From one of the mocks on the D&T board:

Everyone'd be happy with that, right?

If Champions height continues to jump by 5cm every time I read his name we aint going to be needing to draft another key position player.

I am finding it hard to muster interest in the draft either. Too painful to revisit and be reminded of Pyke and Clarkes's disastrous trades.

And the excuse they gave that all the other club's will hate us forever and refuse to deal with us going forward if we low ball Richmond or don't give them exactly what they want from the trade. Such a load of crap. We didn't get what we wanted or considered fair in the Barrass trade. The bulldogs didn't get what they wanted in the Bailey Smith trade this year. We didn't get what we considered fair the last time we traded out a player either (i.e. Rioli). But i doubt very much any club refuse to deal with the recieving club from those trades in the future. You are not under any obligation to make sure the club trading the player out goes away with a smile on their face.

Here's the winners on the last 25 yrs of combine 20m sprint. Don't see many players here that went onto 200 game careers. Our own Petch is there and we know what we all think there!

The repeat sprint testing is more reliable. You might only run 3.00 20m but if you can do it repeatedly with little degradation of time viola.

The average for most years is 3.00-3.05

Jobe Shanahan instead of Reid who was still available
Don't think we need to worry too much about Woodcock's opinion.
No chance he gets Eagles intel after torching us for the last 2 years.
He also has Smith at 2 to North & Langford getting to Saints. Reckon he's just trying to be different.

The Shanahan rumours remind me of the Chesser rumours the day before that draft too. If we take a forward first pick this draft either we expect all the top end mids will be gone by our first pick, or we expect Oscar to leave via F/A and are accepting of the band 1 he'll bring and will hit next years draft with picks 2, 3, Hawks first to take best mids available.

Unless of course the universe collapses in on itself before next years draft and we all die in an avalanche of pure misery, of course.

Listening to Mini on Gettable saying that WC will take the best available talent with their first pick...

If Jobe Shanahan is still on the board at our pick I think we take him... I think Richmond would be stupid to overlook him as I think he's emerging as the highest rated KPP in the draft. I think this is why Essendon want to get back into the 1st round of the draft, and I hope we capitalise on this.

Hopefully Melb/Tigers select a KPP and Lindsay falls through to us - I have cooled on TT, especially with Mini saying Ginbey will be settled at half back for the time being.

When did they give that excuse?

When did they give that excuse?
Pyke said it explicitly and publicly when confronted in interviews during trade week with the criticism from Kane Cornes and others that they should have walked Baker to the PSD or at least threatenned it to get Richmond to accept a low ball offer.

Lots of other media at the time of the awful trades also explained that that was the reason for it.

The theory is that we made commitments to Baker and Richmond earlier in the year that we would get the deal done and promised Richmond a ballpark price. And if we had re - negged on that player managers would not want to deal with us in the future. And also that there is some taboo over threatenning other clubs with PSD to get a lower price and if you do that you are breaking some secret code and other clubs won't trade with you anymore.

Instant sugar hit sounds more like trading out our pick 3 for a 28 and 27 year old, rather than using it to secure a high end talent that will be around for years to come.
Could not have said it better myself. It baffles that it even needs to be said really.

It's obvious to most, even for outsiders.

Buck up pal, get excited.

Pick 3 will get us a great player. FOS, Draper, Smilie, Jager, there's so much talent at the top end of this draft we really can't lose!

LIst rebuild is on the way back buoys!.

We could do that OR we could go for a sugar hit since were all so desperate for a competitive list now now now and trade in a 27 year old Hobbit with a mullet to play in the back pocket and ANOTHER 28 year old small to mid forward despite having multiple young smalls that need game time.

If we do get a gem with 12 which will become 15, then we will have defied the 40 year average that the kid plays 83 games instead of 138. Not to mention the quality of those games. Clarke is not and will never be a genius, he’ll be the guy that got lucky after a stupid decision.

We can only hope that stupid decision is not compounded tomorrow, but it sounds like he’s doing his best to do just that.

What is he sounding like doing?

I think someone put Whitfields name in the same sentence as TT and everyone became attached. They really aren’t much alike and unless TT is playing midfield Id rather Lindsay.
Lindsay seems to have gone up the draft boards into top 10 territory. Doubt he makes it to 15 where our pick will be

Old mate Gimp Clarke really has completely evaporated whatever positivity this board had left after the last few years hasn’t he?

No he hasnt.

He has flushed a hell of a lot of closet bed wetters into the open though.

Its been like reading lemmings discussing the end of the football world for the Eagles.
