Started with picks 3,23,63 plus a bunch of picks from R5 and beyond (before FA compo picks)

Traded out Barrass and Darling along with our F3 and F4 picks

Brought in -
Jack Graham (FA)
Liam Baker
Matt Owies
Bo Allan
Jobe Shanahan
Tom Gross
Lucca Grego
Hamish Davis

The decision to trade pick 3 will forever be controversial as will the trade of pick 14 for Baker but our draft haul has gone a long way to balancing that ledger

And we have the 2025 R1,2&3 picks belonging to Hawthorn who we get to death ride next year

Well done WCE_phil BOND 007 and company
👍

ruck is still a big concern.
forget burgiel just take knobel.
One early-ish drafted ruck on the list is enough for mine. Conventional wisdom now seems to be the draft isn't the place for most rucks.

Absolutely killed it. Feeling really confident with every one of our picks from this draft. Gross looks like an absolute gun, I just cant see how a Travaglia or even Lindsay get rated 30+ picks higher than him.

Happy we traded pick 3 now, genius foresight by the drafting team to leverage it like they did.

Calling it very early but If we can rookie Champion id be confident of this being our most successful draft in a long long time.

The turnaround in mood in 48 hours is quite something
Really doesn’t excuse the dogshit negotiations but you take that now given the way it’s worked out. The value fell our way and we nailed it.

Maybe some handshake agreements with Richmond for some of our targets given they had picks directly before us more often than not?

Pretty sure we can move Dewar off cat B list onto regular rookie list and pick up champion as a cat B .

Did it last year with Baker and Livingstone

There is a 0% chance Tigers or North take Champion before us after the good faith dealings we showed them. I’m also pretty sure clubs can now match any NGA rookie bid with their next available pick anyway.

Think that’s probably overestimating our team. Look at the Richmond/North deal. Offer they couldn’t refuse and then for North to not take Shanahan is just luck for our part.

More ass than class but they nailed it when given the chance I reckon.

We’ve very clearly prioritised hard, aggressive footballers over skills. Love the Gross selection, he’s an animal and will run straight out the front of the contest.

Expecting move the ball forward at all costs and a contested, manic style of play with fast ball movement, we’ve certainly drafted for it.

On us:
WEST COAST EAGLES

Picks (at the start of draft): 12, 26, 72

Selections: Bo Allan (16), Jobe Shanahan (30), Tom Gross (46), Lucca Grego (48), Hamish Davis (65)

The Eagles can be considered one of the biggest winners of the draft after landing top West Australian talent Bo Allan. The Peel Thunder product had top-10 interest this year but slid all the way down to the Eagles at Pick 16. West Coast managed to secure Pick 45 as well as a result of sliding back an extra selection, with the Power trading up to land Joe Berry instead. Bendigo Pioneers forward Jobe Shanahan was one of the biggest sliders of the draft and was a massive steal at Pick 30, while the Eagles continued their stellar draft by snagging All-Australian midfielder Tom Gross at Pick 46. Western Jets on-baller Lucca Grego also gets his chance, while local product Hamish Davis was a bargain at Pick 65, too. One of the biggest winners, if not the biggest winner, of the draft.

Grade: A+

Dewar needs to be on the main list. Looks a star.

Hope we take Champion tomorrow, real X factor.

Shanahan looks a genuine forward. Fluid run and kick. Not jerky

Great draft Eagles
