Richmond having an all time draft and trade period if they get Essendon's F1 for the first pick tonight.

They are ahead of our rebuild already lol.

If the measure you go by is how many top end first rounders they've got on their list from 1-2 drafts, then absolutely yes they are.

Gee whiz, every single thing has fallen into their ****ing lap this offseason. Extracted a king's ransom for each departing player, had spud clubs gifting them absolute charity (North, WCE)… Seemingly have not had one hiccup other than Graham's lower than expected FA compo.

However, be very bad for them if those player's don't come on, or don't develop because they're getting flogged each week and the only leadership they have is Balta, Taranto and Hopper.

On paper, I like Richmond's method and I'm very jelly, but nothing is guaranteed. Other than phase 1 of a rebuild, they haven't accomplished anything yet.

Nah think they are not happy with the latter part of the first round .

All of hannaford , Oliver and Dattoli would have been on their radar . Smalls with pace .

I think that is why they sold off that pick to norf as there was only talls available and they already had 3 .

Rumours were GWS were into the Whitlock twins and syd would take a KPD but instead they took the guys Richmond was after

Now they have a night to figure out what to do with their next pick

One elephant in the room we are forgetting is

How handy would priority picks have been this year?

Would have been game changing for us as a club. Instead we stood in the corner like cowards and didnt even ask :(

Maybe pick 44 is our priority pick .

We did great yesterday hopefully do well , this afternoons draft ( part two ).

I think they'll take Dobson, rucks need time plus already got a good hand next year

Pick 30 -
Davis/Gross/Boxshall (or Moraes if he’s available)

OR

Whitlock (or Shanahan if available)

Pick 44 -
Boxshall/Ough/Urquhart

OR

Nicholls/O’Farell/Mraz/Dennis/Barrat/Bell/Gerreyn

KPP with one pick, Midfielder with the other

Pick 68 -
May be needed to cover a bid on Champion (Covers pick 52 onward) otherwise best available at this pick - hopefully Artemis is still there

Pick 73 -
Champion if there’s been no bid

Rookie Draft -
Max Knobel (LOL - won’t happen) so maybe the Geelong ruck, Ajang Kuol mun that we’ve apparently been keeping an eye on. Otherwise best available or leave it open for a second train on spot

If there’s someone we’re keen on when the draft gets into the 50’s, rather than wait to pick 68, I’d be happy to see if someone with excess picks (like Brisbane) would take Hawthorn’s F3. Not interested in using any of our other 2025 picks to trade up

Also, depending on what Richmond do, we could be getting attractive offers from either Essendon or Geelong for our pick 30. If Dodson is still there then St Kilda might get on the phone trying to move up from 32

We really are well placed to round out our draft nicely

What else did we get from the Baker deal ?
Richmond not bidding on Allen

Pick 14 for Baker especially now the value of first rounders this draft has been established is a horrible trade like most people have said .

Let's say we intend to pick Shanahan, if they don't deal with Essendon who seem to want him then well of done reasonably well all things considered. If Allen makes it as a mid, certain things happen with KPP's leaving Shanahan our eventual fit at FF and Baker and Graham play a brand of footy that wins us over, then considering the Hawks paid overs for Barrass splitting pick 3 and paying 14 outright for Baker could be seen as a wi... could be seen as forgivable. [Gee, almost said it.]

You say that like its a bad thing when it really isnt

The bad thing for us is all 3 players they traded receieved absurd overpays.... and then they got another overpay with pick 27. Cake has more cherries on it then a cherry farm
And now they're ****ed for at least the next 4 years.

Good luck developing/keeping players in a system where you're forced to play the kids ahead of time and they get smashed week after week, year after year, especially when they're playing in an empty MCG.

We've seen how quickly their supporters drop off when they go bad

They'll be jerkin' the gherkin over this draft and trade period but it's going to take half a decade, and likely multiple head coaches, to turn that turd around.

Sellwood as mature age pickup a possibility too. Perhaps rookie draft

Tigers are 2 to 1 least wins next year.

There is no more certain way to double your money.

If the Dons F1 is in front of us we should take it. I don't think they'll be close to finals next year. Ditto think cats will also drop off.
Bombers have to be a strong chance to be bottom 4 next year. Look at the teams that finished 2-3 games below them and that was with their crazy start. Adelaide, GC, Saints, Melbourne. Then there’s us and the Roos who could be anywhere from last to 13th.

Dodson and Shanahan making these next 3 picks high value still. Assuming the Dogs won’t take either.

Cats F1 + 42 for 30 (Dodson)

Atleast I only broke a lamp when we traded a first rounder for Liam Baker
