Least watched Allan Border medal ever? Usually this thread is pretty popular. Or didn't Mitch's missus wear a revealing outfit?
Usually also on CH9 so alot of people would be missing it

Me I'm recording it so I can watch it later and skip all the crap reducing it to about a 20 minute telecast :D

Voting system is stupid, it should be voted like a B&F where every player that plays gets votes for the game ranging from say;

Tests = 1 to 50
ODI = 1 to 10
T20 = 1 to 5

somethings like that

Voting should be by the selection panel and coach, same as the match committee in footy. Might actually force the selectors to watch matches.

Marcus North in the top 4 of test players of the year behind Watson, Hussey and Johnson says that we were not very consistent or when North was good he was very good and visa versa, which was better than the rest of them. If only North had been an nsw vice captain, he may still be playing. part media perception

I like North, but nah.

Clarke has been pretty good in international cricket over his career, there's reasons to dislike him, but the Clarke hate is way over the top. It's not his fault if the selectors continue to pick he and other players who are clearly out of form.

How the **** was Johnson second best test player of the year?

When he was on song, he got BOG's but didn't get any minor votes that other more consistent players such as Watson gets. I had him with 3 BOG's, not sure how the actual vote was but I'd say they'd give at least a couple.

T20 votes are multiplied by 1.5??? WTF? (not doubting you btw, just can't figure this out - they should be less important than ODI's).

The only reason why they're weighted as they are (you're right, it's a joke) is to reflect the fewer number of games played so the 20 over specialists have some chance of winning the award.

The next ABM sees fewer T20's played though with no World T20 so expect this form to be very heavily weighted if indeed T20's are included. In that period, if the FTP is accurate we'll probably have 12 tests (3 @ SL, 3 @ RSA, 2 vs NZ, 4 vs IND), anywhere between 5-8 T20's (1-2 vs SL, 1-2 vs RSA, 1-2 vs NZ, 2 vs IND) and 25-31 ODI's (1 vs Eng played yesterday, 6-9 in the WC, 5 vs SL, 5 vs RSA, 8-11 vs NZ and IND in either seperate or tri-nations series), and that doesn't include unlikely but possible series in Bangladesh (2T + 3OD) and against Zimbabwe (3 OD).

Essendon have had their B&F the last four years, now THAT is a joke!

i like this post if only for 2009

but now to talk about the thing that was most talked about in the lead-up to the medal...steve smith's date

let's all give the future captain some well earned due. he's done a terrific job here.

It just shows how poor the Aussies have been this year, batting, bowling, it's been pretty much solid crud... but one thing you can say that when he is switched on, he doesn't just look like the best player we've got, he looks like the best player in the world.

And he does occasionally switch on.

Not sure if you're aware but that's not his missus. Michael Clarke was trying to set up a date for him on twitter which led to all the criticism about him using it .
