Stark contrast pre-test match. One upset at an isolated slight.
The other recognising its merely return fire in gamesmanship. One of the pitches on that tour was farcical as well.

The curators prepare wickets (whether they be practice or game) well in advance with a plan in mind. India rocked up two days earlier than said and are whinging about it.

It's like rocking up to EB Games, asking for the new Pokémon game two days before the release date and having a hissy fit when they tell you no.

First two days showing with Smith is the no.1 guy in the foursome of Smith, Kohli, Root and Williamson.

2 are WTC winners. 3 are CWC winners (only 1 away from home) - albeit Root and Williamson could be reversed as the 2019 tie break was crapshoot.

Root and Williamson the far better individuals, but far less success.

Williamson wins if not for a fluke deflection from Stokes

Jimmy and Harmi had a few too many schooners.
I can understand but completely disagree with Root over Smith. That's just bias with him being English.

But Freddie ahead of Jacques Kallis is just bonkers. Scored 12000+ at a higher average than Sachin, but also got close to 300 wickets as well.

Pant ahead of Gilchrist is utter gibberish also. Gilchrist is the legend all keepers that follow try to emulate.

Cook
Sehwag
Williamson
Smith

Sachin
Kallis
Gilchrist (+)

Warne
Johnson
Bumrah

Steyn

Bumrah vs McGrath, Johnson vs Broad incredibly tight. I'm disappointed that G Smith couldn't get a gig ahead of Warner or Rohit. Bizarre that Lara, Sangakkara, Ponting and Murali weren't included over KP and Ashwin. Best I've seen (really hard to split a few):

Smith (c)
Sehwag
Sangakkara
Kallis
Lara
Ponting (him vs Sachin was so tight)
Gilchrist (+)
Warne
Steyn
Bumrah
McGrath

And second cos all of these guys are unlucky:

Cook
Hayden
Williamson
Tendulkar
Smith
Kohli
Dhoni (+, c)
Johnson
Rabada
Anderson
Murali

Close to 90k at the G for Boxing Day and boy can the AFL learn a lot about the entrance and exit today.
Entry was painless, arrived with less than 20 minutes before first ball and took no time at all to get in. Took no time to get a drink before play. Even the bottleneck at Richmond Station as everyone was leaving was non-existent... Which then usually flows on to a mad dash at Southern Cross to get a train home.

All 3 of these things are usually painful at AFL games at the G, often with less attendees.
The concourses, lounges and bar areas having very effective air-con systems was also a welcome quality of life nicety.
Agreed. Was excellent coming in this morning (and looks like there's roughly 50-60k here already)
