Reading through my Inside Carlton magazine last night, I recalled how well we did last year in getting in excess of 1 million people through the gates to watch us play. That gave me an idea - to keep track of how well we are going in 2009, and to see if we can go back to back and get another 1 million people through the gates in 2009.

After round 4, this is the attendance ladder. I will update this thread after the completion of each round throughout the year:

Carlton 230,713
Richmond 196,284
Geelong 190,826
Collingwood 178,206
Hawthorn 173,876
Essendon 160,029
Adelaide 153,233
Western Bulldogs 152,119

Melbourne 133,676
Nth Melbourne 131,908
West Coast 131,390
Brisbane 129,192
St.Kilda 128,963
Sydney 124,376
Port Adelaide 120,445
Fremantle 117,456

Wow! I didn't know that we had that many already this year.

To be fair, it would have a lot to do with the hype of Round 1 and playing Essendon in Round 3. Still, a damn good effort.

I remember when I used to go to VFL Park in Waverley, which was about 55 minutes from me. In the cold, rain etc and sit there all game and get soaked and frozen to my seat.

Amen to that..... ahhhh the good old days & walking through the car park in the mud!!!!!
Looking at the game tonight Tigers v Kangaroos, I say the public/fans have gone soft as not much of a crowd there.....could the rain have anything to do with it???? If so, weak as IMO

Get out there, rain hail or shine & get behind your club I say :thumbsu:

Remember those days as well. It was always a nightmare trying to find the car after the game too!

Collingwood playing Hawthorn and Geelong twice at the G and us only playing them once will probably see them pass us by the end of the year if they are in the 8.
