Same goes for Carlton v Sydney last year 92,000 with lowest Swans turnout I've ever seen.

If Carlton and Essendon had the same success as Collingwood over the last 20 years it wouldn't be so clear cut.
Let’s look at clubs all time H and A record and which club it was against

Adelaide - Collingwood
Brisbane- Richmond
Carlton - Essendon
Collingwood - Melbourne
Essendon - Collingwood
Fremantle- Collingwood
Geelong - Collingwood
Gold Coast - West Coast
GWS - West Coast
Hawthorn- Collingwood
Melbourne - Collingwood
North Melbourne - Collingwood
Port Adelaide - Collingwood
Richmond - Collingwood
St Kilda- Collingwood
Sydney - Collingwood
West Coast- Collingwood
Bulldogs- Richmond

Insane. 12 out of 17 clubs we play have their all time H and A record against Collingwood.
How many against the Blues?

Collingwood play more games at the MCG than Carlton and Essendon, so it’s hardly surprising. Attendance aggregates are misleading and limited in value.

My point you need public holidays to break records
Melbourne - Collingwood ph
Essendon - Collingwood ph
Hawthorn - Collingwood ph
Richmond - Collingwood ph
Non public holiday
Collingwood - Carlton
Carlton -Essendon
Richmond -Carlton
Carlton - Fitzroy

Thanks for proving our point. Your away crowds are woeful as you have no National drawing power. I love when you don’t need to present facts and someone beats themselves
You brought up Marvel you do realise Carlton and Essendon have bigger followings in WA and SA than Collingwood, Collingwood have just had a golden run the last 20 years form does impact crowds.

Carlton sold the most away tickets v Brisbane in last year's final, broke the SCG record this year, Port's highest home crowd non Crows, Highest Suns crowd in Qld.

Settle down Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon all have huge national drawing power.

I disagree. Collingwood has the most supporters Australia wide hands down, but probably only just in front of WC. They got 90K to the Freo final at the G in 2022 when probably be lucky to have 5K going for Freo there. No one else can draw like that vs an interstate team.

If the Collingwood Melbourne fan base is undisputed, why would Carlton/Essendon have more or equal in other states than Collingwood when it probably just a factor of migration out of Melbourne for work?
Richmond drew 95k to a preliminary final against GWS in 2017.

How many they draw against them on average in home games at the MCG not counting finals? Eagles get nearly full house every time. No matter what team.
How come you guys don’t get big crowds against all clubs like the Eagles do?

And then a year later Collingwood drew 97 k v gws. That game was the loudest and most one sided crowd of all time. Unless the mcg increases its capacity it Will remain the biggest crowd for a Victorian club v an interstate club.

Yet Collingwood have drawn bigger crowds in WA and South Australia then Carlton and Essendon!

Collingwood are bigger the Carlton and Essendon in nsw, act and Queensland. Collingwood have a massive following everywhere. Carlton and Essendon are big clubs but Collingwood is the biggest club in Australia!

Look and social media followers Collingwood are 190 k ahead of Essendon and 200 k ahead of Carlton in total Facebook, Twitter and instagram followers per club

And it total attendances Collingwood are over 7 million ahead of Carlton and 7.5 million ahead of Essendon. So on paper it ain’t that close
And that is why Collingwood stand alone amongst the Victorian clubs as a Powerhouse.

Consistency of strong performances on the field and consistency of pulling big crowds through the gates.

Not sure the AFL will allow the Easter Monday match against Hawthorn when Geelong host to not be at the MCG.
If I was the Cats, I’d be giving Hawks home rights all the time for Easter Monday if that meant playing all home games in Geelong and play the hawks later in the season at the Cattery.

This is incorrect on Geelong
The game v Carlton this year is the clubs highest home and away crowd

Interesting post.

Surprised to see the Demons as high as they are, as they are a club which has tradionally had quite low membership numbers, even when they are up and about.

Hawthorn's lowly spot raised an eyebrow, but is actually not all that surprising really. Their supporters are known to be quite fair-weather, which is one reason why they are not really one of big 4/5, as they sometimes claim to be.

The two alleged superpowers on a public holiday eve could not break 89,000 with both teams on fire and entrenched in the 8. Collingwood vs Essendon would have got 94000 in similar circumstances.

Seemed a bit late for a Sunday night game, even with the public holiday tomorrow. Not getting home til after 11pm would dissuade a few families.

There have only been two H&A games in history that have drawn over 90,000 on a non-public holiday. Just two. Ever.

Carl-Ess in 2000 which drew over 91,000 and Rich-Carl in 2018 when the Tigers were unfurling their premiership flag.

Attendances of 90,000 just don’t happen unless it’s a public holiday. High 80’s is pretty much the limit. The game in 2000 was, in my opinion, the biggest build up to a H&A game in history and stands alone as the most insane build up to a game the sport has ever seen with one team on a 19-game win streak versus another who had won 13 of their last 14. The game had 10-week build up as the Bombers and Blues kept winning.

Coll-Ess on the Kings Eve wouldn’t have drawn 90,000 in my humble opinion. I suspect it would be high 80,000s similar to the Collingwood-Carlton Friday night game earlier this year.

90,000 just doesn’t happen on a non-public holiday unless it’s under the most extraordinary of circumstances.

Collingwood supporters beating their chests again over all things AFL. Can't even talk about the game without Nick Daicos entering the conversation. No one cares
