Toast The Big 4 all getting over a million people through the gate in season 2023

Collingwood have the biggest attendance. The other big 4 clubs basically get their numbers inflated by playing Collingwood twice and getting an extra 40-50K rock up to an away game.

If this was the goal of the AFL, they should have a WA3 & SA3 team so there are another 4 block busters a year. WA3 would then make an extra 10K seats at Optus viable too.
Forgot our big crowds against the blues, dees and bombers were thanks to Collingwood fans.

Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond.
All have managed to get over a million people through the gate in season 2023.

No other club has ever managed to get a million people or more through the gate in a home away season.
It's why these clubs are the big 4.
It’s not a million people.

Think about it.

Power ahead of the Crows. Did they lend them the tarps...

1. We got sent on a tour of regional shitholes this year at grounds with f all capacity. Ballarat, Darwin, Launceston and Geelong which is at reduced capacity.

2. We are lower on the ladder than they are.

3. We have copped a lot of crap timeslots due to no. 2

4. We beat them on home attendances.

Imagine ignoring all of the above to make a petty joke that wasn't even funny.

Ess could do 2 mill if they EVER get their act together.
I Collingwood cannot draw 2 million Essendon most certainly wouldn’t. I’m fact the biggest home and away attendance that Essendon have ever drawn was 1,169,000 in 1998! Collingwood are the only club to draw over 1.2 million during the home and away season and the pies have done this 7 times. Collingwood are on target to smash the all time attendance record this week and will probably just fall short of the 1.4 million mark. Next two rounds for Collingwood will most likely draw;

V Brisbane 45,000 at Marvel
V Essendon 75,000 at mcg!

Total attendance 1,392,000

If Essendon upset gws then I have no doubt the draw will be 87-90,000 to try and get into the finals

Collingwood playing more games at the MCG and sitting on top of the ladder and off the back of a successful season last year vs Essendon playing less at the MCG and being mediocre and coming off the back of a pretty s**t season.

Definitely not clear at all that Collingwood is all that far ahead of Carlton or Essendon's supporter base once those two sides get their s**t together and play at a more consistent level.
Look at the Collingwood crowds v interstate clubs at the mcg.

Port Adelaide 60,000
Sydney 71,000
Gws 37,000 on Mother’s Day at 4:40pm
Adelaide 66,000
Fremantle 61,000

Essendon played Port Adelaide in front of 38,000 at the mcg

Collingwood are the biggest and have always been. Richmond, Carlton and Essendon have not been able to draw the crowds collingwood have been drawing this year

Essendon arent at that level. Lets be serious here.

Theres a big gap between Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton down to Essendon.

Are they though? You get 40-50 max at a home game vs interstate. Therefore 80k vs another big 4 club besides Collingwood is about the norm. You’re no bigger than Freo or Adelaide in terms of regular attending supporters once you remove the advantages.

Collingwood & WC has a ton more support. WC don’t have a big enough stadium to prove it though.

You must have been living under a rock when we got 95 thousand to a prelim vs GWS.

Or 75k against Brisbane if you want a home and away example.

But they must have all just been magpie fans right?

Yet Essendon have filled a higher percentage of the stadiums to Richmond this season.

Let's be serious. You're wrong, you got shown up in your North vs Essendon thread and you're trying to save face here by shooting from the hip.

Havent been remotely near running the show for over two decades, and it isnt changing anytime soon.

If Carlton win a flag in the next few years, which is a great chance, they will go to number 1. Collingwood and Richmond are already well clear of Essendon.
Tell me how Richmond are "well clear" of Essendon despite filling a lower % of capacity this season?

Do I have to point out how shit Essendon have been ? To still pull in the numbers they do is extrodinary. The top up year, where winning the toss was considered a victory, Essendon outdrew that years premier.
All teams have bandwagons, rich and carl are perfect examples, particularly richmond who nearly went out of existence due to their crowds deserting them. Ess and Coll have the largest core of supporters who show up no matter how they are doing onfield.
We have been a disgrace for two decades, the crowds we drag in don’t make sense, the club doesn’t really deserve the loyalty shown compared to what they have put us through.
Ess and Coll run the show, have done since day one. Sorry.

How were they a few years ago, say 2016 and 2017, when you weren't winning?

When you adjust for form [made a prelim, #1 on ladder 2023], and the massive attendace fixture free kick they get [2 games vs all big 4 clubs, most games at MCG, anzac day fixture, kings bday fixture], Collingwood is probably the smallest of the Big 4 clubs by a significant margin.

You can’t even get your facts right. You might want to check a few of them again before you embarrass yourself further.

Lol look at our crowds against interstate clubs this year. Has Carlton ever drawn over 50,000 v an interstate club.

Collingwood is the biggest by a huge margin. Carlton would actually be the smallest out of the big 4 Victorian clubs in Melbourne. Interstate the blues would be third behind collingwood and Essendon

How is this a surprise to anyone? A league set up to prioritise the interests of these 4 clubs in particular, a mandated Vic Government/MCG rule that dictates that 10 of the top drawing games must be played at their ground, prime time fixturing and stand alone "Blockbuster", plus heavily promoted double up games all aids these figures. All generally played at a ground that has massive virtually "free" access through MCC/AFL membership for those that want to go these AFL endorsed and promoted games. Sure these guys are traditionally are high drawing clubs, but the league does everything in their power to create the absolute most conducive environment for them to thrive.
What took you so long to post this?

All I can say is bravo 👏👏👏.
Backs against the wall, Collingwood have pushed through such adversity this year to reach this remarkable achievement. It's been breathtaking to see them overcome everything that's been thrown at them. Starting with having to leave Victoria on 6 separate occasions, the league even had the audacity to send them to Adelaide three times! Salt was further rubbed in to the wound by only receiving a paltry 10 standalone Primetime fixtures, also having to leave the comforts of their beloved MCG and make the arduous journey to Marvel 3 times. It's not even their home ground!
I'm in total awe of them and their brave journey from rags to riches that is unfolding before us.

I must have missed Collingwood's second game against Richmond this year?

Facts are important.

I also think you're confusing the chicken with the egg.
