In terms of teams, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide might all be in trouble - but for very different reasons.

Melbourne's backline is a problem, despite the best efforts of Carroll etc.
Brisbane are unstable. That can't be a good thing.
Adelaide is aging. They may have missed their shot.

As for players, you reckon Fevola is in for some curry.

3rd best backline in the comp statistically, and the hardest backline in the comp to take a mark in (and it isn't flooding, its RIVERS).

Our issue isn't any particular area of our team, it isnt' forward, it ins't back it's not in the middle.

It's whether we haev the mental ability to maintain the rage for 22 rounds, AND whether we have enough to compensate for the fact wen don't have a genuine star player.

We don't have a Judd/Hall/Pavlich type player - Brock took some good steps towards it last year but he would have to improve on that AGAIN to get into the league of those three.

Neitz is as good a FF as there is in the comp right now, and will kick his 70+

Davey is still Aaron Davey, only needs it ten or so times a game and it will hurt the opposition

White is a very good ruckman and jamar/PJ offer adequate back up without being flash.

Rivers and Carrol are going great guns in defence with Matthew Whelan marshalling the troops back there.

TJ/Bruce/McDonald form a good experienced core for our midfield but the place where we really need the improvement to come from is: Sylvia, Jones, Bate, Miller

If those guys step up another notch this year we can do anything we want.

New recruits Tarrant, Solomon and Haselby are massive plus's. No club in the competition has made as much improvement over the offseason as the dockers.

Fremantle will improve - but not for the three reasons (players) you listed. You can't list Haselby as a recruit simply because last year was ruined by injury. If that were the case, the Eagles will be looking for improvement from their new recruit Mark Nickoski ;) Freo will welcome back a fully-fit Haselby (if he gets there), but a 'recruit'? No sir-ee Bob.

I don't think Essendon were sad to see the back of Dean Solomon and I struggle to see what he'd add to the Dockers outfit other than an overweight stopgap, while what can you say about Chris Tarrant other than if he were picked up by any other team (especially the WCE) a lot of Freo fans would pontificating about how much of a dud he is.

Freo's improvement will be in its younger players who already improved a great deal in 2006. And hopefully (I always loathe to talk of 'Freo' and 'hope' in the same sentence!) 2007 will see the last of McManus and Parker. Sorry Freo fans, neither are as good as they once were and they're a link to the former days of the club and its losing mentality. Shed those two and you can carry on further from last year.

So Davey, Yze, Bruce all these amazing players dont get many possesions, but influence the game...so who gets the ball on your team?

Either way I don't care and Bruce is B grade. A grade is AA material, which he is not. In fact, none of your team is AA material for 2007 except for Robbo. By thew way, I wasn';t bagging him, but he is too small to hold down the jobs hes holding down.

You keep showing a massive lack of knowledge buddy. Our main ball winners are Trav Johnstone, James McDonald, Daniel Ward and Brock McLean. Just fyi and all that ;)

How exactly is Russel Robertson too small to hold down forward pocket?

Havent you read all of the threads from Port prophets? They have looked into the future and are sure the Crows are in for doom, our juniors are no good, theirs are better and they are a good thing to win a flag before we do.

Personally I prefer to take the opinion of a current AFL coach, not fans with one hand on the keyboard and the other looking for their manhood.

I wouldn't say your juniors are noo good but I'd suggest that other teams doo have better youngsters than Crows and ours is one. I was good enough to look into your future at the start of this season and say you wouldn't win the 2nd showdown or the flag. Probably just lucky. Well no actually its cause I'm realistic. Its obvious that your team is ageing and can't match the Eagles who are the best team at the moment.

Now players to slide hmm
Sydney- Barry Hall? I'd expect a few in sydney theres alot of late 20's in there.
Adelaide- Mark Ricciuto hes an old fart and that hampstring will probably flare up again.

Port- Wakelin - Hes getting old had great weeks sometimes this year then ordinary the next. I noticed someone said Shaun Burgoyne and Lade I doubt that but maybe.

Hamill?
I'm pretty sure he has slid all the way down to the bottom already, could he really slide any lower?

Being deadset useless in a final, having a whopping 4 posessions and giving away as many free kicks, getting ragdolled repeatedly by Jared Rivers and almost being outed on teh Footy Show?

Would be pretty hard to get worse

Port to slide on to the wooden spoon! Their youngsters are crap, and West Coast will carve them up.

We can actually beat West Coast :thumbsu:

so it's all up for Sammy, so why are you talking about him here on this thread?(read: Braindead)
Besides it could be worse, he could be playing for your marshmellows and have to shoulder the whole pea heart side.

.

Well I must admit that was a bit of a joke, though not as big a joke as comparing Nickoski to Haselby...

Essentially we recieved Solomon for basically nothing, as far as I am concerned if he performs its a massive bonus, if not, no great loss.

Tarrant is a proven gun, no doubt about it. Struggled in a struggling collingwood side as their main go to guy.
Suddnely he is going to find himself with allot less pressure on him and able to play on the flank where he belongs opposed to a KPP.
Make no mistake about it, Pavlich makes allot of guys in our forward line look great much like your midfield does for Lynch.
Pav either wins the ball for himself, brings it to ground or compands multiple defenders leaving forwards free.
Much of Murphy's rapid development (I say rapid because he is still very raw and skinny) is due to Pav's prescence on field.
Tarrant will do well in a freo line up.

Had the eagle snared him, he would have done well there. Hell any forward can perform with that midfield. I didnt knock tarrant during the actual season, I cant see how I would have a leg to stand on if I knocked him just for going to the eagles.

I disagree, Freos improvement will be through a number of things:

1. Sandilands to become the best ruckmen i the comp, or at hte very least top 3. The guy will dominate and is constantly improving.

2. Addition of tarrant is massive as for the reason's I have stated above.

3. Pav factor, he is captain now and from when he had the role for a game of two he flourished.

4. Continued development of Mundy, Murphy, Peake, Crowley etc

5. McManus as per usual will be struggling to get a game, Parker's role will be further cut back with Thornton slowly brought in to replace him

Barring injuries we wont go backwards, you guys know better than any how good freo are.

I would have to nominate Fevola. He's lost his wife and further destroyed his reputation. It wouldn't surprise me if he had serious disciplinary problems this year. Not to mention he's bound to drop off a bit after a great 2006. I hope he doesn't its great watching full forwards dominate.

I am forgetting the pies of late, their supporter base on here seems to have dried up and certainly dont have the voice they once had. I must admit I am softening towards them some what.

That said the complete opposite is happening with the Demons and Hawks.
at your own peril:p
the Demons and Hawks are like little fluffy wind up toys, no threat :)

That peaheart side showed a lot more heart than your "boys" when it counted.

And yes it's all up for Sammy, I'm talking about him becasue someone brought it up - you kow just becasue someone's football career is over doesnt' mean I'm going to stop talking about them (he is still on your list anyway).

As much as I'd like it to be different, having rick James talk about you on Bigfooty doesn't instantly make you a player.

having Rick James talk on BF about anything amounts to zero really (your love of seeing players injured proves that)and yes I and I'm sure the club are very embarrased by being knocked off by the marshmellows of the league. Looking forward to the rectification.:thumbsu:

PS your admittance that your side is pea hearted gives me hope that you may be improving.

I have to admit since I have joined this site my antagonism & like for many teams has changed greatly (mainly influenced by the more vocal of their supporters) I also no longer "Dislike" the pies (though I dont want them to win, save me from all my Pie friends having something to back up their talk).

I think Fev will slide in form, which is a shame as I like watching the big forwards (then again with the new in the back rules I think forwards are going to have a dream year...which is altogether different from dominating with skill & strength).
I'd love to name a Melbourne player just to annoy RJ but to tell the truth I cant as they dont really have that many that stay in my mind.
