Are there players that are not being reported in the media / forums who want to leave?
No idea who's been reported in media other than Lonie. If that's all that's in media then there's definitely more. Half a dozen.

This needs to happen. Our s**tstain of a football department needs to be publically dragged through the mud until everyone is gone. We've all gone through acceptance of mediocrity far too long. Richardson should not have made it till end of year, let alone 2019.

Probably the Saints are expecting the Hawks to go down this week, then Ratten will be announced senior coach. The club will need to pay out for Richo, so some of our players wil traded off to balance finances, though the finances are in a sorry state.

There's something really wrong with the line of thinking to get in assistants to cover up weaknesses of the head coach. If you're already even thinking this, you've already got the wrong guy as head coach.

Getting in assistants to complement a coach is another thing which is what Richmond and Collingwood did. I honestly think Finnis has convinced himself that this is what he is doing with Richo. Finnis is delusional if that's the case and needs to be removed from the club ASAP.

But to bring in assistants to complement a coach, your sitting coach needs to be elite at something. Otherwise why would you keep him?

So what's Richo elite at Finnis?

Obviously not tactics since he was happily evicted from the coaching box for a large chunk of the season.

Obviously not his touted "development" skills since we almost never have young blokes getting better from when they came in, some of them even look better at the beginning of their careers before he gets a hold of them.... so it's not development.

Communication? Listen to all his media work. He is terrible at it. Sends everyone to sleep. Regurgitates the same cliches and words like an android stuck in a weird speech-holding pattern(strong in the contest, pleasing.... bleep... bleep).

Results? Worst 100 game record in history say he's poor at that too.

Surely, SURELY, he has to be sacked. This will be up there with our greatest pieces of self-destruction in our club's history if he isn't... because it will have serious flow-on effects keeping this bloke at our club for a minute longer than necessary.

it makes sense why they would tbh

the development system is one of the worst in the league, so if you are in the lower-middle tier it could quite seriously affect your career

plus it just means 2019 is going to full of speculation. it will kill another trade period. new coach coming in will require a season to right the ship at a minimum, so thats 24 months written off, which means if you are in the upper tier, you want out to play finals.

plus any new coach could mean delisting if they dont see a need for you

That's what's really shit, we are making list management decisions with out having any real long term certainty.

I guess the thing they don't want is to replace the coach only to find out that the list was shit and the side still sucks. I think they don't mind losing players because then even if Richo stays on then we can claim it was the exodus not their decision to keep him.

If they do get around to sacking Richo this week Bassat is going to be the embarrassed one. Phone calls to Richo apologising and then having coffee to reassure him. The media are already having a field day. They will go into hyper-drive.

If there are 6 players at least wanting out I am thinking that it includes some who aren’t contracted. And we obviously think they are ok to lose. Then the others are contracted. And we will endeavour to keep them.

The fact that the media aren’t reporting player unrest makes me wonder. I have no doubt MG and others have good mail, but why no media?

And I am cynical about Player Managers wanting their players out. If we are awash with money they should have pretty good deals. Why go to clubs who are under Cap pressure? Doesn’t all add up.

I confess I am confused.

I hope it does happen.

Just to prove how stupid we really are.

That's seriously scary that we are thinking the only way to get away from Richo is to trash ourselves. Its like drowning your dog to get rid of it's fleas.

Most are actually contracted. :poo:

Seriously if this prick stays on as coach and we lose good young players because of it I can’t see myself signing up as a member next year and I’ve been one since I was 8, shits a joke these muppets are putting themselves ahead of what’s best for the club, he should’ve been sacked after Good Friday ffs he’s no good his record speaks for it ****ing self

I thought so. Not an ideal scenario but if Richo is sacked next year instead of now, a top coach could be in place and stop the mass exodus as contracts run out. I’m still subscribing to the theory that the coach we want is not available until 2020.

But I accept that it could be as simple as 2 board members standing in the way. The only avenue then is to have a spill and start again?

I think you're overestimating the standards that AFL HQ have in regards to recruiting.

IF Finnis is one of 'their boys' then making a blue over a coaching appointment will be very quickly glossed over and the achievements Finnis has ticked off (Moorabbin redevelopment, Pride Match, etc) will be celebrated.

The only thing holding Finnis up from handing over to Lethlean is the lack of a plum gig at HQ. Whether something comes up in the next few weeks is the key question for us.

If richo stays he’ll be seen pretty much as Mark neeld with freckles he’s destroying the club by himself

to give melbourne their credit, it didnt take them this long to work out a coach was shit

this is the worst ive seen any club in regards to appointing a coach

seriously its pathetic shameful

If Richo was sacked this week after coffees and assurances it would be pretty ironic. There was scuttlebutt last year that I think (O'Kearney) had his exit interview with Richo and Cho wouldn't tell him to his face that there was no new contract for him despite the decision already having been taken. Apparently someone else contacted NOK a few days later to let him know he wasn't needed.

Yup. Richo couldn’t tell him to his face. Trout ended up telling him & saying words to the effect “ sorry mate but that campaigner didn’t have the balls to tell ya to ya face, we are not offering you a contract”. Laughable.

You know how ex Dees players been going off about Neeld’s interview last night? That’ll be Cho in a few years. Reckon he’s extremely hated at the club. Piss weak bloke.

I heard Trout had to do it.

You mean sacking a coach.

We don't need to appoint a coach as we have one.
