Majority rules is not how a court/tribunal system works, nor should it ever be. Let the evidence, and witnesses, and parties speak for themselves then trust in the powers that be to make the right decision.

I do believe that the MRP should make adjustments to their rulings and judge based on action rather than outcome. However at this time that is not how things are done and the decision will follow the current laws that we have in place.
I didn't say that public opinion should decide the outcome, just that there's a lot more than one person who will think the decision is wrong if the suspension is upheld or increased. It's not just a case of I don't agree so therefor it IS wrong, but more a case of a LOT of people don't agree so therefor there's a FAIR CHANCE that it's wrong.
We can trust the powers that be as much as we want, but I think history shows that, in the MRP's case at least, they are wildly inconsistent. Considering we have history and precedent in this very same round with Parker and Baguley.

Just curious, but can you expand on that? Is it just that you don't agree with the use of the word dive? Do you think he overreacted? Do you think that Schofield's actions warranted a suspension or a fine? We know that there absolutely was contact, but do you think it was a deliberate elbow to the jaw, or that it was more a glancing blow as he attempted to punch Oliver in the opposite shoulder to return the favour for what Oliver just did to Shuey(?) - this is my take on it.

There was contact. There is no doubt about that.

The issue is Oliver's conduct immediately after and then well after the game had finished by posting stupid crap about Damien Martyn and provocative pictures on his Twitter.

And idiot in his mid 40's trying to troll a 19 year old on Twitter deserves everything he gets

Troll? He merely ask if he was watching soccer. Every time Oliver goes near the ball now I must wonder.
He's just salty and doubling down because he is getting called out on it.

Clearly he shouldnt have exaggerated the contact, I'd like him to not do it - but it's not like he does it every game like other players.

And clearly he was hit.

Shaun Higgins says hi.

So he does it what ... once every 5 games?

Is there anybody here that isn't a melbourne fan that thinks he didn't dive?
How many have said outright that he didn't dive?

I've seen doubt raised, and acknowledgement given to how little contact to the jaw it takes to send someone to the ground when they are not expecting it (ignored by those lining up to sink the boot in but that's to be expected). I haven't seen many claim that he definitely didn't dive.

Personally I think he may well have gone down easy, but it's possible that he didn't. No amount of screaming blue murder changes that. Nor the fact that Schofield did make contact and has himself to blame for his one week holiday.

I'm not gonna hang the kid in either instance. He's still very early into his career and hopefully learns from this and is the better for it. Eagles fans can boo him forever. They're good at that. I have an inkling it will make him play better but let's wait and see.

I think the booing he'll cop from 8,000 people at the Gabba will scar him more to be honest.

Idiot throws an elbow, barely connects but gets a week and all the pressure is put on the young guy who went down.

What kind of a society are we raising our kids in where the victim of an outright assault on a football field is victimised for falling over.

The real victim here is Will Schofield for being a dirty thug. You can call divers 'cheats' all you want, in the cold light of day, the guy who throws an elbow is 1,000 times worse than somebody who throws themselves on the ground.

Oliver could fall on the ground 1,000 times and nobody will get hurt. Schofield throws that elbow 1,000 times and if the guy at the other end happened to lower his head, he could be very seriously injured. This week at Geelong was the Stop, Think match. What kind of message is all this sending, that throwing elbows is "tough", getting hit is "soft"?

I find all this talk of painting Oliver as the culprit as being one of the most backward, neanderthalic arguments I've ever heard. It's not the dark ages.

Schofield will forever be tarnished in my eyes.

By the way, if this were soccer, Schofield would have got a straight red, taken a 3 week break and if it happened again he'd be sacked by his club.

Might be a lot of diving in soccer, but they know how to deal with thugs.

You do realise Oliver threw an elbow first don't you Mother Teresa?

This incident was off the ball, bright spark. His hardness in the contest hasn't been called into question by anyone worth taking seriously. Oliver only knows one way and that is to put his head over the ball.
