Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

pies fans may be leading the charge, but do remember, only this week weve managed to ruin saints fans desire to have the pies reputation soiled thru that PED story, based on a rumour from a saints forum, and allowed to run here on BF. low & behold, the day we got the necessary verification that the pies had nothing to answer, the story breaks of the NZ trip. pay back was required for some.

Karma is a great thing and we're probably feeling it as well but there's a whole gutter industry out there just waiting for a footie player to ****up. We all know that it'll happen regularly and we just hope it's not our club.

Nice to know that Collingwood is immune .... err wait on

Re: Why the current Saints team will NOT win a premiership

Jaryd Allen was retained on St Kilda's list for the duration of his contract.

It's common practice.[/quote]

Its not common practice to list a retired player. Its unheard of. StKilda didnt even do that for Aaron Hamill. They bumped him a year early when it was clear he was wasted.

I dont recall it ever happening before, although I do recall reading some laughable comments at the time from Saints fans about it being a warm and fuzzy gesture to Allen to make him feel better about himself. He was going to get paid anyway, not sure what difference being listed would have made to him!

They were so tight on cap space that they were forced to retain Allen (as well as Leigh Fisher, but at least he still was capable of turning up to training).

If they were that tight on space its little wonder that they refused to accept Goldsack and Wellingham in a trade. They had already committed whatever they saved on Ball, on Lovett and Peake to a lesser extent, and simply had no cap room left for anybody above the base wage.

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

I agree the Saint's handled the drug/drinking issue in NZ well. Quick and firm.
Trouble is, and I've hinted at it in another thread, Roo and Lyon have not stood up and said "That's it! No more!".
Effectively using the "haters gonna hate/ everyone wants to bring us down" defence at the AGM was a mistake.
The "We've had enough of this behaviour from the players, I/we accept responsibility for it and it must stop or contracts will be terminated immediately" line would have been better.

What you're saying reminds me a bit of Ratten's speech after the Fevola/Brownlow shit-storm "If you don't want to do it the Carlton way, you don't have to - you won't be a part of Carlton".

That was exactly what us Carlton members wanted and needed to hear.

Yes, Aaron Hamill was bumped from the main list, Jarryd Allen wasn't even on it.

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

Its pretty obvious that directly following the Malthouse/Licuria v Milne incident someone decided to pullout all stops on the St Kilda football club.
Every piece of half arsed shite has been blown out of all proportion. A few players hit the piss, some other juvenile takes photos of his mate in the Nick(sorry for the pun), has an affair with a legal aged girl who falls pregnant, doesn't do the right thing by some standards, someone pulls some strings with the Vic police to imply impropriety in the Milne case. Doesn't need to be proven, just alluded to, that is enough. Then some idiot pulls out the Greening incident. I can tell you straight that no two Collingwood fans had the same story on the day. They all saw something different. Fact is the game was hard then and he hit his head on a shit ground. True, it should never happen but it did every weekend back then and it was going to happen sooner or later. No point making martyrs and scapegoats out of players when it was the VFL that allowed it to happen.
Fact uis that it doesn't matter what comes out of St Kilda there are those whose bias is an illness. They will only see and interpret what they want.
Thats it, my rant. roll on the AFL season.

The only thing more flawed then St. Nick's logic is his clubs culture.

They empowered themselves by creating 'Saints Footy' which has led to an overly insular culture which has now come back to bite them on the arse. Only by accepting responsibility for this culture will they grow and develop as a club, not by enhancing the us against the world attitude. I get a feeling that they are going to crash and burn.

And thats exactly what Carlton did, albeit a liitle late but none the less they did, THe saints keep on blaming everyone aprt from the morons who are doing this.

Its a lot like fev , it wasnt my fault, the wine was there whispering drink me drink me, the tablets were saying take me take me, the penis was saying photograph me photograph me.

I wont get into Sam Gilbert and his problems because he is human and if the legs are spread its a temptation that some people cant refuse.

Nick was sprung having just woken up and found zac trying to "protect" him, i mean lets face it as footballers you are taught to "protect" your teamates.

Wow! so now Collingwood are controlling what we hear and read.

May be time to get that persecution complex looked at before it becomes untreatable.

Fact is, shots are being fired at the Saints and it's not because Collingwood are exerting their influence over the media it's because the Saints players load the gun.

Can't believe I started on this thread supporting St Kilda and finish it backing Collingwood. Must be time for me to do something with my life cause I hate them both with a passion.

Despite the obvious loss to the on-field potency though it has definitely been better for the club having Fev "not" a Carlton player.

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

I think you've just proven my point, instead of deflecting the issue and blaming it on someone else, he takes responsibility for his actions and bans himself for 1 game.

If KJ was a saint, it would have been the fault of the Police Station wall using their logic.

Rabble of a club, from even the days of linton street when they used to water the ground to try and get an advantage.

Can anybody tell me if Barry Breen has been paid yet?

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

pretty sure we'll smash essendon in the nab cup :thumbsu:

50:50 right now.

But, this isn't about Essendon and what could happen. This is about your coach and your captain and leadership group not having the cohunas to face a problem head on and dealing with it.

6 week suspensions which still see players suspended available in Round 1 are the soft way to go. Why not suspend the players concerned for the first 6 weeks of the season, if you are going to head down that road. Sure, there will be pain at selection, but, sometimes the pain is worth it.

Why not send the message that the players concerned are gone come October? It would send the message to everyone that the club is serious in having those players causing the trouble being responsible for their actions.

You have to take TOUGH decisions to achieve success. Your club is not doing that and will not be a premiership side UNTIL IT DOES.

Your club is the laughing stock of the competition. Face it. Every single opposition supporter is delighting in the way your club has imploded and will deliver a tidal wave of abuse never seen before.

And in 2 weeks from now, Saints fans and the players are going to face every single abuse from the other side of the fence. It would not surprise me if fans from other clubs than Brisbane and Essendon will be there that night serving it up.

Your club and your players are fortunate that at the highest level, there is a fair amount of anonymity in the crowd. However, appearances at Sandringham games could be quite embarrassing.
