Re: Why the current Saints team will NOT win a premiership

Yes, Aaron Hamill was bumped from the main list, Jarryd Allen wasn't even on it.

Doesnt matter which list, the salary cap principles are the same. Theres no reason to have a retired player on your list unless you have run out of cap room to pay him out and replace him with somebody with two arms and two legs.

Blair wasnt on the main list either but his premiership medal looks just the same as his teammates medals. Some clubs use their rookie list to develop premiership champions, and some clubs use their rookie list as a dumping grounds for players they'd like to get rid of but are forced to keep for another year.

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

Its pretty obvious that directly following the Malthouse/Licuria v Milne incident someone decided to pullout all stops on the St Kilda football club.
Every piece of half arsed shite has been blown out of all proportion. A few players hit the piss, some other juvenile takes photos of his mate in the Nick(sorry for the pun), has an affair with a legal aged girl who falls pregnant, doesn't do the right thing by some standards, someone pulls some strings with the Vic police to imply impropriety in the Milne case. Doesn't need to be proven, just alluded to, that is enough. Then some idiot pulls out the Greening incident. I can tell you straight that no two Collingwood fans had the same story on the day. They all saw something different. Fact is the game was hard then and he hit his head on a shit ground. True, it should never happen but it did every weekend back then and it was going to happen sooner or later. No point making martyrs and scapegoats out of players when it was the VFL that allowed it to happen.
Fact uis that it doesn't matter what comes out of St Kilda there are those whose bias is an illness. They will only see and interpret what they want.
Thats it, my rant. roll on the AFL season.

What a paranoid, delusional load of hogs wallop.
Obviously some of you supporters have caught the Clubs fever.
Blame everyone else.
For what it's worth I still see nothing wrong with Malthouse responding to Milnes unsubstantiated a tirade against Licca with an unsubstantiated tirade against Milne. Milne inability to keep it on field is his problem.

Has he apologised yet?
Don' think so...it's everyone else's fault he got himself in both situations....yeah **** off.

The point is he took responsibility.

He does not get the concept.
It's always someone else to blame.

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

The one thing I cannot fathom is the 100% faith the President & Members have put in Ross Lyon. The St. Kilda FC is fast turning into a cult from Waco, Texas.

I have no issue with backing your own in but giving the ultimate power to so few always ends in tears. A rabble of a club.

If anything, the coach is the unfortunate victim here. He's tried everything and they are still being idiots. He is gutted - you can see it.

Thats not exactly true, the president did make a statement that he would bend the players ears back at the AGM on thursday.

Im not sure if it happened as roo and ross did most of the talking by the look of the reports.

You are misinterpeting the bubble, and what it is.

Ross never created it to protect the players from their own stupidity, it was created to take the focus off things beyond their control.

If you bothered to notice, he takes a vastly different approach depending on the circumstances.

In this latest incident, Ross has publicly admonished the players, released a statement detailing the crime and time, and then finished up speaking about a need for improvement in player behaviour at the AGM.

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

What part of accepting responsibility dont you understand?

Would you like it in english?

So he caused significant embarrassment to his club, and imposed a one game suspension on himself? Talk about flogging with a wet bootlace ...

And yet you prattle on about my club being soft and lenient on our transgressors, and we gave our fools 6 weeks penalty. Lack of consistency there sport.

Actually Johnson's penalty is tougher than what has bee handed down.

One - as club captain, instead of going the penalty by vote move as the Saints did, he took the bull by the horns and gave himself a week off during the season.

Missing 6 weeks of a pre-season isn't going to have any impact. The players are fit - most clubs spend the entire pre-season doing new tactics, so anything new should be embedded by now. It is soft.

6 weeks in the pre-season isn't going to affect these 4 too financially either, as you get more whilst playing than what would you do just training away.

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

There are parallels between St Kilda & Qantas - everytime something goes wrong the media latches on to it.

The only thing more flawed then St. Nick's logic is his clubs culture.

footy is a game people play, culture is something people put through the water in adelaide to make it drinkable.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/kane-stays-as-tigers-captain/story-e6frf7kx-1111115869499

Football director Greg Miller said the club was very disappointed with Johnson's action, but all in the club believed it was a one-off incident.
It was his birthday, he held off to the Saturday night, his family were with him, and he was outside his own house which just happens to be next door (to St Kilda Rd station)," Mr Miller said.

"He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"As a group they totally support him and it was a complete aberration.

"It's not something that you would expect Kane to be involved with."
"Kane has strong values and he felt that he'd let the whole group down and he sold those values to the whole team."
"I've let the club, our supporters and my team mates down," said Johnson.
"As captain I have preached a message I have failed to uphold.
"Fronting the playing group at our next training session will be the most difficult time I have faced in football."
Maybe Roo can take a leaf out of Jonhsons book on how to handle situations, better yet how about the St Kilda FC take a leaf out of his book.

I cant remember Eddie losing faith in Malthouse when Collingwood players were committing far more serious breaches.

How funny, St Kilda not believing in culture yet are one of the biggest failures of a footy club.

26 spoons was it?

1 Premiership

Culture.

Or maybe lack of culture.

Yeah thanks for that, what an uplifting post.

What do you suggest, I support another team?

Do you come on here often to make opposition supporters feel rubbish?

It's not really a Collingwood / St. Kilda thing but for the course of a history lesson, quite a deal different.

When our last serious transgression occured, McGuire, Malthouse, Scott Burns (who represented the playing group) & Gary Pert decided the punishment. We didn't create a self proclaimed "bubble", we didn't try to hide anything & our players were suspended from meaningful games (i.e. finals) as opposed to pre-season training.

Whats that?

How many games are they missing?

Oh and about being soft.........Westaway stated that if they didnt want to toe the line they were not a part of St kilda, Ross on the other hand states that they are required players,

Reading between the lines , slap on the wrist boys and continue as normal.

Not sure I agree. The penalty is 6 weeks completely away from the club. Dawson, Stanley and Steven in particluar would have played NAB cup, with a realistic chance of breaking into the senior side for R1. I doubt they have any chance of doing so now, and probably won't for several weeks of the season proper.

I'd have liked to add a smack on the scone with a 4x2 to their penalty myself. I still can't believe they were that stupid. It's mind-boggling.
