But we’re trying to achieve a few things based on comments made by posters from time to time

Firstly, we always try not to censor discussion as much as possible and to let people have their say

Given our season, there’s a high level of interest in the trade period, upcoming draft and the poor on field performance. That led to a high volume of posts in the contracts thread and complaints that it was hard to keep up with and finding genuine information amongst pages of banter was difficult

So we created a separate draft thread to focus discussion on draftees as much as possible so that it functioned primarily as a resource for posters to share information on this years draft cohort. Not everyone is a draft expert and we wanted to have a thread for those people to find information on draftees without having to wade through too much waffle. This is why that thread is a bit more tightly moderated

The other trade thread is more loosely moderated and moves quickly. We try not to mess with that too much but there’s still instances where it gets derailed and whilst the discussion might be fun for those involved it can be frustrating for others which is why this thread exists as an alternative to deleting posts

It’s not perfect and due to time constraints it won’t always be moderated as evenly as we’d like and sometimes I’ll send a Dark Sharks post here just for my own amusement

Always happy to take suggestions on how threads are moderated

Hey fellas - I come in peace.

Bit of chat about Narkle so I thought I’d add my 2c.

Disclaimer, I am a Narkle fan and tend to view players with a half glass full versus empty philosophy.

He is an inside mid but does have some genuine dash away from the contest and can kick a goal. I also think he would go okay switching between half forward and in the guts. He is tidy, definitely nothing special by foot but he doesn’t butcher the pill.

A lot of commentary I’ve seen about his deficiencies is accurate. His defensive running can leave a lot to be desired and sometimes he lacks a bit of intensity, so he can appear to look disinterested or ‘lazy’.

In saying that, he does have genuine x-factor and can do some exceptional things when he’s on.

He had a stretch of games through 2021 where he was quite good (was pretty much best on ground against Gold Coast) but was then squeezed out and never really recovered from there. He does have a tendency to burst in and out of games, I think he could do with a big pre season to really get into premium condition.

In his games this year he just looked flat, lacked spark and was playing like a man who knew he wouldn’t make it long term at the club.

Way too good for VFL, looks a significant cut above. I expect he will be a top 5 ish DFA this off-season, much better player than the Brown brothers or SPS at his best (imo).

His time had run its course at KP and several went by him, it just didn’t quite work out.

I genuinely believe a change of scenery would do him well. Moving back home and having a fresh environment, could do very well.

Why don't you keep your dregs and stop trying to palm them off to other clubs in no need of them. Narkle is almost 25 lazy below average in all stat indicators and according to you played like a beaten man this season. It wasn't good enough for your club so why should it be good enough for ours. From most observers we are about to undertake a long rebuild why not offer up some of your under 23's that aren't in the scrap heap that might be of use to us when our window falls ajar.

Settle down. He was trying to sell Narkle to us, a washed up piece of garbage reject that his club doesn't want. He wants to set our rebuild back a few years. And your worried about what some Geelong person thinks of you ?

Robertson too young for retirement home eagles. We need 27+ age bracket according to our great posters, never mind that we finished second last have one of the oldest lists in the afl and the worst under 23's in the comp. We need experience, well more experience you can never have too much you see. I think Priddis should come back too we need that age bracket, we love a golden oldie at the Eagles. I know why don't we trade for Lobb wouldn't he make us a better team, too old you say ? Codswallop we will just let him go easy on the training put on a bit of a gut, he will fit in real well. Our supporters here don't really care about flags anyway we just wanna see a 12th place finish that would be a huge success here in the forums to hell with the top 4 too much long term planning and it hurts my brain to think that far out at the best of times.

Sadly, even another bottom 4 finish next year will not likely be enough to rid us of Nisbett or Simpson.
