This team, but I would play Watts on the bench in front of Sam Gray. And put Motlop or rozee to half forward.

Got injured really early in the season. I'm hoping it's only a 10 or 11 month injury.

Don’t know if it’s just me but seeing a centre square with the names Ebert and Rockliff in it doesn’t inspire confidence for round 1 vs Oliver, Brayshaw and Viney.
I'd like to see Atley get a crack over Ebert... i also think Johnson is worth giving half a full season from the start- I like him as a defensive forward...

Depends which version of Rockliff shows up. The pre-mid 2017 Brisbane version (who we briefly got for about a month from and after the Showdown) is a quality AFL midfielder.

Best 22 and their understudies:

Note, I have Boak back in the mids, with Burton/Mayes taking his spot on the HFF. I also have Lycett as the number 1 ruck, with Ryder at FF and Dixon at CHF.

Defenders:
CHB: Howard - NA
FB: Clurey - Grundy
3RD Tall: Jonas - McKenzie
HBF: Hartlett - Broadbent
HBF: Houston - Trengove
HBF: Bonner - Lienert
Lockdown Small: Byrne-Jones - Garner/Frederick

Forwards:
CHF: Dixon - Frampton
FWD/Ruck: Ryder - Ladhams
3rd Tall: Marshall - Watts
FWD/MidM i Gray - Butters
HFF: Burton - Mayes
HFF: S Gray - Woodcock
Small Forward: Farrell - AJ/Cox

Mids:
Ruck: Lycett - Hayes
C: Wines - Atley/Hewett
C: Boak - Rozee/Drew
C: SPP - Rockliff
Fast Wing: Motlop - Amon/Patmore
Tall Wing: Westhoff - NA
Gut Running Wing: Ebert - Duursma/Pudney

Not going to form an opinion until after the new year. This playing group is so bipolar I have no idea. A midfield of Ebert, wines, rockcliff, Boak and SPP is going to get murdered for speed. I’m happy with the backline and I think with Dixon, Marshall, Lycett/Ryder and Gray we’ve also got the forward line sorted. Watts needs to play on the wing, he’s to good a player to be running around in the SANFL but doesn’t get enough of the ball playing up forward. Make him accountable on the wing or get rid of him. I’m glad I’m not doing the selection though for round 1.

Rocky will be fine.... Ebert could definitely be playing some SANFL this season.

Ebert is way ahead of Rockliff.

I tried to redo a 22 after the draft and it's bloody hard.

For me there is:

1 bench spot for a midfielder that'll be between Atley, Rockliff, Amon, Trengove, Drew and maybe Duursma

1 bench spot for a small fwd/high fwd/wing that'll be between Butters, Watts, AJ, Farrell, Patmore, Woodcock.

2 spots, 1 bench, 1 field, for a back flanker/winger which I think is between HH, Broadbent, Duursma, Mayes, Bonner and Burton.

I think I would choose Atley over Rockliff as mid because Rockliff is just too slow and isn't the future. I'd probably get games into Butters over the other fwds, and I think HH and Burton are probably our first 2 picked for the backline from that group.

The first 20, is pretty much locked in for mine....

FF: R Gray, Marshall, S Gray
HF: Rozee, Dixon, Boak
C: Motlop, Ebert, Westhoff
HB: HH, Howard, Houston
FB: DBJ, Clurey, Jonas
R: Ryder, Wines, SPP

INT: Lycett, Burton, ?????, ?????

I'm going Atley and Butters.

While HH is not fit I would play Bonner.

FF R Gray. Dixon. Rozee
HF. Watts. Marshall. Boak
C. Motlop. Wines. Bonner
HB. Burton. Howard. Houston
FB. DBJ. Clurey. Jonas
RK. Ryder. Rockliff. SPP
Bench: Westhoff, Atley, Ebert, Garner (bolter)

Assuming Hamish is still injured.

I’ll be watching Marshall’s preseason closely.

DBJ and Burton to push into midfield rotations.

Houston to win every award.

Boak and Robbie to have more midfield time

Ebert is way ahead of Rockliff.

Lol rocky went past Ebert at the speed of light last year after a preseason injury and coming back from an injury the year before.

The gap between them last year was big. This year it will likely be light years.

FF - R Gray Dixon Farrell
HF - Marshall Ryder Motlop
C - Westhoff Wines Burton
HB - Houston Howard Hartlett
FB - Jonas Clurey Byrne-Jones

R - Lycett SPP Rockliff

I - Boak Lienert Mayes Rozee

Em - Bonner Watts Ebert Atley

If Hartlett's not fit swap in Bonner
If Rockliff does nothing in the preseason games Atley to replace him in the 22
