Looks like Frampton will play forward if he plays. He popped up in that area of the ground during match sim.
Cox/Cameron served as the rucks (so played against one another)
And so the forward structure was Frampton. Mihocek. Jamie. Hill. Beau. Ginni. Nick who played half forward.

Lippa played on the wing.

because Howe/Moore didn't participate, Crisp played off half back, along with Murphy, Markov, WHE, IQ, Maynard
That’s really interesting thanks!

Makes no sense in that case to carry a ruck man on the bench does it?! Especially at the end of a fatiguing season, and in a final when pressure and running is critical.

I’d argue each line in the 2023 GF is better than their 2018 GF counterparts

The 2018 GF side had Thomas, Phillips, Sier, Langdon (MASSIVELY overrated on this board), an inferior and less mature version of Maynard, Chris Mayne and an at the end of the road Varcoe

2023 is an objectively far stronger and more talented team

Mate Langdon got norm smith votes, he had a massive game

I’m not gonna sit here and say it’s perfect, because it’s far from that. But gonna be a long week in here for some of us based on this thread!

Let’s not forget 4 games ago we ran this mob to 4 goals at a stadium in Melbourne they play more than us and we don’t play well at all, and they do. Without Moore, De Goey, N. Daicos, Bobby Hill, Murphy got subbed out in the third quarter. If my memory serves me correctly Hoskin missed a relatively straight forward shot at the beginning of the last to give us the lead.

Would I rather McStay and Adams, sure, but this one is far from over!

You lost me at 'Sier' then again at 'Langdon' - 'massively overrated'. Otherwise I agree this team is better.

We have basically only Frampton as our not quite up to a standard we'd expect player, but no one else really. Though McCreery doesn't get enough disposals or goals at this stage of his career.

We'll know more about all our players by Saturday night.
langton was an excellent player before he got injured..beautiful mark..

Cool, so the Norm Smith voters had no idea too?

Because not only did Langdon kickstart West Coast’s day when he inexplicably didn’t rush a behind leading to their first goal breaking our momentum, he was even part of the chain that led to Sheed’s goal

He was also directly responsible for Richmond’s first goal the week before

Dude was a genuinely mediocre (that’s me being incredibly kind) footballer and I will never understand the love for him on this board.

But then a lot of this board defended Tom Phillips too. So maybe I shouldn’t be too surprised?

Looking like it will be one of the below options, with option 1 looking much more likely now. Although as you have mentioned, with Howe missing the match sim, there is a chance Noble could still be in the frame.

1. IN: Frampton, OUT: McStay (same structure from prelim)
2. IN: Noble, OUT: McStay (Howe shifts to play forward)

I think I am in the Frampton camp now, if its him VS Noble. I think Cox playing ruck is essential to us winning and would be shocked if our solution is playing him as a permanent forward this weekend.

Completely different teams (literally), completely different games, different eras etc but I remember everyone thinking and saying just give the Lions the flag in 2004 for their Threpeat and they got rolled. Albeit Port had three strong years in a row but it got done. On any given day we’re a chance.

Anything to erase the memory of that wank Akermanis holding up 3 fingers in 2003. I wanted to break them off and slowly insert them in his nostrels until you can't see the fingernails

I overstated how much time Frampton played forward in that Gold Coast game. It was about 10 mins in the first quarter and 15 in the third.

In the third quarter he had 2 inside 50 targets; one he halved, the other he got a free kick for having his arm held by Ballard and goaled. His direct opponents didn’t get any intercept possessions, being Ballard at times but mostly Mac Andrew. They certainly weren’t zoning off him and intercepting, but it’s such a small sample size.

His other goal was while running through the centre playing as a ruckman.

Speaking of that running goal, I hope Frampton goes full Tom Boyd.
Only blind optimism to think he can but his season stats are similar to Boyd 2016 (Boyd had 10 goals pre-GF, Frampton has 7).

Im expecting Frampton to come in for McStay, with the plan to sub a tall (probably frampton) off at the point that we want to do a final burst.
We will then rejig the magnets for this last burst. One of the rucks or WHE will move forward. Daicos will probably move his position. And we will try to get more run.
So there is a chance Noble plays as sub.

So Pies to wear black shorts.

Anyone out there have a thought about how we perform in black versus white shorts?

I’m looking for omens, premonitions, even visions will do; together with any bizarre and unscientific theories about the colour of our shorts.

We need everything to go our way.🤞

All I know is we look better as a kit in black shorts, more Collingwood

Won in 2010 in black shorts.
Lost in 2011 in black shorts
Lost in 2018 in white shorts.

Here you go.

1990 Collingwood Black - Essedon White
2002 Collingwood Black - Bears Dark
2003 Collingwood Black - Bears Dark
2010 Collingwood Black - Aints White
2018 Collingwood White - Weagles Dark

So, every time our opponent wears white shorts in last 33 (since we buried the Colliwobbles) years we win.

Aesthetically I prefer black shorts. The darker colour makes us look stronger.

Also looks better on the taller players, gives them a more definite ‘middle’ (I’m making this up).

The internet has also given me this:

‘In color psychology, black's color meaning is symbolic of mystery, power, elegance, and sophistication.’

And this:

‘Power, elegance, sophistication, status, formality.Evil, death, grief, mourning, the occult. Mystery, bleakness, heaviness, depression, rebellion, fear. A color of many sentiments.’

Hmm, not sure this is helping.☹️

Last spot is between noble or frampton they both aren’t playing. Frampton will play imo

Is Tay allowed to be given a game day role on the bench or will he have sit with the rest of the players that have missed out? Would be good to have him on the bench motivating and pumping the boys up getting to look them in the eyes!
