Guys - Interested in your opinion on the effect of AKA's handstand on the team in the last 3 weeks, especially his own form since the Melb game.

Went to the Melbourne game with a couple of friends and they couldn't believe how few of the other guys went to him after he slotted his goals.

I really dont believe the handstand was an issue, but his comments on SEN saying he wanted to knock out a few of his team mates really irked me and I have a horrible thought that it may have slightly fractured the team.

What do you guys think?

AKA's stats since PA game

V MELB - 14 K 3 HB 5 MK 3 GLS
V GEEL - 10 K 1 HB 4 MK 0 GLS
V CARL - 6 K 2 HB 3 MK 0 GLS

If the playing group allowed that Handstand to derail the year then they are more selfish than Aka himself for doing it!

Storm in a tea cup.

If that has derailed the club's season, the leadership group need rooting!

He's clearly playing injured.
Obviously a fit Aker will be more damaging than one who can't move sideways.

I don't think it would have had a .0001% effect on the playing group and their performances.

They are all professional footballers getting paid more then adequately. They shouldn't let any distractions affect what they have to do each week, especially something as minor as that.

If we have all these guys supposedly playing injured would it not be better to get them all rested and ready to have a crack in September?

I do believe Mr Eade said that Aker is not injured but Aker didnt seem right out there maybe a little furphy from our coach saying he is not injured.

From 2 weeks ago. Do you think Thompson was referring to Acker's antics in this context?

No celebrating here: Thompson

GEELONG coach Mark Thompson has insisted his players isn't 'doing handstands' after its commanding 61-point victory over the second-placed Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.

With the sides level at 47 points at half time, the premiers obliterated the visitors after the main break – kicking 13 goals to three.

"There’s no-one out the back doing handstands, I can tell you," Thompson said.

IMO The handstand on its own is not a big issue. But with the rest of the package its a disaster. Aker was building himself up in the media to such an extent everyone else was not seen. Every newspaper article, interview radio/tv talked about Aker. He imposed himself on the team to a large extent and took over in the 3 to 5 weeks leading up to the Darwin. He took over on and off the ground.

I belive that his media profile and to some extent selfish play in the last 10 weeks, combined with sponsor & building problems have all added up.

The team has lost its MOJO.
