where were you starting from. This club's been going so long now I'm usually starting from such a low base my feelings usually improve regardless of the result

Just think that we won't beat the reigning premiers twice in one season, doesn't feel realistic

Yet they were still beating us by four goals or whatever it was until half time from which we tagged Oliver. We were still competitive with them when Ma was on the field. Petracca was the only point of difference by that stage.

My view is that

1) they were beating us in the second because they were winning the ball at the centre bounce and stoppages. Hence the Oliver tag, which was effective because Petracca wasn't up to filling the gap.

2) we broke even in the first while May was in but the Melbourne mids not yet dominating the clearances; May out in the second half allowed us to capitalise on our newfound contest around the ball. When I say "May out", I'm not talking personnel, but rather what it did to Melb's structures.

Then kick 6 goals to 1 in the 3rd to lead by 3 goals at 3 quarter time ..

Then kicks 4 goals to 3 to win by 4 goals

The next “huge” game on the horizon would be Dees @ the ‘G.
I remember thinking when we were absolutely shite v suns and pies were we leaving something in the tank for the Dees game and low and behold bang what an effort what a performance. Wonder if there’s something in this for tonight’s game?
It’s 2nd or 7th after tonight, massive fork in the road of season 2022.
I think we’ll go BANG! ️

I dearly hope you're right. But won't be too fussed if not as 7th was about where I thought we'd be this year and I know that whatever we do this year, we improve on it next year guaranteed. This year is the springboard!
