If that's the best Ingo can do as a captain, I'm worried.

Even a grade captain would've bowled Morris before Stoinis and Abbott.
Unforgivable.
You would think the coach Ronald MacDonald would have had stoinis opening the bowling .

The only person that would open with a medium pacer is another medium pacer

It was either Ingo or Maxxy.
I thought Maxwell was a bit stiff not to get it TBH.
Maxy isn't captain material. Way too undisciplined and self absorbed.

Rocks up to a series after doing nothing but drink beers in his time off and starts behind everyone else

Mcsweeney deserves the call up but a 25 with an average of 38 isn’t really a glowing endorsement of the youth coming though.

Green really hasn’t grasped his chance. Hardie has regressed and the youth coming through are really young and far off the test arena.

This Aussie side will really bottom out in the next few years

Khawaja - 37
Lyon - 36
Smith - 35
Starc - 34
Hazlewood, Marsh, Carey - 33

Fair chance that we may have 7 players retiring within the next 12-24 months (I reckon players like Marsh and Carey may retire early to cash in on T20 league opportunities, and the pace bowlers would be less likely to be playing beyond 35 than others).

Will McSweeney be the only player in his 20s for the first Test?

Can see Bison but carey bar bbl doesn’t seem like a big t20 player. I see Head more likely to do so more than Carey.

Jaiswal - 22
R.Sharma - 37
Gill - 25
Kohli - 35
S.Khan - 27
Pant - 27
Jadeja - 35
Ashwin - 38
Siraj - 30
Deep -27
Bumrah - 30

KL Rahul (32) probably plays for R.Sharma first up

Average age of 29.8 for India

For us it is 32.5
Reckon Prasidh Krishna (28) bowls instead of Siraj too

Incredible how we've gone from blokes averaging 50 in the Shield for years before they even get considered to not picking specialist openers anymore because they're all averaging less than 30.

It's like Punter said on TGC that time: "Back in my day, if you were averaging 35 your dad would buy you a footy or basketball and tell you to go play that instead".

Harris and Bancroft have both absolutely pissed away a nailed on test spot over the last 5 years.

It was never going to happen simply because neither are good enough.

Massive technical flaws that get exposed time after time at the highest level.

We can only hope the development of Konstas and other young kids uses them as a blueprint of what not to do.

Blame t20 cricket tbh.

That said it’s funny how both the Bison and Inglis seem to both adapt well to shield cricket soon as they return after plYing white ball cricket

The sad thing is they're both nothing special in T20 either.

Bangers had a few decent BBL's and has a respectable average but never really took that next step to become a household name.

Harris is just okay in all formats without being particularly good at any of them.

Feel like they come out with this article every couple of years

India are set for a tough initiation in Australian conditions on an Optus Stadium pitch expected to resemble the famous fiery characteristics of the nearby WACA ground
