Not only - MV fans were animals, but there was no riot until the keeper threw the lit flare back into the fans. Fact. Watch the replay. The fans will get their punishment as they are easily identifiable but the keepers action provoked the riot. Similar thing happened at the other end and the MV keeper simply placed the burning flares behind the goals - he didn't toss them into the crowd.
Delusional MV fan.

Yep - don't disagree, except the Glover bit. He ignited the riot. Acknowledged on news services now. I don't go to games because I hate the crowd too. Not trying to pretend that the MV supporters were victims. They are feral and every one on the pitch identifiable should be banned for life. But the facts are facts. No riot until keeper threw a burning flare into the crowd.

The keeper started the riot but I agree - the assaults were disgraceful. But what sort of a moron picks up a burning flare (laying harmless on the ground) and tosses it into the fans?
Ohhh did he have the flare in his socks? He tossed it back into the crowd where it came from. Blaming the GK is a cop out. Every one of us on here would have thrown it back in. Have a spell mate. It was caused by the ****wits throwing flares.

Yep - if he didn't throw it back into the crowd - no riot.
FMD. If they didn’t throw it on the pitch he wouldn’t need to throw it back to the crowd. Chicken and egg.

I don’t recall anyone at fed square being hit by a metal bucket when flares were let off during the Australian games.

The fans were itching for a fight and it would have come after a goal, after a card or at the end of the match.

Some of them, mate. Maybe a large number, but certainly not all. I'm a City fan fwiw, but that crap last night was absolutely everything that people are saying. Sad for football, and even more sadly the exact same reason that we didn't go last night. I've been heckled and shoved at Chelsea, physically intimidated by Arsenal fans after a Wednesday home win, abused at Millwall, Charlton and Kings Cross Station etc etc, but I am quite happy to keep my best little mate away from Victory games.
Yep, got mates not willing to go to a victory games here in SA, and it’s our home ground!!

Rubbish - I hate flares. Someone will be killed by one some day. No intelligent person would throw one back into the crowd. Never seen it happen as it is too dangerous. FFS - it's a fact - his action started the riot ffs. Media all over it too. But - BUT - the response by MV fans was disgraceful. Hope they are all banned for life. Feral morons. Not trying to justify their actions at all - they can all fugg off. Just making sure it is clear how it started. The MC fans threw flares at the other end and the MV keeper moved them off the pitch and safely behind the goal. No danger - no provocation. He didn't toss them into the crowd.

It started when some thug brought it into the ground and threw it at the opposition goalkeeper. Seriously mate, take a spell.

Watch the replay. Same thing happened to MV keeper and he responded responsibly. I'm out of here. Made my point. Final comment - hope the MV fans responsible cop the full force of the law and the club bans every identifiable one for life.

So it's not that idiots bring flares into the game and choose to throw them onto the pitch that instigates crowd violence, it's how the players deal with it that's the issue? Right.

"I wouldn't have hit him back if he didn't hit me after I hit him first!"

I’m a 10 year Heart/City member. The club is excellently run, and they do an incredible job of looking after the member base - albeit its small. In my time as a member my family and I have been invited on to the pitch for the warm up, sat on the second row of the bench for a game, and this year we received 6 free memberships for the family.

We go most weeks and have never felt unsafe. I cannot recall a City fan thrown flare.

But last night was very different. The build up to the game due to the APL GF decision was filled with anger and social media threads about how the fans could make the league take notice. The atmosphere in the first 20 minutes was a boiling point and it felt very much like the whole incident was premeditated. We were sitting up behind the City active zone. When the victory end stormed the pitch, many of the city end pulled on balaclavas and debated whether to also invade the pitch. Thankfully they didn’t

saw photos that showed a few of the pitch invaders wearing Arsenal shirts which clearly explained their actions.

there are maybe a few exceptions, but for the most part seriously low levels of emotional intelligence and IQ are a pre-requisite for choosing to support either Arsenal or Victory

both clubs are the Essendon equivalent in their respective leagues

I mean, do North Melbourne organise the security at home games at Marvel Stadium? I doubt it, but I honestly don't know.
Side track - NMFC certainly do not. Wrote an email to the club this year after the complete indifference and laziness of security when a couple of drunk opposition peanuts came into the North area picking fights which spilled over to about a metre away from where the kids in our group were sitting. Got a reply from Sonia (what an amazing president) who said one of the key frustrations of the Marvel deal is North get no say over security arrangements.

As someone that doesn’t care about victory, city or the a league in general, what the keeper did was wrong. In no way does that absolve the mob of animals invading the pitch, but throwing a flare back into a crowd almost guarantees you hit an innocent person.

He should have just walked off

Go have a lie down
I have, thanks. Funny thing is I don't give a 5hit really. Not a huge soccer fan and I laugh when they constantly 5hit in their own bed. But at least let's apportion blame appropriately. MV will pay a huge price for this and rightfully so. But I hope others involved cop their whack too.

Just curious for those of you who know more about legal stuff than me. What gives them, or any other sporting venue, the legal right to say you can't come in? Cancel membership I understand but prevent entry?
