Thanks. I just wonder would it stand up legally? It must I suppose as nobody seems to have challenged it legally. Although these terms refer to refusal of entry or eviction rather than future refusal (suspension).

Time flares are given the boot - this isn’t Europe /sth America and doesn’t work here
It’s on all supporters to start dobbing these ppl in
They jump up n down on chairs, they throw flares. They are ****ing clowns. Been to one A league game many years ago and to be honest, I preferred going to Knights games 20 years ago. Yehhh, a lot of culture clashing but these days its flat out anti social destructive behaviour for no reason.

I think someone who runs on to a ground and attacks a player (and cameraman) should never be allowed to attend a sporting event again, but maybe that's just me.

I’m a 10 year Heart/City member. The club is excellently run, and they do an incredible job of looking after the member base - albeit its small. In my time as a member my family and I have been invited on to the pitch for the warm up, sat on the second row of the bench for a game, and this year we received 6 free memberships for the family.

We go most weeks and have never felt unsafe. I cannot recall a City fan thrown flare.

But last night was very different. The build up to the game due to the APL GF decision was filled with anger and social media threads about how the fans could make the league take notice. The atmosphere in the first 20 minutes was a boiling point and it felt very much like the whole incident was premeditated. We were sitting up behind the City active zone. When the victory end stormed the pitch, many of the city end pulled on balaclavas and debated whether to also invade the pitch. Thankfully they didn’t
Been going to Glory NSL/A-League games as a kid, back in the old days, even watching some of the more spirited games was bad enough…
…mostly though, still watch what I can… still beats most AFL games for safety
But that’s my experience….
Again, golden opportunity for Football Australia to grow the game, show that a positive run in a World Cup can be the positive story to run… then putting the GF in Sydney and some dumbasses not just leaving the game… we’ll… seriously… this is why it won’t grow…

Pretty simple. A stadium is a private premises and, like yourself with your home, the owner has the right to set terms of entry. Because the public attends doesn't make it a public space where you have a right to attend. The stadium otherwise needs to ensure that their conditions of entry comply with the law - ie no discrimination etc.

They've got to fix the flares up because they're a Monty to get sued if someone gets injured.

Not questioning that at all - just the legality of future refusal.

Fair enough. Flares have been an accepted part of soccer for years and rarely frowned upon by the authorities.

Yep - don't disagree, except the Glover bit. He ignited the riot. Acknowledged on news services now. I don't go to games because I hate the crowd too. Not trying to pretend that the MV supporters were victims. They are feral and every one on the pitch identifiable should be banned for life. But the facts are facts. No riot until keeper threw a burning flare into the crowd.

What does your mate Caroline Carnegie have to say about the MV goalkeeper being responsible for the pitch invasion? "I don't want to comment on Tom's actions because really it doesn't matter what he did, there is nothing that excuses what came after that."

She described it as a 'bit silly'. What do you expect them to say? MC keeper by the way. MV keeper acted responsibly and simply placed the flares off the ground. He didn't toss them back into the crowd. Acknowledged now that his actions are part of the investigation. I hope the people at Victory have deep pockets coz this will cost them massively.

I’m wary of being an outsider in this discussion, but a couple of things came to mind.

1. I don’t understand the comments that two weeks ago everything was so great and last night it was inexplicably bad. The crowds in Fed square had flares and testosterone - they just did not have anyone to oppose or intimidate so it was celebrated as harmless colour and fun. Flares in a crowd are dumb and dangerous, full stop, and in the hands of men who this time were out to scare an opposing team and/or the powers that be, they caused the trouble anyone could predict.

2. I was at a cafe in Richmond a few years ago when a crowd of Victory supporters came along Swan St chanting and feeling very pleased with themselves. I assume all clubs have something similar. I found the appearance of a large, loud group of men intimidating and unwelcome. All sports have dickhead supporters, but association football does seem to have a special place for organised behaviour that wouldn’t be welcome anywhere else. I honestly don’t know how you can celebrate it and also stop it wrecking things for other people.

and most important, 3. All leagues should stop fooling about with men and women playing double headers. Women‘s sports have different crowds and it’s safe for everyone.

I was at a Australia vs NZ basketball game years ago and there was a dozen Victory supporters up the back chanting non stop about soccer. Security moved them on after half time when the chants grew to "**** Sydney" or something equally witty. That mob were pathetic. After the match they were hanging around Richmond station chanting the same crap at families getting the train home. I took a work mate from China to that match, he was incredibly confused about wtf those clowns were on about.

Having a look at them they were mostly dudes in their 30s and 40s with a couple of impressionable younger teenage kids on the fringes. Watching the footage of yesterday it seemed a similar demographic.

How do you stop it wrecking things for other people? Hard to know because shit campaigners will always be shit campaigners. The kids on the fringes getting sucked in by losers with victim complexes is a worry.

I've been to 20 World Cup games here in Doha, having brunch now then off to the final .And I have not seen even one anti social incident anywhere in over 3 weeks. No dickheads, ferals, drunks or junkies anywhere. The streets are 100% safe and friendly. People from all over the world mixing together and having a great time. It very unusual for me. Meanwhile back in Melbourne.......

Difference is that if you did what the Melbourne dickheads did in Doha the response would have been much stronger.

absolutely 100% this.

the flares at fed square were super toxic and an example of anti-social behaviour, but was lapped up by a heap of soccer journos and celebrated as a part of soccer 'culture' and atmosphere and whatever else

and yet here they are in the last few days saying that this is not a soccer problem, but a problem from a few people. they're two sides of the same coin.

Even the UK media was celebrating.

I’ve been going to Victory games for 18 years and have been an A Reserve seat member for the past 17, along with five other family members.

The generic term “Victory supporters” just doesn’t fit when it comes to the small group fronting the most active support behind the North End. Outside them and their teen and 20’s aged disciples who do as the Capo and his crew tell them it’s no different to a North crowd, bar the good active support which makes the place pump. Family friendly and safe as houses.

These dickheads bring a huge dark cloud over the club and game with their bulltish and what they did last night is indefensible. Having seen the very clear pics the Police posted on the news tonight they’ll be caught and dealt with.

F’ing madness and it is beyond embarrassing for the many innocent passionate members.

I hope they’re burnt at the stake! 🔥
