Does this mean Messi will automatically win the Ballon D'Or or does it get forgotten about because Benzema only recently won the 2022 trophy? Obviously Messi wins Ligue 1 - that goes without saying. The real test will be the CL. Also, if Messi joins a MLS or Argentinian club after this season will that effect his Ballon D'Or chances? In normal circumstances a dominant performance at a WC would have secured him the trophy.

He's far from done at the top level. He wont be playing in Argentina or America anytime soon. I think he sees his contract out at PSG and then returns to Barcelona. He will absolutely finish his career at Barcelona. How many more seasons he plays at the top level, I dont know, maybe three.

Doubt he goes back to Barca at 36 going on 37. Why would he? Won everything there is to win there. Just like Ronnie he wont be able to beat age either. Returning to Argentina may be attractive as they just won the world cup.

He'd go back because it's his club. Ever since he left he's always wanted to just go back and I'm sure he will. Nobody can beat age but he will age far better than Ronnie as he doesnt rely on physical attributes like Ronaldo. Messi can just drop deeper and run games from midfield.

It may be his club and that is probably the most likely thing to keep him away. He will want to be remembered for his performances at his peak at Barca. Not when he came back for a season at 36. Also I believe PSG has an option to extend for another season. I just dont see any player heading back to La Liga at 36 going on 37 when theyve already won everything there is to win at his club.
