PIEMAN RESULTS Rd 8 v GWS

A win on the road. Nine different goalkickers. 13 goals. Arty strutting his stuff. We got to miss the coronation. What's there not to like? Maybe the prospect of losing Treloar for a week or three, but otherwise a very satisfactory night.

WB 13.8 86 def GWS 10.11 71
WB Goalkickers: Naughton (3), Lobb (2), A.Jones (2), Ugle-Hagan, Liberatore, Scott, Bontempelli, Weightman, Johannisen,

Rollovers and Substitutes

There were 11 rollover teams. Only one Pieman substitute required and that was Doggies_13 who got Naughton (21 points) for McNeil. The rule is that you can't select a matchday sub in your team.

Here were the most popular picks. Arty was this week's people's choice but with the addition of the rollover teams Aaron Naughton overtook him. Only three players went unloved.

The KELVIN
Surprisingly perhaps there were no Chumps. Eight different teams had four different goalkickers but none had five. This played out well for the arty-farty types who loaded up big on Arthur Jones. Yes, Charlie Bucket and lachy (144) tied for first this week with their 3x Arties. Third place went to Foxman98 (127) who had all 5 in his team picking up points. No Chump though because two of them were Naughton.

Some other features of this week's Pieman:
  • Eight teams cracked the ton. Nobody got a bagel.
  • RandomDog finished last and is also last on the leaderboard ... it took 8 rounds but normal service has now been restored.
  • Dannnnnnnnnn bounced back with a top ten finish on the back of his (modified) random five. The charge has begun.
  • Average score this week was 76.83, Median score was 73.

The PIEMAN
It's going to be a tough week folks.
It is my melancholy duty to inform you that Charlie Bucket is the new leader after 8 rounds. In fourth place last week, he has slipped four points ahead of Bulldog rick with Boyd oh Boyd another 7 points back. They are the only ones over 600 points. theAthenian is the week's other big mover rising from 12th last week to 5th.

Pieman Player of the Week

It's none other than the effervescent Artie Jones.

Best possible score was 218 (including a 62 pt bonus) which was a Chump featuring A.Jones, JJ, Scott, Lobb and Libba.
Best possible non-Chump score was 206 with 3x A.Jones and 2x Johannisen

Pieman Player of the Year

Williams still on top but Naughton is closing the gap.

No one’s ever won a “pitman”!you spud
In the early days of the Pieman we used to give out second hand books as prizes. Some of them were quite the collector's piece.

In lachy's year he won a Pitman. (That's shorthand for "Pitman's Shorthand Instructor")

PIEMAN Round 9 v Carlton

With the surprise selection of JOD this week, framing the handicaps is a bit tricky. Hard to know what role everyone is going to play.
Anyway we all start the round with the same level of knowledge ... even if it's not much.
