Did a PB in my 1 km swimming because I was so pissed off at a three point loss.

Similarly I did a PB in the time it took to down a bottle of red

Something tells me that shouldn't be a positive... hope you pull up well tomorrow.
Me thinks the cuz only drinks 250ml bottles of red pinched from flight lounges at airports - so not such a health risk as first thought! :thumbsu:

Something I'd like to point out. I really like Ryan lester as a 3rd tall forward with occasions runs through the middle. The last few weeks his performances have been terrific considering up until today he was everyone's chopping block weekly. It seems a few of the under performers are starting to become the performers and I've noticed that these players that improve get put back to there original position. Now too get Mayes on the half forward flank to see if there is any hope.

I just hope next weekend we dont get pumped. We can win next week but it could easily end up be a 10-12 goal loss if we don't have the intensity we had today.

Yeah Lester brings the ball to ground too which I like. I'm also impressed by Bewick, starting to make smart decisions which I've always been critical of. But of the young brigade geez Andrews just gets better and better, that delivery into the 50 in 3rd quarter I think it was, really defies his age.

Not to mention his height. That was a superb inside 50 to hit christo.

We still have scored a goal in every quarter this year.
We won three quarters this week.
Oh and it was so good seeing the number 1 running around on the field. Not to mention it being warn by someone who has loved the club all his life.

#1 has been a bit of a bogey number for us over the years.

Headland had it and we all know what happened there.

Then there was McGuane, who looked like he wanted to contribute but in the end had to give up because of his dodgy knee(s)

i have to go back to Richard Champion before I can think of anyone who really did the number proud.

Have I forgotten someone???

PS.

Oh yeah, I really liked the look of young Keays, particularly the way he went back and calmly slotted that goal, at a time where he probably could have been forgiven if nerves got the better of him.

I try and stay clear of airports :thumbsu:

Just having a look at some individual numbers now that we've got a decent sample size - Zorko's having a huge year statistically. He's up 50% on metres gained (538 per game), up in disposals (25), up in score involvements (7.8), up in tackles (6.6) and up in inside 50s (6.2) - which is double last year's average. Unsurprisingly Robbo is +6 on his career contested ball average (14.8).

Other interesting ones - Rich is averaging career-best 395m gained and 7 tackles (+3 on career ave).
Basti averaging a career best in contested possessions (10) and tackles (4.7)

More games into beams and rockliff will help those metres gained stats aswell. So only see it improving from here.

As a player there should be NO honourable defeats but as a fan???

For the Brisbane Lions - statistically since 1997....
  • Smallest ever losing margin against SYD at the Gabba [1 draw and two wins, by 3 and 2 points]
  • Highest ever losing score against SYD at the Gabba. [97pts highest ever losing score was at SCG in 1998 - lost by 38pts]
*edit - oh and our lowest score at the Gabba is still 11.17:83 since round 19 last year!

Mitch 'Freo' Clark

Yeah, nah.

Had one really good breakout season in the ruck when Luey went down (2011??) but then subsequently degenerated into nothing much more than a mug lair playing up forward for us the next year.

Spent most of the season trying to take mark of the year, abjectly failing in his endeavors, whilst wearing that stupidly smug looking smile on his face.

Freo!...no Wait!!!!........Melbourne!!!..............oops sorry..........that didn't work so ......Geelong!!!!!

I acknowledge that he had to deal with a depressive mental illness over that time and I don't want to make light of that.

It's just that i won't remember his time in the Lions #1 jumper with any warmth or fondness.

I think we sometimes don't appreciate how extraordinary Harris Andrews already is and could be.

He's playing a different role as the second tall than last year and I don't recall him being beaten in many (if any) contests, and he is only just 19 (December birthday) with only two preseasons in him. Despite that he is also managing to zone off and give a chop out and punch the ball away from other contests. With him being an Academy kid that's CHB locked down now for another decade. Worth noting that while he sometimes butchers the ball, more often than not he uses it well and delivers it inside 50 extremely well.

I can't wait to see him playing at his full potential.

youre forgetting the worst bloke to wear it....sam docherty

The Gabba is becoming a tough place to come for opposition teams again.

We have won 3 of the last 5 here and the 2 losses are against North and of course Sydney, who are top tier.

Last 5 Home Games

2015
W vs Carlton (64 points)
W vs WB (8 points)

2016
L vs North (34 points)
W vs GC (13 points)
L vs Swans (3 points)

I think if we keep improving at this rate we should be pushing for Finals next season.

Who would have thought we would be up and about after a 1-5 start?
