Remarkable thing about Jones is that he was OK ish, despite never having played an instrument before signing up with the band.

The Who were bad ass years before the punk movement, but they managed to be talented as well.

When I was a kid this was a hit, shows the musianship of Townshend and the rest of the Who

The Clash were too good IMO. I like my punk raw. It's meant to be pretty DIY and garage sounding. Too good and it loses something.

Clash were backbeat and reggae inspired, yeah I know so was the rest of punk, but Strummer and Jones were world beaters. Topper Hendren was an incredibly underrated drummer.
Sandanista and Combat Rock, still makes me come in my pants a bit. God I loved that raw energy and good music in my 20's.

Don't tell me White Riot doesn't stand with the all time greats of punk.

I saw them live in the 90s and they were a great live show. I liked Stooges and MC5, Radio Birdman and the Saints sort of punk too. I tried to get him into some post punk stuff too. The Buzzcocks still stand up. Saw them in the 90s too. They looked geriatric to me but were probably only in their 40s.

A 26-year-old mum has spoken of her anguish at being diagnosed with terminal cancer, just as she was beginning to settle into life with her little girl.
Kellie Gardner gave birth to Sophia in August 2021 and her family-of-three with her fiancee, AFL star Jeremy Finlayson, was just beginning to blossom.
But three months after Sophia was born, Ms Gardner was diagnosed with bowel cancer.
The mum-of-one has fought bravely against the disease, with gruelling rounds of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery.
And the mum-of-one, originally from Port Lincoln, was dealt another crushing blow earlier this month when doctors told her that the stage four cancer had now spread to her lung.

Ms Gardner told 7Life that she was wracked with “heartbreak and fear”.
“The doctors are doing everything they possibly can to ensure that I’m still here for my wedding in October and, even more importantly, I see my daughter at her own wedding in 20 years time,” she said.
Ms Gardner said she first notice something was wrong when she had pains in her stomach, her bowel movements changed and she lost weight.
Her initial thoughts were that these were just the common side effects of becoming a mum, but when she found blood in her poo, she knew something worse was at play.

She was given a colonoscopy, and her world collapsed when she woke up to life-altering news.
“The doctor spoke a whole heap of medical words I still to this day don’t understand but I sure as hell knew the sentence, ‘This is what cancer looks like’,” she said.
The mum-of-one said it took her time to even comprehend that she could have cancer, as it felt like something someone in their 60s might have – not someone in their mid-20s.
Her first thoughts were about how she didn’t want to leave her fiance as a single dad.

The constant fear and worrying about the future robbed Ms Gardner of her first year with her daughter, she says.
“My first year of motherhood was taken from me so suddenly and so aggressively that I still grieve the days I’ve missed,” she said.
She is still fighting back against her cancer and hopes to shrink or maintain it so she can continue to support her daughter.

Radio Birdman was a staple for us in the 70's, a local Thrash/Punk band we would go and see, Rob Younger on vocal and Denis Tek on guitar. Radios Appear was a big hit in our year at Bankstown Boys high in the mid 70,s.

That would have been the era of Celibate Rifles too. Sydney would have been pretty cool to live in back in those days. In the 90s the Sydney scene had a good revival but Melbourne has always had the better music scene overall.

I met an awesome girl at a training just before Covid struck - came to learn she was a very active advocate for patient care, cancer awareness etc. She lost her almost 6 year battle a few weeks ago, have a look at the caption she wrote on the day she died. Takes your breath away.

Read a lot of stuff on spiritual awakening and living in the present moment, and weirdly enough, the tragic loss of a loved one or a person going through serious illness can lead them to a spiritual awakening. Many people seem to be at complete peace in situations like these despite the dire circumstances they find themselves living through. Whilst it's tragic there is beauty to it. I've seen it first hand in my own life, the calmness and strength people show in these moments is really inspiring.

We had a couple of family friends get terminal cancer. It's the only thing that properly scares the shit out of me. It's just straight-up devastation on everyone it touches.

The Lansdown in Glebe or Surry Hills was pretty good in the 90s. It used to get all the indy bands like Hard Ons, Tumbleweed and Space Juniors play there.

I have mates who have it like that.

My ex wife didn't have a choice. I had guitars everywhere and I played where and when I wanted to. It wasn't her thing, but she never complained. She wasn't keen on me buying them, but it didn't stop me.

Current girlfriend says she'll dump me if I stop playing guitar. I've taught her to play acoustic. She can sing too.... it's awesome.
