Has anyone been watching Dana White's Power Slap competition?
These guys are ******* insane.
I like the slow mo replays that show how much their faces move when they get hit.

Has been a thing before Dana took it up, my feel is that so long as boxing is gentrified as a sport with an art then no one should complain slapping becoming mainstream and have any complaint other than it's pitched instead of fluid or else hypocritical nonsense ensues.

Both "sports" hinge on striking another person in the head and potential CTE instances at their core, so say I dislike boxing as woo, you're a BDSM bro and copped punishment and liked it then boo you KO'd the opponent by punching them in the face 8 times before someone stopped you, want a gold star for it not being a slap and a manly thing instead?

I'm only not a fan of slapping since it's pitched, so a bit like cricket sometimes, you win a toss you win the match, thanks for playing like that clip you posted. But I can also see why they're pushing it, as you allow a punch straight to the face as if gloves do anything meaningful to CTE with with full forced punching, why not slapping a cheek? Me, I'd ban both, get your bloodsport in actual art or GTFO.

That American Gladiator 30 for 30 looks great

I still remember going to a random event as a kid and having a chat with Cheeta (Nicola Davico) from the Aus version. NFI what event was these days but yeah, blonde buff chick in leotard happy to chat, what young boy wouldn't want a chat?

Nah, the slap shit is pure sideshow, boxing, mma etc at least has an element of skill and athleticism to it.

I’m not necessarily calling for a ban on slap fighting, two consenting adults wanna give themselves cte for a $5k cheque who am I to stop them, but this shit is freakshow not sport.

I did see on insta the other day one of the slapfight “athletes” post a training video. Clown was doing simulated slaps with a powerband attached to the wall. Dude also had a beer gut Darren Jarman would have blushed at.

You can easily measure the force of someone slapping using a load cell to measure it, so that's one side of the sport.
The rest of it is based on how easy it is to injure the opponent.

I'm thinking of other great sports we could have like this.

: Car crashes ( as a warmup act for motor racing ). The guy who can drive fastest into a wall without dying wins.
: Jumping off a platform onto concrete. The guy who jumps from the highest platform wins. ( you have to climb the ladder under your own steam ).
: Methanol drinking contest. ( Vodka is too easy ).
: Crocodile vs Human swimming contests.
: Randomly timed hand grenade toss.

The possibilities are unending.

Is everyone aware that if you’re in a car accident that wasn’t your fault, and your car has to go in for repairs, or is a write-off, there are “not-at-fault” car rental companies, who will rent you a similar car to the one you were driving, and the at-fault driver’s insurance company foots the bill?

They even drop the rental off at your house and then pick it up at the end.

My car got written off a few weeks ago when we were rear-ended on the Monash on the way in to our game v Port, but my insurance company only told me this today! Luckily we’ve had another car we could use in the meantime.

Wish someone would drive into mine lol, flipping thing has cost me $8k already this year in repairs (and new suspension) and then I blew out 1st gear yesterday. I only changed my gearbox 4 years ago with an apparent "Reconditioned" one, and now first gear is gone.
I love the car, a Nissan Navara 3.0 liter d22, but christ it's costing me this year.

Funnily enough, I only knew this because a chick that worked for AAMI rear ended me on the Tulla and I had a brief moment of "I'm getting pushed into that van by 80+km in a hatchback.. FU..." going through my noggin whilst slamming the break. So she told me what I could do whilst I was in the emergency lane chatting with the van driver all "I believe my bumper is on your end but I have NFI who hit me" before she drove up.

Only accident I've been in also, so, had to be someone that works at an insurer right? Best bullshit luck to get informed on things when half tired after in essence a 14hr day at that point.

Been on the Monash once in my life, had the stupid decision to try it to boycott what was multiple accidents on the Eastern to do a loop around, ended up being worse. Never again.

Was also me, I paid a cousins BF $6k for that hatch as pre-existing damage, I'm no dumbass with things and they wanted it gone, and then spent $4k on a gearbox and motor rebuild later after toying on "do I brick it?" for about a week after it stalled randomly on a road where I could drift off said road with remaining push. Settled on, if I have another issue that meets parity, he's had a good run, but as it's a Jazz and my pic here is Jazz, time to then unicron it and gobble it up at that point as not worth.

I'm at the point where I've just spent $8k on it, I'm gonna be spending about another $4k-$5k on it.. Surely now there's nothing that can go wrong on it. The turbo is still original, but they aren't too expensive.

You've just jinxed it, vale Navara.
