Some solid performances in another close but not good enough loss. 3KZ is Football has continued his fine form in the guts, accumulating 32 touches, 21 by hand. Allikat was great, and was so close to being the difference maker. She had 26 touches off the wing, but sadly kicked 1.3, a little bit straighter and she could have been a hero. Broken was solid, as was A Bit High our of defense. TedDougChris pulverized the Demons with 11 tackles.

Another great effort, against an enjoyable opposition. 16 posters ventured in to banter with the demons, TedDougChris and Mobbs our leading banterers. We might be losing but we are having some fun while it happens.

I don't care much, just makes it a little longer a read when threads are already long. But no huge deal. But frivolous duplicate posting in a world where everybody is comparing notes on how many posts they have made in a thread - like some sort of accolade - is counter-productive. Otherwise

I combine duplicate posts into 1 for obvious reasons. While bragging rights can be based on total posts, assessing actual contribution should be based more on content. That's a bit difficult to measure, but merging duplicate posts is one step that can be taken.

Secondly, 100 posts should not be treated as a bigger contribution than 20 posts. Once you have crested a kind of checkpoint (which I set at 10 posts), everything afterwards is no longer increasing your participation quotient. In fact, when we get up over 50 or 60 or 70 (which I am guilty of), we're probably going backwards as it expands the thread so much that people will choose not to read all posts anymore, thus turning people away. Being present at the match is what's important, that level of presence really flattens out at an early point and no added value follows any more (apart from the content, of course - goes without saying).

Thirdly, consistency over the season is rewarded. But because we are in the here and now, assessment of current participation is not season-wide, but "recency". This is measured by a decrementing but factored score for the week based on posts for this week, last week, and the week before. The player who showed up to post this week is highly valued, but the one who was here the last 3 weeks is valued higher. This applies even if Player 1 posted 10 times every week and Player 2 showed up for the first time and posted 90 times - Player 1 is the more consistent.

In spamming levels we had a good win versus the Swamprats keeping our contribution down to 41% of the total, according to fitzroybowiedog 's stats. Last week was a bit closer, we snuck home for the victory against the Demons with 48% but it wasn't all one-way.

We seem to be having a dream run against the Bombers so far. At the 500 total posts mark we had only 199 which is under 40%. Awesome performance!
