Yep. And it took, what, an 85 point win? As I said, it's a lot. They're still nearly 2% behind

Mate, you jumped up and down earlier saying 6% was near impossible to be made up, it clearly was and obviously still is, which means it remains that if we finish 8th we are still a chance to play the Dogs, you can admit that surely?

Just so people are aware of their respective records against top 8 opponents this year:

Port 2-5, 81.22%
Bulldogs 6-3, 124.05%

My predicted round 23:

Friday Night
Melbourne vs Geelong

Saturday
1.40pm: North Melbourne vs Adelaide
3.20pm: Richmond vs Hawthorn
4.40pm: Carlton vs GWS
7.20pm: Bulldogs vs Port Adelaide
7.20pm: Sydney vs Gold Coast

Sunday
1.10pm: St Kilda vs Fremantle
3.20pm: Essendon vs Collingwood
6.10pm: Brisbane vs West Coast

I said it's unlikely. I'd still be surprised given Port's terrible record against top 8 teams.

Agreed - except I’d swap Doggies/Port with Brisbane/Eagles.

As others have said, just need Port v Bulldogs to not be the Friday night game and we're a show here.

Give Brisbane any sort of incentive to play next week, and it 'should' leave destiny in our own hands (aka - win both, and we're in).

Unfortunately, Port v Dogs make a lot of sense as the Friday night game (both 6 day breaks).
If they prioritise those higher on the ladder for the earlier games, the only other option is Melbourne v Geelong, but with Melbourne playing tomorrow I think they'll avoid the 5-day break for the Dees. Which makes us shit out of luck.

People need to look at the scheduled venues. Docklands have 3 games scheduled plus possibly Sydney vs Gold Coast. They're likely to put one of those on Friday Night, and it can't be Fremantle vs St. Kilda.

It looks like the top 8 is locked in to me as the teams that are there now. Still had a good year considering injuries and a lot of close games.

There is still about 3 ways we can make it.
Are you including the one where Freo beat West Coast but then lose to St. Kilda?

I didn’t even get to permutations where we loose one of our games.
Oh. Because there are literally three.

First is we win both and West Coast lose one
Second is we win both and GWS lose to Carlton
Third is we drop one, Freo beat West Coast but lose to St. Kilda and West Coast lose both

Your first point is two ways, we can get in by west coast being beaten by freo. Or we have another chance the following week if they loose to Brisbane.

Take West Coast out and add Essendon (which is what we want to happen).

Suddenly the record is:
Port 3-4
Bulldogs 4-4

Only marginally better.
FTFY. We're a chance but it's hardly expected given what's happened so far this season.

Dogs are in trouble, think Port will win that. Even if Dogs win I think Lions will do the Eagles. If they rest players players coming in will be like bulls at the gate to impress. Plus Eagles so bad away from home and more so in QLD.

We win both games we’ll make it

If we can knock off the GCoast today I reckon we are in.
I'm more worried about the GCoast today than Collingwood next week.
Collingwood will likely lose Mihochek who is their leading goal kicker this year with 34 which would be a bonus for us, and you'd have to think given Brisbanes 14 goal thrashing of Collingwood at home they'd be able to easily account for WCoast next week at home.
WCoast have only won 2 games all year away from Perth (Hawks & Blues) so not sure how they are going to beat a rampaging Lions at home who may well be playing for a top 4 spot - or even if they are not they will want to carry good form into the finals. The idea that Fagan is going to 'rest' players and flirt with form before finals is illogical - he - and his players will want to win and win well.
We just need to get over the GCoast today and we will be favoured over WCoast to play finals
Please, please, please win today Dons and dont go doing an Essington on us all late in the season..!!
