I cannot believe that SEN finished up and went to the Best of Sen' when the hewitt match was just underway.
I think I am like many who have SEN on in the car and at home even when I am watching the tv Sport.
I was a caller before the match when they were asking for peoples thoughts on what might happen and then when it was 1am Mark and the other guy packed up and we went to a Kevin Bartlett interview.
Seriously this is a joke if the Melbourne home of sport or whatever they want to be called cannot decide that keeping a live show while one of the biggest sporting unusual events is taking place is happening.
The other ridiculous part of this is that they had that Matty Thompson guy there and he even said before they finished he would be staying to watch the match even if it meant staying till whatever am!
I know they have had payment issues overnight but the two guys should have said we should be here till the end.
You will have had most watching on the tv anyway but even if no other radio station was commentating on the Hewitt match if SEN is the home of sport it has to for its reputation stay on live instead of going to replays of the best of SEN .
SEN no wonder people here take a shot at you whoever made that decision at 1am needs to have a rocket up their ass.
It just makes SEN look like a joke and lose reputation

sen are only interested in profits nowadays and running the station overnight might cost them an extra 5 bucks or something so they run crap interviews instead

24/7 sport station

yes but to be fair, they have to cut costs otherwise it may be financially unviable for the station to run in the future ...

I think they should start taking live commentaries from England on late saturday mornings on SEN (Russell Fuller's sportsworld on the newsradio/BBC world service is starting to annoy me, they talk too much $#^%$#@^ african champions league crap there instead of english football chat, who bloody cares about oh some games between Ghana and the Ivory coast etc)

It was a pretty poor effort. I'm sure if they had a bit of forward planning they could have got some people willing to stay on just for that night or even until the Hewitt match finishes up just to get some healthy ratings for people who want to listen to some thoughts on the match.

I dont want to point the blame at the two guys who were on but someone here did post that the program manager wasnt from a sporting background.
Well even if he is not he must have a sense of the importance of the event and at 10 or 11 you could tell that the tennis was going to see hewitt play long past midnight.
If this Mark Johnston guy who runs the programs knows what he is doing then surely he has to put a phone call in and say keep going on guys
isnt that his job to see this coming and to step in to make sure SEN isnt seen to be a joke in a situation like this

running overnights isnt going to send sen down to the ground, they are finally starting to make a bit of cash but it seems they threw away their professionalism at the same time

the website is still a joke as it has been for some time, it seems they can have a different poll everyday but what about a few podcasts/pics/interviews etc?

turned off saturday morning around 12.20 when that self indulgent bore from Stkilda was on. Do we have to hear his "fine culinary delights I enjoyed this week''. He's a pompous wind bag:thumbsdown:

Just waiting for Snoran and his excuse if His little Lleyton love child goes down tonight. He's only mentioned 450 times that Hewitt's game finished at an ungodly hour.

Why didn't you just turn over to live coverage on the ABC?

Lonergan and Whateley were calling it.
To be honest.....never thought of it.......my radio never goes off SEN, and at that time of morning, the brain wasn't thinking too good....having said that, as I've never ever listened to ABC for anything, I dont even think of them....and I knew 3AW wouldn't be doing it....so I went back to sleep...had I known, I could have got up to watch it!!...

I was watching it on television and didnt listen to Sen .
But I am stunned that they had their replay show on while the epic tennis was underway.
When I was younger everyone remembers when Armstrong walked on the moon , I could just imagine Sen going to replays when Armstrong was about to put his foot on the moon.

Sen is a like a ship without anyone to steer it , dont be surprised that Johnston didnt see this problem .
We have learnt he seems to be someone with no foresight or any expertise to steer the Sen ship -its rudderless

Have to disagree with a lot of you on this. The game was on free to air tv live, why would anyone listen to it on the radio?

Think SEN are better of worrying about getting the daytime right and the website than covering tennis which isn't great on radio.

I switch between SEN and the ABC for my sports fix.

Sometimes I feel that Sports Central struggles to be better than Grandstand, but in other instances SC is much better.

I had the radio on for the Hewitt v Baghdatis match because was at a friend's place where a few other people were sleeping so turned the television off so it wouldn't make them up.

Had an earphone in listening to the ABC.

I have a good laugh every morning at KB and Matt Thompson going through the "A-list" of celebs that are to be at the tennis each day.

KB doesn't know who any of them are, but his guesses are pretty funny.

A caller to KB just helped me fill my daily laughter quota...

The topic was which famous people have you met and a guy called up and said "George Harrison... before he died obviously."

Obviously.

None more so demonstrated than today, in that interview with Craig Tiley from the Aus Open.

Patrick was embarassing.

I heard the replay of that yesterday on the way home from work, and it was disgusting. Its fair enough to have a difference of opinion with someone and ask them the tough questions, but to continuously interrupt them, talk over them and not let them have their say is downright rude and arrogant.

And SEN are just as much to blame, using that as their promo for KB's show. Are they saying that they are proud of the way one of their contributors belittles a guest who has been good enough to give them some time when he doesnt have to? Poor form.

I heard off someone that works at SEN that Doran is going to get the flick and be replaced with Harford. Apparantly everyone involved at SEN is sick to death of Doran's attitude.

I was told the same thing by someone close to Harford that Harf was going to take over the hosting of good oil and someone else was going to be his co host.
I was also told that Doran was to be sacked but one member of the mgt wanted him to go and another wanted him to have one last chance.
In the end he has survived the bullet for now but he is a bit like how Denis Pagan at Carlton was with everyone wanting to get rid of him and him knowing so but standing his ground .

Also Francis Leach hosting by himself while OX is away
Francis happy for more than one to fill in when he is away but wanting to do the run home by himself without any co host when OX is away.

Bit of goss for you there
