And two in a row for the old Boys

View attachment 2209908

Thanks again Dinger

The Old Boy's resident daredevil continues to emerge as a topline leader and overall contributor to Sweet. When he's not overcoming his fear of heights, he's churning out media such as Sweet's superior radio station "Snake Radio" while his off season "Poach Watch" has turned many heads as Rob has his finger well and truly on the pulse.

Rob has done a great job internally as the OOB Cabal rep leading discussions and engaging his teammates, especially in match threads where he's a strong presence every week. Join Robertio in his pub for a performance enhancing Guinness to celebrate!

and thanks to jackster83 for some kind farewell notes

The only Swamprat to make the top 20 of the Season 38 Beez Medal is one who made me sad. Yes, in case you have been living under a rock, Phil is leaving the Swamprats.

philreich is to Sin City what Ken Hinkley is to Port Adelaide ducks for cover. He prides himself on not working hard and often falls asleep in team meetings, and I'm sure he puts bets on the other team to win, but he's been a much loved figure at the club and across the league for a long period of time (15 seasons in fact).

Season 38 saw Phil reclaim the (co)-captaincy along with damicky. Playing in his usual on-ball role, he once again had a solid season on the field, averaging 17.1 disposals, 1.3 marks, 5.3 tackles and 72.3 DT, whilst kicking 10 goals for the season. He did briefly move to full forward late in the season, but the move only lasted a week as the L's continued to mount.

Off the field he once again provided a steady stream of dad jokes as well as being one of our most active posters. As a long time member of the SFA simming committee, Phil also contributes strongly to the running of the Sweet FA. Seriously, these people don't get the recognition they deserve.

The Season 38 Toots Hibbert Medal night will be Phil's final engagement as a Sin City Swamprat. I only hope we have enough hors d'oeuvres to keep him content.

…can I just put you on hold for a minute? Someone’s at the door…

* Greensleeves starts playing *

Haha, suckers!

Hi all, qricketing all-rounder Toner Bob here with the 10th running of the Le Grille-gym4life Award. I need the be quick as I’m not sure how long my colleagues will put up with hold music for.

The Le Grille-gym4life Award began as a fever dream from the mind of NaturalDisaster back in season 27 with the purpose of giving to those who wouldn’t normally be on the receiving end of anything like awards, or recognition, or any attention whatsoever. For this is the award given to the ungiveable. To quote from the eligibility criteria: “It's the award for people to both have a match thread posting average at least 25 per week and have received zero points from the beez voting community.”

It's named after two SFA posters of yore who were experts at talking into the void – Le Grille who went voteless in season 23 despite averaging more than 100 posts a week and gym4life who had zero votes in season 26 despite having an active season.

The inaugural winner was cooney in season 27, nobody was crap enough in season 28 to give it to, season 29 saw it shelved before the shelf fell the following season like a pinata, spreading joy across Sweet for each season since after some percussive encouragement. The winners from season 30 onwards have been Matt_352, Cap, Rioli8217, CatToTheFuture, Soggy2112, kickthething, dogs105 and finally Tadpole last season.

This is all well and good, but surely there's something in it for the winners apart from niche online infamy? Well sure there is, it wouldn't be a shonky online award without a shonky online trophy. And the winner of the Le Grille-gym4life Award picks up an absolute stonker - The Golden Shittruck!

Don’t know if the quality was up or the quantity was down, but only one person qualified in season 38 for the Le Grille-gym4life. Before I get to them though, honourable mentions need to go to three people on the Le Grille-gym4life Watch List for posting between 20-25 times a week on average without troubling the voters. They are _Mike_ (22.81 PPW), Elmer_Hauser (20.56) & p4p1 (20.31). Better luck next season!

But in the words of the seminal Hibernian sci-fi classic Highlander, there can be only one. Which is fortuitous because there was only one. And that one, with 44.94 posts per week, is Ophidian camel wrangler kenneyswarriors! Mazel tov kenney, here's your miniature novelty Golden Shittruck trophy!

6. Mobbs New

6 Mobbs.png

Cheers to Mooch for his glowing review

What can be said about Mobbs that hasn't already been said? Captain, coach, Mobbfather of Qooty .... He's also one of the most entertaining posters in the league. When he gets on a roll, look out. He's one of a rare breed who can pump out quality and quantity. He is the instigator of all things good at the Roys - his cupboard full of Itsmyshow awards for spammiest posted attest to that - and is a master of bringing others into the conversation with wit and charm. Some might say he's always drunk but no, that's his wit and charm OK. And it is 120 proof.

Mobbs really is part of the furniture. He knows everybody and everybody loves him. He'll tell you he doesn't care about popularity contests but that's only on the odd occasion he isn't winning them.

5. tony New

In 5th place, there are few better than this guy (four, in fact!)

5 tony.png

JoshWoodenSpoon has something to say y'all

Awow!! This is tony's 600th consecutive selection into the Top 20 of the beez medal. This speaks not only to the charm that has all of the league coming back for more, but also to the substantial hospital bills that result from leaving him off your list. When one thinks of tony one thinks of playful, affable posting that first touches on the topics at hand, and then elevates them to higher and more imaginative levels. tony's knack for a strong visual gag, and his spontaneous use of character and microdrama brings folk from all across the league into the occasion, truly no-one is safe from the far-reaching shadow of this Photoshop menace. His work makes you feel connected to the fabric of the league, like you're a vital yet niche character in a treasured sitcom. tony's posts embody the great expansive spirit of Sweet, there are no two ways about it - if you love qooty, you love tony!

Cheers to Pamcake1 returning the favour from earlier.

AnUltimateResie returns to season 38 with yet another quality season as the fierce but laidback Captain of the Wonders. A supportive Captain to all of his players, operating with spades of sang froid and wry humour. Jessie’s commitment to and running and fostering the Sweet Provincial And Municipal Football League II (SPAM FL) - SFA Reserves is to be commended. As is his producing quality media such as the Season 38 Posting Analysis, a number crunchers heaven of stats.

The Wonders Captain, AnUltimateRessie continues to work hard behind the scenes while being a constant and always amusing presence in all the match threads and across the leagues various Media threads.

Ressie’s mega thread and mega commitment to the reserves:
