Re: Stewie Dew Has Entered The National Draft

Obviously he's convinced Clarkson and Russell that he can lose the serious poundage he's accumulated, so i'd trust their decision if we do play him.

Oh, he was a pretty handy player as well. Would add a 'bigger body'.

In other words you have no idea where to play him?

People forget in Stewie Dews last season he came in with his lowest body fat reading to date, and still his season was mediocre.

Re: Stewie Dew Has Entered The National Draft

Wouldn't go near him. He'd be average at best.

An 'average' Stewie Dew season would still be pretty handy to you guys, i'd play him up forward, half-forward maybe, a big prescence in the forward line, and would create some space.

Or use him as your designated kick-in guy, you are only 1 kick from goal if he gets onto one.;)

You obviously have valid reasons to say no but why make up obvious BS like above. There is no way 2006 was his lowest body fat ( ie. skinfolds ) reading. I doubt that at 8 years of age in 1997 you were "au fait" with players skinfolds ( or for quite a few years after that probably )

No room in our forward line. Why don't Port want him?

Re: Stewie Dew Has Entered The National Draft

he'd be the best small crumbing fwd we've had for a while - worth a crack.

Did I say that?

I'd play him on a HFF to replace someone like Dixon.

People also forget that the same could be said for players like Guerra who quickly found a niche upon their change in environment.

Who said Port don't want him?

I'd take him back.

And I wouldn't waste that left foot in the forward line. I'd have him rotating off the bench on a wing / half back. The guy doesn't need speed to break lines, he just needs a decent lead up field and one step.....and there's your shot on goal.............or rather OUR shot on goal.

Don't pick him up. Leave him for us.

Re: Stewie Dew Has Entered The National Draft

Draft nominations closed at 2pm today.

Interesting if he has nominated for the draft rather than wait for the Pre Season Draft. Interesting because we dont have any picks in the PSD. Or should I say we dont yet have any picks.

Next list management lodgement is this Friday.

If we where going to pick him up via the draft he would stay away from us to stop PA or someone else picking him up earlier than us.

Re: Stewie Dew Has Entered The National Draft

On channel 7 news tonight it said the Hawks were the frontrunners to pick him up so it looks like it might happen.

Why isnt he training with us if though? Is he training at all ? Anyone know?

Re: Stewie Dew Has Entered The National Draft

some people on hear really underestermate how good dew is. i know if we pick him up he will serve us extremely well. he has experiance an that is important in us going forward. if we do have a look at him does that mean we have 2 us 3rd round on him coz thats all where got??? carn the hawkerz pik him up

Re: Stewie Dew Has Entered The National Draft

It's true we need an extra mature, strong body. Dew would fit the bill if he's committed.

But somehow I'd rather them look at a pacy aboriginal kid. There are always some available in the 3rd round. You may pick up a gem with the right research.

Anyway, I suppose I trust Pelchin/Clarko with whatever they decide coz they have the best understanding of where our list is at.

Re: Stewie Dew Has Entered The National Draft

With a box forward line setting up of Roughie, Boyle, Buddy and Willow whats the need of another small body flanker? He kicked 7 goals in his final season.

Bookmark it, if we take Dew he will do **** all in 08.

The third round pick we would have to use on him would be alot better suited on a project player like a small forward. There is no need to top up in 08 we will most likely go back a step whats the point of bringing in another forward into our most prosporous position?

HFF? I rather see the box set up how it is, and use someone with pace to play the flank roles up field like McGlynn and Crawf.

Re: Stewie Dew Has Entered The National Draft

Get him.
We are an other year from seriously expecting success, why not get Dew in for next season while the likes of thorp/dowler etc are still developing, he can only be good for them.
Plus the competition for spots in our already strong forward line will make the kids work even harder.
