Not much in it as we head into the last few rounds...
Round 15
The Roys had ridden their 8 game winning streak to the pinnacle of the ladder, and sat level on points with the Bears and Royals as the minor premiership race heated up. A game back, the Swamprats played the Warriors for a grasp of fourth, while the Demons and Bombers were playing for sixth spot, and the loser of the Wonders/Dragons clash would find it difficult to make the finals.

West Coast Wonders vs Dragons FFC at The Colosseum
Gold City Royals vs Geelong Wolves at The Golden Throne
Coney Island Warriors 13.8 (86) defeated Sin City Swamprats 12.7 (79)
The Coney Island Warriors finished off the first term strongly, to lead at quarter time by 4 goals, but were pegged back in the second as the Swamprats piled on half a dozen to take the lead at the half. And it looked like the Sin Cityites would go on with it, building a 19 point lead by the third quarter siren, but the Warriors lifted again, and overran the Rats in the final term, booting 5 goals to 1 to salute by 7 points. Jazny had 31 touches for the winners, while miggs with 26 topped the Rats stats. Gray Day led all scorers with 5 majors.
Las Vegas Bears 15.12 (102) defeated Roys FFC 13.5 (83)
The MOTR between the top 2 teams was a cracker from go to whoa. The Las Vegas Bears maintained a slim advantage throughout the first half, but the Roys kept them in sight, and only trailed by 2 points at the long break. The Roys hit the front for the first time with the first goal of the 3rd stanza, but the Bears steadied with the last 2 goals of the term to ease out by 13, and they were never headed in the last, stubbornly holding on by 19 points and reclaiming top spot. For the winners, Matera92 (23 disposals) and RookiePick (22) topped possession counts, while the Roys were led by Willo_ in the ruck with 20 touches and 2 goals and Fred with 5 perfect kicks.
Mount Buller Demons 22.8 (140) defeated Baghdad Bombers 14.9 (93)
Just 2 points separated these teams at first review, splitting 10 goals with Demons spearhead Azaroledobbing 3. And the Demons rode superior goal-kicking accuracy to a 1 point half-time lead, before another spurt from Azarole vaulted them to a 16 point ¾ time lead. The Demons then streeted the Bombers with a 6 goal to 1 final stanza, to win by 47 points and keep top 4 hopes alive. Azarole finished with 9.4, and Van_Dyke had 25 disposals, while for the Bombers @sainkildaman had the most touches with 24.
East Side Hawks 15.13 (103) defeated Fighting Furies 6.9 (45)
With the Furies fighting to remain in finals contention, a match-up with the wooden-spooners-elect East Side Hawks seemed a tonic, and they kept the Hawks goalless through the uninspiring first term. But the Hawks had looked too good to occupy their lowly position, and clicked into gear with a goal rampage in the second to go to the rooms 28 points up. They then duplicated the 6 goal to 1 term in the third, to wrap the match up with a uarter to go, and coasted to a 58 point victory and step off the bottom. The Hawks could thank GN80 for his 22 touches and The Filth Wizard for his 6 goals, while the dismal Furies were best served by tgrs 33 disposals.
West Coast Wonders 17.7 (109) defeated Dragons FFC 16.11 (107)
The Dragons continued their habit of fast stars, bolting to a 28 point lead at first break, and despite LicoriceAllsorts briefly putting the West Coast Wonders ahead during the third, still held a solid 11 point lead at last huddle. What followed was one of the great final terms, as the Dragons edged out to a 16 point lead with nearly 20 minutes gone, only to see @Bucking Bead snare a quick brace, allowing a heroic goal by JT_the_Man to steal a famous victory for the Wonders on the siren. 23 diposals and 2 goals from Bucking Beads was the Wonders best, while @ Swallow with 22 led the Dragons.
Gold City Royals 16.8 (104) defeated Geelong Wolves 9.5 (59)
Equal top versus bottom hardly seemed fair, but the Geelong Wolves scored the first 2 goals of this game, before the Royal machine clicked into gear. They led by 16 points at the half, 21 points at the final end change and kept the Wolves goalless in the final term to waltz away with a 45 point victory, consigning their opponents to the foot of the ladder. Thatsapaddlin had 33 disposals for the winners, and Footypie32 26, while GWBogan with 22 touches was best for the sorry Wolves.
