Good evening ladies and gentlemen of the Sweet FA and welcome to your live telecast of the Season 23 Mobbenfuhrer Medal, the night of nights for players and coming to you for the first time to kick off the biggest week of the Sweet FA calendar, the Grand Final week. I am your host, league administrator The Filth Wizard and I hope you enjoy the next forty five minutes or so as we anoint the new best and fairest player in the league, the Mobbs Medallist and recognise the best individual efforts of the season.

Before we start the count I must start by saying that these events don't come gift wrapped and I'm certainly not the main (nor in any way major) contributor to tonights celebrations. I'd like to thank our team of round reviewers in Ant Bear, Mooch _Cayz_. I'd especially like to thank @haydo169 and Hate for their tireless work in ensuring the graphics are top shelf, an often inane task but without which we have no visual show.

I'd also like to thank our contributors during the season. Our simmers, our match posters, our statisticians, our podcasters. The league can't survive without it's volunteers so everybody that went that one step beyond this season, my endless thanks.

On with the show...

Round One

A new season, full of hope and expectation. An unprecedented recruiting drive by the clubs and ClarkeM saw over 50 rookies debut in round 1, along with many stars relocating. brahjand Loonerty went to the Hawks; RodneyDangerfield and DemonJim to the Demons; Golumless joined the Swamprats; Wacky Tiger came home to the Furies; Hatchy1992defected to the Dragons, and pantskyle reluctantly ended up at the Wolves. Meanwhile, HaroLad delisted most of the Bombers’ list and signed 15 rookies, whilst the Bears also went for a post-premiership rebuild.

Roys FFC 18.12 (120) d Dragons FFC 12.15 (87) dragon Island

Two S22 finalists met in a cracking game. The Dragons had recruited heavily, and under new captain cammo6556 had 6 new faces. This seemed to unsettle them as the Roys jumped them early with a 7 goal to 2 opening, and they extended to a 38 point halftime margin before cruising to a comfortable victory. Mighty P with 24 touches and fitzroybowiedog with 23 and 10 tackles got off to a sizzling start to the season, while deposed Dragon skipper Hate was his team’s best with 29 disposals.

Fighting Furies 26.14 (170) d Coney Island Warriors 12.8 (80) @Van Cortland Park.

With club legends Wacky Tiger and rfctigerarmy returning, the Furies raced away with this game, kicking eight goals in the first term and won every quarter against a disappointing Warriors outfit, eventually saluting to the tune of 90 points. An array of Furies could be interested in this voting round, but best chances come from akkaps with 29 touches, tgrs with 27 and new co-captain Sterge with 5 goals, while Frankston Rover was the only Warrior to perform with 29 disposals and 6 tackles.

Las Vegas Bears 24.12 (156) d Gold City Royals 14.9 (93) @ The Golden Throne

A free-flowing first half ended with Las Vegas slotting 13 goals to the Royals’ 10, but thereafter the reigning Premiers demolished the Royals, now steered solo by Blacky, careering away to a 63 point win. Doctor Gero with 10 goals took an early ALF lead, and probable votes, while SpaceClef amassed 34 touches and Matera92 25. BigJoeD_ battled hard for the Royals, and Thatsapaddlin may score votes for his 9 tackle performance.

Geelong Wolves 10.2 (62) d West Coast Wonders 7.6 (48) @ The Lair

Reigning wooden spooners the Geelong Wolves had made a S22 habit of falling away after fast starts, and they carried this characteristic into the first game of a new season. The difference being, their opponents the Wonders were worse. After booting 6 goals to two in the first term, the Wonders at least fought back to kick 4 goals in the second and draw within 3 points. What followed was possibly the worst quarter of Qooty ever seen, with a total of 2 behinds, bth to the Wonders. The Wolves finally found some system, and kicked away to win by 14 points. Geelong prisoner pantskyle and Wonder Kangaroos4eva will probably get votes for tackles, in a game where all played poorly.

Baghdad Bombers 21.12 (138) d Sin City Swamprats 18.13 (121) @ Abdu Prison

Count ‘em…NINE Baghdad rookies debuted in this game, as HaroLad put faith in his rebuild. The Bombers took a narrow 4 point lead into the main break, and put a gap on the Swamprats in the third term with 6 goals to 2, before holding an inaccurate Sin City outfit at bay in the last to salute by 17 points. TheCoach16 was best of the Bombers’ rookies with 32 disposals, forming a fledgling partnership with Tony Lynn 15, while Ant Bear moved to ruck with 36 disposals and 3 goals.

upload_2017-6-19_18-57-36.png

Mount Buller Demons 15.7 (97) d East Side Hawks 12.9 (81) Waverley Park

Ex-Bears captains brahj and DemonJim found themselves on opposite teams in the first game of S23, but it was the latter’s Demons who looked more organised. Azarole sank 5 majors to lead Mt Buller to a gun-to-tape victory, with recruits RodneyDangerfield and DemonJim prominent among the best. Loonerty and The Filth Wizard battled gamely for the Hawks, but too much was left to too few.

Round Two

The Fighting Furies big win vaulted them to the top of the ladder, and dumped the Coney Island Warriors to the bomb shelter. Round one winners Mt Buller and the Roys squared of for undefeatedness, as did the Bears and Wolves, while two of the Royals, Swamprats, Warriors and Wonders were assured of their first win of the season.

Coney Island Warriors 22.13 (145) d West Coast Wonders 21.8 (134) @ The Colosseum

This was an entertaining game. Scores were level at quarter time, and only a goal separated the teams at the half, before the Warriors made a decisive third term charge to lead by 29 points as they turned for home. But the Wonders booted the first five goals of the last to hit the front, before the Warriors recovered to win a shootout by 11 points. Warrior skipperette Wooshette, with 36 disposals, 7 tackles and 8 frees, should get top billing, alongside stalwart Frankston Rover, while new Warrior I Don’t Care, with 33 touches and 9 tackles, should also be in the votes. Few Wonders stood out apart from 6 goal hero TheBeardAmigos.

Dragons FFC 13.9 (87) d Fighting Furies 8.11 (59) @ Punt Road

The Furies were brought back to Earth with a thud . After slotting 26 goals in round 1, the seasoned Dragons kept them to a mere 8 goal total, and found enough firepower to run out comfortable 28 point victors. Consistent Dragon Hate led his team with 25 disposals, while Knifey Spooney racked up 9 tackles. For the Furies, _Cayz_ had 26 touches and tgrs or akkaps may also feature in voting

upload_2017-6-19_19-2-45.png

Mount Buller Demons 19.9 (123) d Roys FFC 13.11 (89) @ The Snow Dome

Two round one winners squared off, and for three quarters, this was a tight affair, before the Demons got on top in the final term with 6 goals to 1 and triumph by 34 points. Dual Mobbs winner lanky_wes bagged 6 goals to lead the Demons to victory alongside on-ballers Oddhawk and DemonJim, whilst the Roys can hope for Mooch to score votes for 32 disposals.

upload_2017-6-19_19-2-27.png

Baghdad Bombers 16.12 (108) d East Side Hawks 16.10 (106) @ Waverley Park.

A thriller! After the Hawks jumped the Bombers with a 6 goal to 2 opening, East Side re-organised to fight back with 8 second term majors to lead by 7 points at the main break. The hawks pulled away again in the last, and with a 20 point ead 10 minutes in, looked home, only for the Bombers to stage a stirring charge with rookie Stan The Caddy kicking the winner in the last minute. HaroLad was pivotal in the fightback and should pol, and @EltonJohns Wig was the Hawk’s best player.

upload_2017-6-19_19-3-10.png

Gold City Royals 19.13 (127) d Sin City Swamprats 15.6 (96) @ The Underground Stadium

A seven goal second term and a 6 goal haul to Blacky powered the Gold City Royals to a comfortable victory over the Swamprats. Thatsapaddlin and Nakia were terrific for the Royals, while Ant Bear was the Swampie’s best.

upload_2017-6-19_19-3-29.png

Geelong Wolves 14.12 (96) d Las Vegas Bears 10.9 (69) @ The Stadium In The Sky

The Bears shot out of the blocks with a 7 goal to 3 opening, but the Wolves slowly pegged the deficit back to only trail by a goal at the final change, and then exploded with a 6 goal final term to get the chocolates by 27 points.Wolves rookie 06Premiers and veterans Quivorir and pantskyle powered Geelong home, with only kane249 a chance of heisting votes for the vanquished.

Give it a rest mate.

Why aren't you flogging it up about Noobz0r missing a nom?

I'm not really sure what you're referring to. Please don't spoil the All SFA team for me.

I was predicted to get 2 votes that round.

Good to see the Boys Club have rigged this count.

Given that the Boys Club enabled the Bombers season to extend 2 weeks beyond what it should, you should be the last to complain about it.

Can the boys club take control of their members?

Can the Gentlemen's Club and the Boys Club please bleed out of their vaginas somewhere else?

Round Three

Three undefeated teams in the Wolves, Demons and Bombers, and three teams still winless in the Swamprats, Wonders and Hawks. The Bombers faced the Demons in the MOTR to decide who would stay 100%, while top played bottom at The Lair. League legend Fred would become the first to reach 400 games, while foundation clubs the Demons and Wonders also reached the 400 game total.

Roys FFC 16.7 (103) d Fighting Furies 12.8 (80) @ Brunswick Junction Oval

Fred’s 400th game, an SFA record, inspired his Roys to a 5 goal lead at half time, and they extended this to 6 at the last change, before withstanding a furious Furies charge in the last to salute by23 points. It will be an injustice if Fred goes voteless here. His 7 goal haul was a standout, although fitzroybowiedogwas also fantastic, and _Cayz_ dominated the ruck for the Furies.

upload_2017-6-19_19-6-26.png

West Coast Wonders 21.5 (131) d Dragons FFC 17.8 (110) @ Dragon Island

The Wonders celebrated their 400th game by slotting goals from everywhere on Dragon Island. An accurate West Coast side slammed on 7 goals in the second term to blow the game open, and despite the Dragons drawing within 9 points, the Wonders finished the job in style with a 6 goal closing term to grab their first win of S23. haydo23 won the ruck and ran forward to boot 4 goals, and was best on. But the Dragons had many high possession winners, and cammo6556 and Hatchy1992 are good chances to poll.

upload_2017-6-19_19-5-41.png

Las Vegas Bears 19.12 (126) d Coney Island Warriors 15.8 (98) @ Van Cortland Park

The Bears stormed out of the blocks at Van Cortland Park with an 8 goal blitz, and their accuracy in the first half was astounding as they held the Warriors at arms length for the rest of the game to comfortably gather the 4 points. Rookie forward pocket Noidenous outshone spearhead Doctor Gero with 6 goals; fellow noob Game of Sloanes may get his first votes as well, and Matera92 dominated on the wing for the winners, but Warrior spearhead craffles was best on with 7 goals in a low-pressure game.

upload_2017-6-19_19-6-47.png

Baghdad Bombers 20.7 (127) d Mount Buller Demons 12.4 (76) @ Abdu Prison

Two undefeated teams clashed for ladder advantage, but this was a mismatch from the first bell as the Bombers piled on 5 goals without reply. And it only got worse for the Demons, as the Bombers surged to a 43 point ¾ time lead before easing to a 51 point thumping. Led by beez, who moved into the ruck early on, and HaroLad, the Bombers had most of the best players, with only Fryer Tuck and Oddhawkputting up any Demon resistance.

upload_2017-6-19_19-5-16.png

Sin City Swamprats 20.11 (131) d Geelong Wolves 17.9 (111) @ The Lair

Some would say that this result was sewn up inside the first second, when Ant Bear was dragged from the ground, but in fact this was a see-sawing tussle throughout the first half with 8 lead changes. However, the winless Swamprats broke away in the third term to establish a 26 point advantage, and held a comfortable lead to the wire. Rejuvenated roving duo Noobz0r and Golumless led the victory march along with Quadzilla on the wing, while miggs, in his first game against his former club, was best for the Wolves who suffered their first reversal of the season.

upload_2017-6-19_19-7-5.png

Gold City Royals 16.10 (106) d East Side Hawks 12.7 (79) @ The Golden Throne

The Royals and Hawks went goal-for goal in the first half, with 8 lead changes and never nore than a 2 goal margin, but a Blacky spurt in the third term gave the Royals a vital break of 27 points at the last change, which they held on to at the final siren, leaving the Hawks as the only winless team and stone motherless last. Blacky ended up with a bag of 7 goals, and was the most influential Royal since the Queen Mum. Thatsapaddlin amassed 32 touches, 11 tackles and 2 goals to dominate The Filth Wizard, who may receive consolation votes as the Hawks’ best player.
