JAB, it's all Mick's fault. Ratts left us with a top 4 list and a lock for the flag ;)

Ratten and co not only filled the place with genuine list cloggers - but also ( when they knew their time was up ) made sure Malthouse and the new regime were hamstrung in their critical first year - by a bunch of extended contracts to players who we already knew were never going to make it. This is like corporate sabotage a very dirty chapter in Carlton's history - swept under the carpet...

The first chance Malthouse got - he removed 10 players from list. Pretty much another ten will go this year - from a list that is even over 40 long now. What kind of insanity saw teh club put together such a non-competitive list over so many years?

Watching skinny runts like Holman forced into playing against hard bodied A graders from Port on Friday night made me very very angry - so not fair on th young ones.

So pissed off about the so called supporters who post in here emanating disappointment at losing by 100+ points - HAVE A LOOK AT WHO WAS PLAYING FFS!! Yarran should not have even been on the field in the second half - he was on one leg.

Carlton is lucky to be able to field 22 players let alone a competitive team against a Club with 41/44 players available.

I mean't more in terms of Boyd being a very good forward + not too bad in the ruck. He's definitely not a Levi where he looks better roaming/2nd ruck than as a pure forward.

The guy has played a handful of games. I think a lot of the hype is based on his junior performances than anything.

Tom Hawkins is never wasted jumping around in a ruck.

Could this be a part of the Mitchell deal???

I wrote this on Friday night.
A caller rang in on SEN and thought Warnock to Swans for Tom Mitchell. Obviously there'll need to be some draft picks involved as well, but the SEN panel didn't think it was a bad idea.

He was most definitely tried in that position in 2010 & 2011 before he nailed down that FF position as his own.

If you think Boyd is a ruck forward - just say so. Pretty hard to carry on a discussion if people ignore context don't you think? My context is - Boyd is either a candidate as a ten year full forward or not. If not - then there are plenty of ruck forward types to consider and what is all the whooo haa about Boyd? IF he is a genuine FF specialist candidate - then fair enough and the frenzy about him might be worth the effort.

As would Toby Nankervis(emergency more than once), Sam Naismith(injury prone) and Patrick Mitchell(Pyke mkII)

Yep it was noted a while ago that the swans ruck stocks are actually 6 deep. 3 Ok senior rucks and 3 developing.

Face it, we are stuck with Warnock for another year and will get 206 pinches of shit for him if we are lucky.

I didn't watch the game but I heard a few quarters on the radio and the commentators were getting pretty excited by some big pack marks and marks on the lead - sounded good for a five or so game player

1 kick, 2 handballs, 1 mark, 0 contested marks, 2 hitouts, 4 tackles.

He probably flew for some marks but didn't bring them down. This sort of game does highlight that he is a first year player and it is going to take some time.

No need to get narky. Ideally Boyd would be a full time forward, but due to his size he will always be in danger of having to play the part time ruck role. In danger of going in too big on gameday having 3 200cm players in the squad.

Its worth noting at this point that Kreuzer was also rated strongly for his KPF work as a junior. But only the crazies still bang on that he should be, could be developed as a forward. He goes ok some games as resting forward, but its his rucking and onball work that's blue chip when the poor sod isnt sidelined.

Fair to say that the Patton injury has put a holt on proceedings with Boyd. He hasn't however completely ruled it out, but it has definitely made his decision harder.

On another note, something which made me ill was that Rory Sloan agreed to come to us last year, but we were unable to satisfy the crows with a trade. When the club says that we have cap space... believe them!!!
Is there a chance we would try again with Sloan this year or has that ship sailed?

I'd say Boyd would be a genuine FF for us. Malthouse is convinced Kreuzer isn't a number 1 ruck man because he's too small apparently. o_O

There's been a bit of talk about the AFL ditching the sub rule, which would allow us to run 3 x 200cm players. Boyd - FF, Kreuzer - backup/roamer, ? - #1 ruck.

Ive been wanting Kreuzer to play as ruck/rover or center for a while now. Let Wood take the center bounces and they can share the stoppages. Kreuzer jumping has made me twitchy since the first time he did his knee. He's definitely talented enough to handle the inside work.
