well super wog if thats the case maybe fedrals an corryong need to spend some of thier money on some ressie players so there locals can get agame or field all locals in first grade.

there's nothing worse than locals not getting agame at thier own club.
i'll be over to listen to your address at half time super wog ,i won't be playing due to injury all the best

why would they bother putting money into it? with the scarce money they do have, they put it into thier 1sts as any club would - its no good that its tough on the 2s comp but the upper murray reserves is not a standard where you would bother putting money into - no offence to any players but its not that profitable. i agree its good to help top up the 1's and assist youngsters stepping up but alot of clubs just dont have the resources to invest in something with minimal returns.

silver kid if money is that scarce where do these clubs find the money to buy 3 to 5 players to play the last six to seven games just so they can play in finals . maybe they could use that money to pay some guys petrol money to help thier ressie out.
country footy is about socialising winning the game is a bonus
money has stuffed country footy and unless clubs start addressing this clubs will travel further to play because they will end up killing off there opposition

it's a disgrace if corryong and federals don't field 2's.they are the powerhouse clubs of umfl along with bullioh.like many have said if they sign players at the start of the season then maybe more would come along with those guys.

so only one more sleep for you guys.

i think the league should have a hard look at it's self and realise that some clubs get away with more then other. When you recuirt you should be looking for players to fill both grades and hoping that players will turn up. Hey Demon dribble what does your club in regards to 2nd's ????

At least Corryong have a 2nds Coach. Dont think Feds will have a team for the year seeing as half their Seniors would be better suited in the Reserves.
To Tumbas credit they played a great game and won by a comfortable 4 goals. Feds didnt look like winning at any stage.
How did the Bullioh/Cudge game pan out? I know Bullioh won but wot about the much talked about Reserves?
Makes you wonder wot hope the teams have when the league is flat out getting umpires for the Senior matches. I heard the league president was making phone calls to blokes last night trying to get umpires. Any thoughts out there on how they went?

haven't heard about cudgy v bullioh game yet.did check the score and the seniors must have put in a good contest.the 2's is anyones guess but did notice that rocket played??? are they short on players at this stage???

well done the real toecutter!!! a win is a win.

I did notice that no umpires in the border mail friday but though it was a miss print. But then spoke to someone saying that there was no umpires.it hard enough on the guys that umpire the 2's and that standard is well........i leave that up those who play 2's. But to have them umpire seniors wouldn't help the standard of footy up there!!!!! So is the league falling apart???? Time will tell and this season could be a a testing one for the league and hopefully things get better and it doesn't become part of the TDFL DIV 2 !!!!!

With that type of thinking no wonder that comp is going backwards. What is wrong with appointing reserves coaches who can go out and recruit 10 or so players to fill up sides. Cudgy and Bullioh have always had good numbers cause they get coaches who will bring players with them. In the Hume league the BB Saints 2's who only won 1 game last year have more than 30 players to pick from and thats because their coaches get off their arse and bring players regardless of ability. Reserves footy isn't about being profitable its about bringing more people into your club, giving kids and LOCALS who aren't up to senior standard still getting a game. Anyway at Cudgy when the 2's had the bye the attendance and bar sales were down so that would offset the costs of fielding a team.

Corryong and Feds have the old Upper Murray mentality of only seniors matter especially after round 5. Don't be surprised if you see Bullioh put in an application to join the Tallangatta league next year. They run their club far more professionally than any other up there and see the bigger picture for their ENTIRE club not just the narrow minded views of the Corryong clubs.:mad::mad:

I have got nothing against clubs making an effort getting decent 2's coaches - if they can afford it finanancially and time-wise they would be stupid not too - however my point is that it is "reserves" - simply a means to backup the main team. If clubs can attract a handful of decent 1's players, the 2's will also become stronger - at the end of the day success in the 2's means very little to the clubs in comparison to senior success. its great that some clubs (cudge and bullioh) can get travellers to play in their 2's, but its hard to find people like this for every club. just my point of view here.

who looks the goods to win the goal kicking up their this year? and any early predications for league b&f??

I think goal Kicking would be hard not to choose Clint Tolkin he is on the end of a pretty handy mid field and he looked good on the weekend. And the B & F would be to hard to call since only 2 games have been played, well i reckon anyway.

Well the upper murray league was up and running on the weekend
was there an upset? who picked Tumba to beat Federals?
Cudge put up a great effort against bullioh, with both bulliohs seniors and reserves winning. Talking to a few of my mates from federals, if you think tumba's rugby league guys cant play aussie rules... well, They can! one thing i was told by the federal guys is that you can tell when you being tackled by them, because they're very hard & fit! Word has it tumbas coach is hopefully getting two more league boys to cross over who are around 80-90kilos and mobile. Also been told he's been talking to a riverina first grade player about his expressing an interest in becoming player for tumba depending on his work comitments & might bring 2 of his mates with him. Federals did play a good match, just wernt fit enough. Remember guys by round 5 submit your best uppermurray interleague team. Sorry superwog, didnt get time to buy you a beer but i thought your coaching was of high standard. All best to everyone this week.:)

Yeah i could imagine those rugby players would be good at the physical stuff - skills and inability to read play might let them down but if they're havin a crack at aussie rules good on them! be good to see tumba a bit more competitive these days.

Local derby of feds v corryong should be good this weekend - both sides probably not in a position they would like but always seem to lift when they play each other.

Anyone see how sam mullo went on the weekend (if he played).. he's got some good hands on him and will be a gun pretty soon

should be interesting to see how walwa go with all there new player coming to the club. will be good to see if they pick up some handy footballers

hey fellas hope u dont mind me joining ur thread just thought it was about time a border walwa player joined

I think our 1s will be a pretty handy side and i think that by the looks of it it is going to be a fairly even year in the comp.I must admit i dont really know much about this league but im looking forward to getting out there this weekend and taking on the so called might of bullioh.

We would be thinking that we would have a 2's but the game is still a couple of days away.

How about Bullioh just reading today's paper and they have just got the O & M 2's leading goal kicker, they must be out to buy that falg this year.

Yeah, a good get, given that he had about 400 clubs chasing him when he decided to pull the pin on O&M. By his own admission, will only play 3 or 4 games this year when it suits him, but will be handy come finals time.

Definately a handy pickup, whats the blokes name and what club is he from? whats the reason with only playing 3 or 4 games?
