Umpire Chris Donlon, O. M. ****ing G.:eek::mad:

The hide of playing the umpiring video on HTB rules to the crowd before the game, as is to say "Listen you people, these are the rules, okay."
I could not believe they showed us that and remembered thinking "That's not how it's going to be paid though. Should get the ****ing maggots out here to watch this".

Not paying Rog's mark, not paying a couple of high contacts, not paying Norf's deliberate out of bounds then paying it against Jed who tried to handball along the boundary & keep it in.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

And they weren't in the last quarter.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Umps were absolutely gun shy in the second half. If they don't have the courage to officiate and play the bleeding obvious in tight games then they need to find another job.

Woman behind me constantly bitching about Merrett and deriding him all game
drove me bloody nuts.
Support the team or piss off!

Merrett and Adcock consistently bring out the stupid in the more clueless Gabba punters.

Sharpless shouldn't have done the Browny intro.

He should've known that he'd get a frosty reception, and that it'd be an awkward moment ahead of Browny getting to speak. Only served as a little reminder of the troubles we've got at a time when all we should've thought about is the great man's career. Would've been plenty of other people who could've introduced him.

Didn't affect JB though. Absolutely killed it.

I heard some boo'ing just before Sharpless spoke.

I mean.. I heard some boo'ing other than my own... ;)

Yep. It was 84 percent crickets chirping, 1 percent polite golf clapping, 15 percent booing I reckon.

So...so..SO close to beating Yakuza in Metroid: Fusion. What happens? I get killed by the X Core.

I hate videogames.

Can't blame the umps for that one. Giving McStay the ball in that situation was ridiculously dumb.

Ah, but McGrath went to take it and was waved away by the umpire for some reason. I suppose the umpire was trying to get the game moving but I don't think he had any right to do that.

Massive vent at the Melbourne moderator, Biffinator.

Telling patfullfankezz to "**** off now" after going in to show sympathy for a hard fought contest.

What a tosser.

If my post is out of line then remove it please, sorry.

I thought this too, but on second viewing perhaps McGrath was simply telling him to 'settle it down' (at least that's what his arm movement seemed to indicate).

In a comp with an uneven draw, the AFL says we must have constant blockbuster numbers between teams like Carlton and collingwood twice a year, because they generate money.

And yet the schedule it at a time when not many people are interested in going. How does that generate the big dollars.

I think they said it was the lowest crowd between the two for decades. If the idea of constantly skewing the draw for blockbusters is to make money, then make it at a time when people want to go.

Lowest crowd between Collingwood and Carlton since 1921.

And being a Collingwood home game ,already Ed has hit the radio waves raving like the idiot he is, that he wants Gill to underwrite the loss of revenue due to poor scheduling...So when Ed said "You could schedule Collingwood to play anytime and the masses would turn out to support the biggest AFL draw card.... he was just telling another filthy furphy....;)

McStay did have the ball in his hands for quite a while - long enough for the ump to be in a position to whistle him for the hurry up, so I'm not going to hang the ump for that part of it. McStay should have put it on the ground earlier and walked away.

But I will hang the ump for calling it, when the other 99 times that it happens, they don't call it. Watched a couple of other games on the weekend, with guys clearly on the line and it never gets called. While I can't understand why players get so close to the line, I conversely can't understand why umps call it unless it is super super obvious that some advantage has been obtained. No consistency. But then again, there are plenty of rules they're not consistent on.

Stupid rule anyway, tell the players they'll bring it back if they seriously offend by trying to abuse it but don't call the small ones.

I wanted to boo but didn't. Didn't want to politicise the moment.

No-one in my section booed. Pretty uneducated part of the crowd though, when it comes to that sort of stuff. Heard a couple of people say "who's that bloke?"
I did too (want to boo), I thought the tiny ripple of applause he got spoke volumes (about 3 people).
