They made a mistake, but with the drivers title all but in the bag now they don't need anyone else in the car. He's 62 points up mate.

But if I were to pick it would be Lawson
Lawson could get the gig, but expect some change this week. My shocker is i think Hamilton is done like a dinner these days and Ferrari may have made a huge mistake!

What annoys me most about this, and its repeating what Bernie Collins said at the time (and btw how refreshing to get a break from the non-stop babbling of Chandhok and Croft with the crosses to hear her calm and knowledgable input).

And that is that it took immense skill for Max and the two Alpine drivers to stay out in that worsening wet weather on old tyres when the risk of them going off was escalating at every turn. Yes it was a calculated gamble hoping for a Red Flag but the driver skill and guts to make it stick should not be underestimated.

A well deserved win for Max and podiums for Ocon and Gasly. To say there was no talent involved is not just a sooky dummy spit from Norris but wrong.

This race weekend could be summed up with 3 different things

1 MAX

2 HAHAHAHAHAHA Lando

3 HAHAHAHA what a shit show for everyone involved in all choices this weekend

And bonus one ... Lando will never win a WDC unless his car is 2023 beast mode and his team mate sucks and even then he will probably bottle it.

You’d think if they were going to move Perez on, they would have done it after Mexico. Only reason for not could be this race being the week after I guess. I don’t think they will but damn he has to go, what an embarrassment most of his season has been.

Herbert might get a knighthood for not giving them even more
Don't think it matters much at this point norris fluffed his championship there will be no team orders now.
Technically 86 points on the table still if you win all 3 races + sprint + fl which means max needs 23 points to secure it a series of p6-p7 finishes will do it.

Almost certainly over in vegas, its a ferrari track and norris has to beat max by minimum 2 spots just to keep it alive if he doesnt win.

1. Hopefully this puts to a end the team orders at McLaren. Norris is a serial bottler who cannot win the WDC (at least not this year anyway).

2. The commentary team couldn't even give Max credit without having to bring up his previous incidents. That was an unbelievable drive just leave it at that. Bit of a shocker across the weekend for the Sky Team.

3. If you were Haas, you'd have to be a little worried about your investment in Bearman. Will give him the benefit of the doubt in his third race, but he looked out of his depth.

4. I cannot fathom a scenario where Sergio Perez is in F1 next year. Surely he does the honorable thing and announce his retirement in Abu Dhabi.

At least when they signed Vettel he had a few years left in him. Yesterday Hamilton looked old. Alonso too for that matter.

BTW...

Imagine being a mechanic in the Aston Martin team - spending several hours of rushed backbreaking work putting the boss's kid's car back together after his qualifying crash only to see the kid drive it into the fence in the formation lap.

Even better view

First of all Lance Stroll...lol, even Daddy would have to be having second thoughts.

Secondly, when Lando went off at the restart how is it not considered gaining an unfair advantage when he cut the corner to rejoin and only lose one place? If he hadnt of cut the corner he would have lost multiple positions.

Thirdly, I cant stand Lando what a petulant little grub, have to laugh at his continual bottle jobs.

what pissed me off in the quals was the lando cheer squad lamenting oscar getting intermediate tyres while lando had wets - as did everyone else. oscar was sent out as the test case to protect lando, and the moment it was working, they pitted norris and gave him intermediates. the only members of the sky F1 team worth their salt are brundle and bernie.

Rosberg and Button are good as well.

Crofty is a good play by play guy, but awful when he starts to interject with his opinions.
Karun is awful
Danica Patrick is awful
Damon Hill is past it (should have turfed him with Herbert)
Naomi Schiff doesn't add much of value

17th to 1st. And Lando says Max was “lucky”.
Lando is making me wish for the days when Lewis was top Brit. Mostly he acknowledged such a great drive.
As far as the start procedure incident, I would argue that when there is a formation lap, leading to the race start, the pole sitter is in command of the grid. If the pole sitter moves then all the grid would assume he is again in control of the grid and is starting another formation lap.
No other driver should be penalised.

It was to be fair. Any time anyone makes up a huge chunk of places because of boxing or not boxing under a safety car or red flag it is pure luck.

Might be a frosty flight home

Norris was lucky for most of qualifying AND the sprint, but sure go the petulant child route

It's not really luck, it's Mclaren ballsing it up again.

Can't be luck if it keeps happening.

Add to this, Damon Hill was in the interview with Horner and mentioned how Verstappen showed his brilliance coming from 17th. Horner cut in and said they 'will have to get that on record, Damon said something nice', Hill went into defensive mode after that.

Red Bull vs Skysports/British media is top notch.

I don't understand the wet tyre thing with safety car, it happens almost every year recently. FIA need to make a change to the rules when it's raining and make it clear what is going to happen.

How can it be fair to those who looked for an advantage and put on the correct tyre (W), those on new/old inters and the wrong tyre pay no penality.

Why would anyone pit for wets ever when they are counting on being give a safety car/red flag, it's a massive disadvantage. All it does is encourage a dangerous practice

Agree. Why have a wet tyre at all when drivers know they can just play chess and ice skate around on inters and force the red flag for a free stop.

There were 3 or 4 drivers who took the punt on wets and were making their way through the field only for it to be taken off them..

The wets are there and everyone should have been forced to either hit the wall or pit for the wets first before you red flag an event.

I think it all boils down to the spray that kicks up once its full wet mode. It's always considered too dangerous.

Agree - IMO they should never red-flag a race due to the conditions - up to the drivers to safely navigate the track as prepared. Even delaying the start of a session is a little iffy.

Red-flag on an incident sure, but the driving skill to keep a machine on the track in those conditions is part of what makes the sport incredible. I didn't care if lap times were 10-15 seconds off what they can do in the dry - I could appreciate the minute car-control and incredible reactions of the drivers.
