Didn’t have too much problem with what he said.
He was asked to comment on Dan by Rachel.

Fair enough. It's just an opinion.

But anyone who knows anything about F1 would have a problem with that opinion in context. That Ricciardo doesn't deserve to be on the grid and then trashing his whole career, including his time at Red Bull.

As per the previous comment posted from X, it’s fair to criticise Ricciardo’s last few seasons however to act like he wasn’t one of the best drivers in the sport from 2014-2020 when the top of the grid was super competitive is just ridiculous and wrong.

Was peak attention-seeking slanderous bellendness from Villeneuve who has made it his life goal over the past couple of decades.

But hey, maybe he was on a paid mission by Red Bull to light some fires up DannyRic's arse this weekend?

If so - Mission successful.

Ocon has a 5 grid position penalty, from playing dodgem cars in Monaco. He qualified 17th. Obviously he will start 20th, which is a 3 position penalty.

Will he still have a 2 position penalty hanging over his head at the next race, or did he successfully minimise the penalty by failing to get out of Q1?

Villeneuve gave Ricciardo a huge clip after fp1. Asked what the point of him still being in F1 was.
Ricciardo answered the best way possible, he was not far off pole! Obviously Jacques doesn't like him personally, but his comments were way out of line and simply wrong. JV might've won a world title in a car that regularly won races and world titles, but we shouldn't forget how he sabotaged his own career with the BAR folly and became very middle of the road himself scoring no points just two years after winning the title.

Good post.

Rather than trashing Ric's career what I think Villeneuve should have said is this....

With Yuki's contract extension at RB now confirmed and Perez confirmed in the RBR #2 spot for another TWO YEARS :drunk: , I just wonder what will motivate Danny Ric to stay in F1 next year, let alone push himself to the absolute limit every race to scrap for places at the lower end of the grid?

As his moves to Renault and McLaren showed, he loves a challenge but other than $$ and the limelight I doubt that the sport has much more to offer a driver who has been in the sport more than 12 years, won 8 races and had 32 podiums.

I reckon Danny knows his time has come but wants to retire from the sport on his terms. And as competitive F1 is he surely understands that Liam Lawson deserves a chance for 2025 in preparation to prove he deserves a seat in the parent team.

Should be noted forever that he nearly lost that World Championship to Schumacher despite having an enormous car advantage over the Ferrari

And he's a shit country singer to boot

Just caught up with qualifying.
So came on here with great expectations.
To say I’m extremely disappointed is an understatement.

Where the hell is the pasta gun?

Imagine missing out on Q3 with both cars while having fresh sets of softs sitting in the garage.
Worthy of pasta gun times 2.

He just goes to the back of the grid for this race, unserved penalty places no longer carry over (haven’t since like 2013)

Remember when ALO was at McLaren in like 2016-2017 he would rack up 30-40 grid place penalties every race because the car was such a shitbox, they were constantly replacing ICE components 😅

A good way to shut the door on the Villeneuve stuff that has, of course, caught the attention of the click bait tabloids today, including our own Murdoch press.

But the interview offers a lot more in terms of Dan's thinking that came from his post Monaco briefing.

Ricciardo recalled that after the team debrief in Monaco, he had stayed back with Team Principal Laurent Mekies to reiterate his need for open communication and mutual understanding on matters relating to his performance.

He stated that due to his age and experience, he preferred this direct communication as he found it to be more productive. This direct communication, he added, continued in the following week as the team prepared for the Canadian Grand Prix.

“Yeah, I mean after Monaco, like after the debrief, I stayed back for a little bit and yeah, it was just because, I mean, I feel like under Laurent and that everyone’s very good like we’re pretty open with each other, but I wanted to make sure that there was nothing that they saw that they needed to unload, and you know I just basically wanted to know like ‘what do you guys think is going wrong? You know tell me if there’s something you see from me’.

“I want to try and fix it but I’ll also tell you guys what I feel, and maybe why I do feel a little bit flat or maybe the schedule’s a bit too much at the moment or whatever.

“So, we just had a very open chat, and it was great because I also want to give them the comfort to tell me straight. Like, I don’t, I’m nearly 35, [and] I don’t need too many more pats on the back. I would rather people just be very direct with me, and yeah, I felt like it was just productive and that continued through the week after.”

Charles obviously wasnt too happy after being knocked out in Q2, told the Ferrari PR lady he will say what he wants and also proceed to swear on Sky Italy (from the comments he said "sono incazzato" which roughly translates to "I'm ****ing pissed") about the situation

Good on him. Drivers are often expected to be stoic and silent in the face of disappointment, and be good little corporate lapdogs. They should be free to vent.

10 years since Ricciardo's first win. That was a great surprise.

I didn't like Mark Webber, and I never enjoyed his wins. So Ricciardo's win was the first time I experienced what it was like to see an Australian win a GP.

Hamilton out with mechanical failure causing lots of sand in the panties of flog pom hambo fans. Rosberg also had mechanical problems but could carry on. It was too much to hold on for the win, and Ricciardo got it with a couple of laps to go.

Great day :):thumbsu:
