How appropriate that they've quoted a Lovejoy in that piece

Is she allowed to play with your toys? :p
Haha except for the lego she can. Got a limited edition of a game a month or so ago and gave her a the little figures to hold. She dropped one, its head snapped off and I couldn't find it for hours. :( She's generally pretty good though. Its her little sister that is the problem.

"reportedly considering"

"The research suggests educators should “minimise the extent to which gender is labelled” and avoid telling children what girls and boys should do."

Great journalism: just grab something that will set off the conservative outrage machine and write an article full of weasel words so you're not "wrong" even though it's a beat-up.

Yep, the actual research paper seems to support what most people want. Stop telling kids what they should and shouldn't play with. But go into any toy store and tell me there's not a calculated approach to sending boys and girls into certain directions.

They have pink lego now
Marketers at toy companies used to sell to parents as much as kids, fhese days they just go straight to the kid and let them annoy the parent into buying it.

He-man was dolls for boys, just call them action figures so dad doesnt pitch a fit

This weird idea of some neo-libs that we want our kids to be free, independent thinkers, but only in regards to progressive ideas.

Almost certainly. This is classic modern click bait; take an academic article, misunderstand its point, run it through the Sunrise filter, add Twitter comments, cue outrage.

Just from the article I was able to glean (probably accidentally) that the research was about trying to avoid pushing boys and girls into narrow roles based on their gender i.e. Don't tell them boys must play with trucks and girls with Barbies. I'd bet London to a brick there's no mention of eliminating the actual terms boy and girl (just boys and girls toys).

fair enough

Vics are still backwards tho :)

"I haven’t done any dieting to get leaner for my recent photo shoots because it’s not real, I can't maintain it all year around."
nek minut posts beautiful photo of self posing. And history shows plenty of photos illustrating dieting and cutting.

Liken it to blogs or instagram entries of photos without make up cause "im beautiful with and without, this is the real me. be TRUE to yourself".

My wife had to tell me what this tide pod challenge was. Now I know kids do stupid things, and in modern times, these things go viral; I vaguely recall one where kids drank coloured milk til they spewed. But if you can't teach your kid not to eat poison, you've either failed as a parent or your kid is a special kind of stupid that no amount of disclaimers can fix.

What's more, the Cold Power ad is aimed at adults in an adult time slot. Surely adults don't need a reminder not to let their kids eat poison.

Read a cracked article a while back where they looked into the Tide pod thing, from memory they couldn't actually find an example of a video of anyone eating one, some article from like 8-9 years ago mentioning they "look" kinda delicious, then the stories about it, then a bunch of videos of people about to eat one and saying "DONT EAT A TIDE POD YOU MORON".

Its a vague recollection but I think its true in 90% of these "modern liberals being morons" type articles.

Standard social media attention seeking.

I know someone that posts all the 'natural is better' bullshit that coats herself in make-up to cover her Matthew Kreuzer skin and has had botox, lip injections and breast implants.

I don't understand the hoo ha The Smith St Band have created.

http://junkee.com/smith-street-band-crowd/158377
http://themusic.com.au/news/all/201...-donate-profits-from-tonights-gig-to-charity/

Cliffs: they played a gig then found out someone in the crowd groped someone else in the crowd - which is both against the law (and the perpetrator was apparently arrested) and not the band's doing. Next minute, diatribe of Silent Alarm proportions and it's all too hard and they can't go on.

"I guess the point of saying this, and I’m aware of how selfish and self absorbed this sounds because I am clearly not the victim in this situation, is after ten years it feels like every fight in the crowd, every groping, every one of these ****ing bullshit “incidents” stacks up on my conscience creating a weight I am now unable to carry".

There's making a statement and there's being offended on the behalf of other people and they've taken the latter to a new level.

HAs anyone asked if the band needs a hug?

I do not why we do not understand we are all in the same human race and racists, censors and half wits are not running in our human race.
