Victoria (British Columbian capital) recently dropped their residential speed limit to 30 across the city. Screw that.
Been talk for a while about that being introduced in Fitzroy/Carlton and has possibly already happened in the cbd?

There’s a major road out my way that has just announced it will be dropping from 70 to 60. I can’t really see the point in it (it has service lanes the whole way so people aren’t that close to the road as it is) but it also doesn’t really bother me.

I hate driving in the Melbourne CBD these days. It feels more stressful than it used to.
I rarely drive in the cbd but from working and riding it’s a complete lottery which roads will be closed, roadworks, single lane etc. the big build, however you feel about it is one of the worst co-ordinated major infrastructure projects the western world has seen in the last 20 years.

The speed drops happened near me.

70 to 60.
80,to 70.

Don't know why Vic roads to this .

Yeh I’m certainly not defending it, I’m sure vicroads or whoever would be able to spin some stats on how the new speed is more effective at “whatever” just noting it doesn’t really bother me.

I think someone crunch the numbers and found that the decreased speed limit will slow the journey on that road by 17 seconds.

But yeah under the rules as they are clubs can do what they like. If Young ends up selling himself $1m short over his career that is also his call.

I never understood Alistair Lynch contract for 10 years

I also felt he could have made more money but maybe he also felt it had controls in place in case of injury etc
The AFL definitely needs to have a rule change about contract lengths. At the end of the day it protects both player and Club, obviously more so the Club than the player.

I remember Shan Motlop would only lay tackles in contract years ...when he was at the cats.

Got my motlops mixed up.
Stevie motlop tackle beast only in contract years.

They'd be paranoid the government is spying on them and will unload all their automatic weapons upon them justifying their right to bear arms

The number of them thinking they are being invaded by aliens speaks to America’s IQ

I love the “defending my home and my family from armed home invaders” argument. I’m 44 and I don’t know anyone personally that’s been invaded at gun point at home. If I got invaded i’d be like “Take what you want you campaigners it’s insured. Can you take the fridge too so I can get a new one. I’ll give you a hand to load it up. Take a few hundred of those pillows on our bed too please” The fantasy that a home shootout is the only option is classic ‘Merica

The country that has stealth fighter jets and cruise missiles and nuclear submarines and other assorted weaponry that can take out anyone in the globe without them knowing from beyond the horizon, also has citizens thinking that their personal weapons are the only thing stopping a tyrannical government from invading their house. It would be funny if it wasn't f***ed up how the system is over there.

As Jim Jefferies says in his gun control routine:

"You know the government has drones, right? You're bringing guns to a drone fight."

I had a home invasion at 4am one night. It was a pretty scary experience. For weeks afterwards I would suddenly wake up thinking there was someone in the house and feel the need to check every room and wardrobe - equipped with a bread knife! In that frame of mind, if I lived in a country where guns were easily available I might have bought one. Then later taken it back like I put the bread knife away. I still keep a baseball bat under my bed.

It was a real pain in the arse too. The intruders kicked two wooden doors out of their frames and crow-barred a garage door - so for two weeks the house wasn't secure. I was insured but there was a $600 excess to pay. They took the car key so I had to change the locks on it - another $500 that wasn't covered by insurance.
