Haha, that happened to me in 2015. When things like Triple M, Gold FM, Smooth FM, etc. start sounding a whole lot better than Triple JJJ, you feel very over the hill.

Boomer was the last AFL player born before me - I shed a tear when he retired last year.

The good thing about tennis is that the old guys still have a stranglehold. Del Potro winning in 2009 was a few months older than me (oh no here we go)...and he is still the youngest thank god. Venus Williams was making grand slam finals when I was 8yo, loving these surviving players from the 90s.

My family didn't own a television until I was just about to enter school, so some of my first memories of the news were things like Bosnia and Rwanda (I was an atlas fanatic, had taught myself every country, flag and capital before school, so seeing these places pop up on the television was exhilarating to my young mind, if conflict-related).

What are things in life - both football and non-football related - that make you feel old?

Here are some of mine:

• A number of the Brisbane Lions players were not even born at the time the Brisbane Bears and Fitzroy merged in 1996.
• There are no remaining AFL listed players born in the 1970s or who played in the 1990s.
• Sons of 1990s players are now playing AFL.
• Teenagers say that something is 'so 1990s'.
• Some of my high school classmates from the early 1990s have adult children.
• Alicia Silverstone plays the mother of teenagers in the recently released 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' movie.
• Actresses Kate Winslett and Reese Witherspoon both have daughters aged 16.
• I remember watching a news story in 1998 about Steve and Terri Irwin welcoming their first baby into the world - a daughter named Bindi.
• Princess Diana has been gone nearly 20 years now.
• September 11 happened closer to 1985 than the present day.

Most of my favourite rock musicians from the 90s are in their 50s like Billy Corgan and Maynard James Keenan or dead like Chris Cornell and Scott Weiland.

That happened to me about 10 years ago when I found myself listening to ABC radio more than Triple J, I hardly listen to Triple J at all anymore.

i agree, i am mid 20s and i certainly dont feel old. my trick is avoiding responsibilities and having zero goals to improve yourself.

I swear there is large segment of people in the 20-25 age range now who have seemingly no knowledge or awareness of anything that existed before they were born, or even before high school age.

When I was a kid in the '90s, I had the TV or radio going on all the time, or I was reading about or being told about something by my parents. The generation after had the Internet to grow up with as well, yet somehow they're less knowledgeable about the world around them than ever. I mean, you don't need to be a history buff or be living in the past, but some 20-somethings appear like the world just got turned on in 2005, and that nothing came before it. I'm not even 30 until next year, but it makes me feel old.
