I grew up a beach rat and lifesaver so I’ve been stung by bluebottles loads. Typical Aussie stuff though, like sunburn and bindis, it happens every now and then. Some plants sting you in the tropics, gotta be mindful.

But as far as ‘bitten’, nothing really jumps out, just the usual encounters with bull ants, caught fish, pets, etc. nothing too memorable thankfully. Had a cousin who got bit by a white tip on the face whilst asleep and that fked him up a bit.

Early morning was pulling a fallen palm frond (these are really big) out of a bush without noticing there was a big wasp nest attached (which had survived the long fall). Got stung about 10-20 times. Took ages to locate the misplaced wasp spray and gingerly nudge and tug the frond into appropriate harmless position for firing. Had that thing blasting on the nest for a good twenty seconds (no wind nor bites). It was right where (unawares) visitors park driverside so wanted to do it pronto, and after a bite or two it doesn’t really hurt so might as well do it whilst it bothers you less. Might come out in spots later on though lol.

I still remember my first proper wasp bite in Easter ‘94. I don’t think you ever forget that. My father is allergic to bees and once had to evacuate when a hive was right outside his bedroom.
Wasps dont bite. Unless the ones you’re talking are mutants. 😂

Sounds like the 8 legged little pervert was trying to give you a hickey. Flogs of creatures
It was certianly a scare when I saw it in the morning. Turned red and puffed up a little bit, but nothing major. Went straight on the anti-histamines and iced it, was ok after.. idk a few days?

I'm just glad I didnt wake up during.

How is this not a murder charge - seems bullshit that just because he jumped behind the wheel of his car when he hit his wife, that it's "causing death by dangerous driving" and not what could potentially be a much more serious charge

Is there something I'm missing here? I thought that he was following behind her as a safety car, but it sounds like you're saying something more sinister happened.

It happened in a driveway/a street. She jumped on the bonnet of the car and he continued to drive and dragged her for "x" amount of metres.

Haha ****, a bit different to my assumption then

He's lucky he's not up on a murder charge and lucky he's out on bail

Murder implies an intent to seriously injure or kill. And the police can always upgrade the charge later anyway.

It may be a case of an argument resulting in the wife getting on the bonnet to try and stop the husband driving away, husband continued driving and she ended up underneath.

We'll have to wait and see what happens when it goes to trial.

People who watch videos on their phone with the volume up in public should be shot in the face

This is from about a decade ago, I was on the old red rattler from Geelong to Melbourne for my morning commute - I get on at South Geelong, sit one end of the carriage & I put my headphones on to listening to music

We pull in at Geelong where a lot of folk get on, with a lady who sat opposite me & can see she's also listening to music thru headphones. At the other end of the carriage was a group of teenage girls (maybe even a school group) - one of them turns on their music, and at such a high volume that me & this other lady both look up & that knowing look to each other as we could hear that youngsters music clearer than the music coming thru our headphones

How loud must their volume setting have been?

Thankfully they were spoken to and turned it down, slightly

Yeah, reading now that kind of seems like what happened. I don't think that'll help him at all though - if you speed away with your wife on the bonnet then you have to accept something bad might happen lol

A student at my old school was "skylarking" around a car with some mates, apparently on the bonnet. There was no malicious intent or even speed involved afaik. He died.

3 Xmas ago I got stung by a wasp right on the end of my.... ear lobe

It swelled up to 20c coin size, throbbing but a bit of ice for a few hrs it went down.

Was apparently a paper wasp which aren't deadly luckily, just aggressive

On SM-S908E using BigFooty.com mobile app
Yeah the rock and scissors wasps are deadly
