Yep it's massive. I'd rather go and pick out my own produce but each to their own. I know my company does Coles/Woolies delivery orders because if you are getting 20 litres of milk at a time it's a pain in the arse to send one person to do that but also not worth the effort of one of the dairies to add you to their route just for a crate or two.

My point is that it makes sense to be a store based thing. Supermarket warehouses aren't set up to pick individual items. It would be a big change even to have a truck carrying a regular order to a supermarket plus a bunch of separate customer orders.
I see your point .

They have a service and people are using it ..it's been a successful one .

And I may add if Coles and woolies had a just online shop.
That has to be re stocked ...they spending more money just for online.

At store level they getting both = bang for buck.
Even if those online people think they own the shop.

'This item is click and collect only'
check available stores
'This item is unavailable in store'

But they have already opened one in Sydney and one soon to be in Melbourne. So they are setup to pick individual items. And clearly the supermarket chains believe it is a better financial setup than picking online orders in store.

Online is a big business.
The benefit of opening up an online only S/market.
Is they can complete all their orders , because general customers can't go in there .
They should be quicker at complete the orders too.

It would take bills away from the near bye stores.
But maybe other benefits from the near stores .
Less online trollies taking up the lanes better for shoppers.

I've never done a Click and Collect or Delivery order. I'm assuming you can order a 700g of Gala apples or 3 brown onions and the supermarket staff bag up these loose items and pack them.

How do the robot factories select fresh fruit and veg? If it's all pre-packaged it would significantly add to the cost. For example, at Coles loose broccoli is &6.90 /kg, the packaged is $13.33.

Some online business, people are useless.

You can order for items.
They say out of stock, something like That.

You walk in to the store.
Bang the item there.

I’m sorry you did what?

I reckon I would be happy if Uber Eats vanished. I think it's a blight on society - promotes laziness, overeating and clogs up the roads. It didn't even exist ten years ago, so it's not like we can't live without it.
UberEats should vanish because of how predatory their deals are with restaurants and drivers.

How vendors havent banded together to come off the app is beyond me. They just keep paying 30% to Uber and copping all refunds when a driver delivers cold food. Bigger fool them I guess

People so lazy they can't do their own groceries or pick up a pizza are pathetic but that's an aside

People at the local pool who can't work out how sharing a lane works.

I know, rather than have a look at what people are doing, what pace they're going etc., why don't you throw your lard arse in, take up most of the lane and swim slowly up the middle while the rest of us adjust to you?

Fair.

Some people are fuuu stupid.
Can't even share walking tracks easy to stick the the left .
Probably easy to walk around someone than swim around them tho.

Clog up the roads with thier dented little hatch back .
You can see an uber eats car a mile away

I’ve only used Uber eats and online order of groceries when stuck at home and unable to go out. Otherwise I much prefer to pick out my own shopping as I choose items with the longest use by and best before dates.

Even the other night when I was sore and tired, I toyed with Uber eats then decided it was quicker and cheaper to just go direct.

But I will use online ordering for pickup for any store that has their own online platform and not Uber prices.

I much prefer use by bingo

Buy the marked down item and see how long before I
A: Decide to eat it
B: Throw it away
C: Wonder why I bought marked down asparagus
