Live games are what convert people to the sport, not youtube highlights
Bingo. Wasn't really a fan of soccer at all until I went to a live game, been a paid member for the past 2 or 3 years and moved to an active support membership this season. Live is the way to go.

It was.

Poor mum, i dragged her to every game in Melbourne and Geelong after that for the next 12 years :tearsofjoy:
I went to Melb for games back then.

Saw Geel v Melb @ MCG.

Melb won by like 4 goals and Ablett kicked 11.

He played in so many games that year where he kicked 10+ and cats lost. Rarely see that.

The Shed at Perth Glory games was always a fun day out, the chants and antics there were often more entertaining than the games themselves.

Still is a great day out. I will never be in any other part of the ground.

Yep sounds about right.

we lost to Essendon too that day iirc by 24 points. But Salmon did kick 10 too.

Aaaah Geelong back in the 90s. It was quite the ride.

No surprise that the people that attend matches change their opinions. You closed minded lot are what is holding this country back. Probably still tune into Home and Away in the hope that Sally Fletcher comes back.

Radio Ads made to sound like a race call.
About this time every ****ing year some oh so clever and original writer does it.This year it’s flavoured milk that I won’t be buying.

Just under 1/5th of Tasmanians are paying AFL cub members (~90k) and I doubt most have seen more than 5-10 games of their team live in their lifetimes, if at all

I've seen more live North games in the last 2 years than I did in the preceding 21

+1 for live sport being the most important element for becoming a fan.

My first A-League game was Melbourne vs Sydney on 27th December 2008. Flares set off before the game, Sydney two goals up after 4 minutes and eventually losing 3-2 to the Victory. Absolutely captivating game and I've now been a Victory member for the past 10 years.

I went to an NSL game once which basically the Croats against the Italians and all they did was yell insults at each other based on centuries old grievances.

If you live somewhere without a team, then you make do.

It's much more unified these days in the A-League, now the Croats and Italians yell insults at the Albanian or Greek internationals.

Jokes, it's still prevalent in the VPL but not nearly as bad as the 90's from what I hear. That's what happens when you tie a team's identity around a certain nationality.
